    That kit came out in 1961, been issued as a drag car, street rod, Dick Tracey car, stock version etc, many reissues over the years, turned out nice John

      Thank you. I was not aware it had been released so many ways.

    Those extra parts are always cool to find out about. The piece that you thought the trophy sits on was in the Coke Ranchero too, don't know what it is. The build came out great, brother. 🤟🤠👍

    Nice two tone paint job. Goes well with those custom mag wheels 👌

    Like the color choices, they go together well, model came out looking great even with the problems you had. Sometimes stepping back from the kit is what's needed to get yourself through it. I have subscribed!

    I built that kit a few years ago to resemble by bothers first car (a '35 Ford Coupe). It's a tough kit but you made it work.

    😊 I've built 3 amt kits and no problems, including the same kit. Sorry u had so many issues. It's still 1 of my fave kits. I have 1 still to build.

    Cool build, yes I believe that kit, has some extra parts, but not the instructions for them, and they may not all be there. Appears to be a stock only kit, with a handful of the custom parts leftover.

    • @kingranch1962
      @kingranch1962  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I figured it was probably released as a custom at one time and then again released as a stock kit.

    @davidparker2259 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You built yourself a 2-in-1 kit that only has the instructions to build it one way. You figured out the Pontiac engine and custom front end without them, so you’re ahead of the game. And your wheel choice looks better than the skinnies that came in the kit. Nice job.

    Beautiful build....Ah the joys of a kit from the 60's some fitment issues were a little better on the first issue but not much lol.
    Still it's a neat old kit came with a bunch
    Of accessories and custom stuff , alot of the accessories they don't show in the new instructions why we'll never know lol.

    This is an old kit that came out about 1962 molded in gray and black plastic. . I built one then. It was offered with the building option. of convertible or chopped roof.. ( I never built a convertible but I bet it is easier. ) the stock roof was a later addition. This kit has been re-releasted a number of times. I turned mine into a salt flats type racer by gluing the hood all together to get it to look right. It was one of my favorites ... but the fit is bad.. I really am surprised when I re-build some of these old kits... it is amazing that we built them at all . AMT body putty was bad but we used it to fill and build up details.. My kit has the side Lakers as we called them.. chrome pipes that ran along the running boards. The manifold just about fits the side lakers. The interior top back was trimmed to fit the body before I glued on the roof. Ironically , I am now building the same kit.. well a different box and you have better wheels and tires. (That seems to be the big difference in the newer releases) I'm starting the body now. I'll glue the hood . I cut the steering post at the floorboard and used a metal pin to slide the steering wheel on from the inside .. I always wanted to build the Revell kit but I don't know if its better. I am pretty sure the bottom of the body does not touch the running boards on the real car....but it Still needs lowering. You have to test fit alot. But . in the end you have a really cool looking car. I think the 36 is one of the best body styles from the 30s and 40s . Good luck. Thanks for sharing.

    I wanted to help you with the odd parts.. the first is a custom " license plate holder" for the trunk. yeah too big and kinda ugly.. Yep trophy AMT started including display items as model shops were always having model contests in the 60s and guys were trying to make a better display... Chrome things are Nerf Bars .. They were mini bumpers... they fit into the bumper support holes.. not sure of the chrome dots... they might got on the base of the tail light posts ( more later) ... the two round things fit together to make a "Moon Tank" they were used for drag racing.. think they pressurized fuel but not sure one should find a drag racing fan. Yep lower spring so you can "Rake " your 36. there are two dashes one for the coupe and one for the convertible.. they used to say on the back which is which but that might not be visible any more. Tubey thing is a racing manifold for 6 2s Carburetors .. Think the circles are for the ends of the front spring and differential/ rear end .. they are wheel backs so the metal axels will work. . Think the last thing is an alternator.. it was too long so I cut it down to fit better. I didn't want to show the engine . The trick to fitting the hood is to align the firewall hood depression with the side hood depression. The fit of the roof is bad and you have to fill and re scribe the doors. You got it right. .. the left side of the hood is about a 16th of an inch too short at the front. compare both halves and you'll see what I mean . OH the bug eye lenses were the stock lenses for the frog eye head lights. But with some care it all fits but it is not a precision fit. The 36 Ford had a 3 window and a 5 window coupe .. not sure why... maybe more room in the back. Another interesting note is the fuel cap is on the base of the left tail light and the base on the right had a step to help a person get into the rumble seat. those small chrome tear shaped bits may be the these cap and step covers. AMT kits in those days had a number of custom parts but you had to figure it out... just about every teenage boy was a car genius..lol .. we thought so any way. I really did like your video.. despite all the fit hassles ,this was one of my favorite kits. Thanks.

    Very helpful! I have this kit and it helps to be aware of all the potential problems. Seems like AMT/Ertl did a poor job of quality control.

    I really hate it when such a good looking kit has so many issues. It turned out nice though. Great job.

  • @sodakmodelcars
    @sodakmodelcars ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sucks this kit had so many issues. I prefer the 36 over the other 30s Ford s. Your six carb intake was one if the last parts you showed, like a split log intake manifold.

    Hi . You re complaining about a kit that's been out longer than I ve been breathing . In 1961 they disn t care about all of the details we do in today's kits . This us why we re called modelers . We realso miniature engineers. Great build .

    • @kingranch1962

      I just learned the kit was released one year before I was born. I agree, we over come and adapt, which makes this hobby great. Thanks for watching.
