  • Dr John Hagelin describes the Transcendental Meditation technique in scientific terms.
    For more information on the Transcendental Meditation® technique, please visit: learntm.org/3PtakA4 or call 1-888-LEARN-TM
    Hello, I'm John Hagelin, quantum physicist and teacher of the Transcendental Meditation program. Welcome to this introductory lecture on Transcendental Meditation.
    What is Transcendental Meditation? Is it a way to relax? Is it a technique to promote health, vitality, and longevity? Is it a means to develop creativity, IQ, and peak mental performance? Or is it a past to inner peace? Enlightenment? As we will see it is all these things and more.
    To understand Transcendental Meditation and consciousness we need to understand a little bit about the physical universe. Modern science, over the past 50 years, has probed deeper levels of physical reality. Modern science has explored more fundamental levels of natures functioning. From the superficial level of macroscopic physics, the sensory objects around us, to the world of the molecule, atom, nucleus and sub-nuclear levels of natures functioning as shown in this chart.
    This chart reveals the hierarchical structure of the laws of nature. From superficial diversity to fundamental unity shown at the foundation of this chart. As modern physics probes deeper levels of natures functioning it is revealed that more fundamental levels of nature are progressively more unified. the 4 forces of nature deep within the atomic nucleus become 3, and 2, and ultimately 1 unified field of all the laws of nature.

    @angelwhite Other practices most often involve some concentration or control of the mind and others involve contemplation--thinking about something. These practices keep the mind active in some way on the surface thinking level. TM allows the mind to simply, naturally and effortlessly transcend thinking and experience a deep state of restfully alert consciousness. Take a look at this video: "Mantra and Transcendental Meditation explained by Maharishi"

    TM is a technique used to control the frequency of the electrical impuslses in your brain as these are related to conscienceness,
    The brain operates between 1-40 hz, the lower being low activity and the higher being extreme alertness, fight or flight, there are many methods to control these frequencies, including sound and visual stimuli called Binaural beats, but the effect is to go into the theta Brain wave, which is on the edge of conscious thought And dreaming

    I just love that there is a lack of negative comments pertaining to this video. Maybe this is another true sign that we can change this world once we learn to change our mind, body, and spirituality for the better of mankind.

    An accomplished physicist reveals the correspondence between the Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature and Transcendental Consciousness experienced in Transcendental Meditation-it is one and the same field of infinite creativity. The implications of this finding esp for health & education is presented in great detail using visual aids. World-transforming knowledge along with Hagelin‘s charisma make this video a winner.

    Dear John thanks so much for your teachings and i would like to add that the way human society has evolved to is one of competative drive for profit for a tiny minority, this has a profound effect on everything from our health to our enviornment, CAPITALISM is an outdated way of satisfying our material as well as our emotional need WE NEED TO RECLAIM OUR WORLD FROM TYRANNY OF CAPITALISM . A WORLD TO SHARE FOR OUR COMMON WELL BEING AND ALL GENERATIONS TO COME.

    The thing is you can meditate yourself, it really isn't terribly hard. As long as you have about half an hour free time where you can sit in a quiet place you can meditate yourself. I'm not sure if TM is much different than normal meditation, but I'm sure it will definitely help to meditates oneself if you cannot afford lessons.

    Research has shown even thirty minutes in the Theta state can greatly reduce your need for sleep, as well as help heal certain ailments and help counteract certain disorders, the point being, if you cannot master TM, consider the benefits and look at alternative ways of reaching this brainwave output..good luck!

    THE AWAKENING IS HAPPENING. I believe everything happens for a reason. Ever since my personal awakening to the true reality we are all experiencing, as well as many friends, I believe the time has come for the people on this planet to unite through consciousness. The lack of a universal right to education is one of the main ills of our current "civilization". Poverty will always be there, because only few privileged have access to books, + an appropriate education. The day that people in all the corners of the planet become "academically" self-sufficient, this day, there will also be a craving for the "cultivation" of the self and of real consciousness awakening, social interaction and "refinement!!

    He says the higher brain (neo cortex?) can achieve executive control over other parts of your brain, including the old brain (limbic system?), which is the place where our emotions stem. Does this imply that it's possible to control your emotions in a broad spectra, and does this kind of meditation adress the problems of certain social diagnoses, such as aspergers, autism etc?

    Around 5:05 you differentiate TM from mantra meditation. But every source I've looked at while trying to figure out *what it actually is* has said it is a form of mantra meditation.

    • @QED_
      @QED_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference is in the purpose of the mantra. The role of the mantra in TM is not what it typically is in mantra meditations: "Mantra meditation practices are generally forms of controlled focus, employing degrees of concentration or sustained attention.
      The Transcendental Meditation technique, a process of "automatic self-transcending," involves silent use of a specialized mantra or sound, but uses the specific mantra in a unique way. The TM technique is fundamentally different from other kinds of “mantra” practices".

    he said that if you dont develop the front of your brain by the time ur 25 it wont develop. well i turned 26 3 days ago. Does that mean im screwed? I am thinking about trying this meditation but him saying that worries me that it might be too late.

  • @CalumnMcAulay
    @CalumnMcAulay 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you said that if the higher brain fails to develop before the age of 25 then it wont develop at all - is this an absolute statement of truth or is brain development amenable to meditation practice after the age of 25?

    • @wertyhog1981
      @wertyhog1981 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      chris mcaulay at 19:40 it seems he is saying that even in adults (presumably including those over age 25) meditation engages the prefrontal cortex / higher brain. That's also consistent with the research showing that transcendental meditation reduces recidivism rates for released prisoners: www.davidlynchfoundation.org/prisons.html

      Even if all of this were true -- so what (?) You're not thinking straight. First you decide if something is valuable . . . then you decide what you'd pay for it. Food, housing and clothing . . . none of them is free. So you're going to starve . . . sleep in the street . . . and go naked . . . until they're free (?) Good luck with that kind of attitude . . .
