- Our Yacht Rock shows are still by far our most popular videos. Luckily Z-Bear has what seems to be an endless supply of Soft Rock gems from the 1970s & 1980s to share with all of you. In this show along with familiar songs and artists, she mixes in some deeper tracks including a few genre bending ones that will hopefully bring a smile to your face. Mixin up some great vibes. I can really tell the difference it makes to use vinyl, the songs just sound like it used to. I'm sure you've mixed it / equalized it just right, I can hear so much more in the music vs. normal digital streaming. Great "show"!

Good stuff, but I wouldn't classify Cyndi Lauper as "Yacht Rock", lol.
Yeah that Cyndi Lauper song has caused a bit of controversy since we included it on this video. However if you listen to the structure of the song and learn a bit about its history, it definitely fits the Yacht Rock genre. It was an oddball single when it was released. The first and third singles from the album (She's So Unusual) "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" and "She Bop" were firmly New Wave pop while the second single "Time After Time" was a classic 80s Rock ballad. "All Through The Night" didn't fit either category yet it became the only single from the album to get immediate airplay on Soft Rock stations and on background music systems at retail stores. The song would commonly be heard alongside Yacht Rock legends like Air Supply and Kenny Loggins. Interestingly Cyndi doubled down on her Pop successes and did not venture back into this style of song until much later in her career. All of this proves above all else that she was and still is a spectacularly talented and versatile musician.
How could you include a Cyndy Lauper song in Yacht Rock?!
Lol. Yeah we base our song selections on the feeling not the artist so sometimes there are some surprises like that one. That song fit so perfectly with the others.
