Hi friends, and Happy New Year! I focused on the positive in this video - that's just how I chose to show up here on my channel, but life is not all sunshine and rainbows, and it's been a tough year in many ways. I wanted to let you know that if you have had a rough year and are struggling, I see you and send you love. Hugs, Chelsea
I have had a very rough year personally with several tragedies in my family. One happening currently with an unexpected death just before Christmas. I found you when I got my first pressure canner last year and learning and loving every minute of it. I always try to see the sunshine over the rain. I find you to be calming and I truly appreciate you from the bottom of my heart. Happy New Year to you and your family. Many good wishes for your newest ventures.
I'm 27 and my parents were also 19 and 21 when they had me! I've been following you for a couple years now taking notes and inspiration from you to eventually start my own homestead one day. I finally live somewhere where I can grow things, so this is my very first year growing on my patio (My goal is to be able to eat ONE thing from my little garden - I know I'm gonna be learning from mistakes more than anything this first year)! I also started making my own bread and learning how to knit to make baby steps towards being self sufficient. You've been such a role model for me these past couple years, I'm so happy I found you :)
How sweet….you are a good person. Be proud of yourself honey. I’m 71 and always wanted this kind of life. But…I married twice, they thought I was nuts. I was a good woman for a man who wanted this life, but that’s over. I have a great life, I had a great life…..just one of those things I wanted, and didn’t go after it. I pray you get the life you want! Go for it dear..♥️👍
Glad to see your business is becoming a success. We particularly like the fact you don't put your children on display like other popular youtubers do. Glad you and Dan are at a point you can start enjoying the fruits of all your planning and hard labor.
Your channel stands out for so many reasons. Your kind and positive demeanor, your wealth of information, and your beautiful home and farm. I just love watching your videos. Happy New Year.
My Mama has been gone 24 years now but the one thing she instilled in my mind is “Don’t Box It Up! Use it!” When someone gives you a gift antique or not use it if you love it! That’s the original thought process of the gift was to give you joy and happiness while seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, using what ever gift. Don’t be afraid to use and enjoy!
I agree! I have a beautiful fruit bowl my great grandmother brought over from Ireland, it's on my counter with oranges in it now. I think she'd appreciate that!
I truly enjoy your channel. I want say You & Dan have made A GREAT & CORRECT CHOICE of keeping your children off of your channel & social media. There are some nasty creeps in this world. YOU MUST PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN. It is ok for us to hear them & see them as long as we don’t see faces. HERE IS TO A HAPPY HEALTHY 2024 GOD BLESS FROM WEST CENTRAL INDIANA USA FARMLAND.
This is a video filled with wisdom that comes from living a purpose-driven life that works so well because it comes from a well-spring of love & clear-thinking. What a refreshing gift your videos are to us. Best wishes for just the healthiest, happiest 2024. p.s. I was very surprised when you mentioned that you do the butchering chores (other than the killing That is quite the skill & undertaking .
Happy New Year's to you and yours Chelsea!🎉....perhaps you could think about putting together a gardening book consisting of your 20yrs of wisdom and knowledge. Maybe a chapter specific for us northern gardeners. There's plenty of information for the Okanagan and Coastal guys but not too much for the North. Just a thought:)
That would be great. I love the way you talk TO us and not AT us. You ‘teach’ but not like we’ve no idea or a clue on gardening. I’ve been gardening for YEARS but at first I grew only potatoes and peas, beans and beets. It’s grown, 😄 I have small medium and large in ground gardens, a stone raised herb bef , window boxes for fresh herbs I can reach right out the window 👍 and a tiny one called eat me first 😄😄 it’s planted early , covered a lot and we’re eating from it in July ( mid to end ) I love how your gardens are laid out. There’s nothing like in ground gardens. Except the last two years GARTER SNAKES 😮😳 MAN I squirm just thinking about them … I like your homemade pots 👍 and how you go through your soil mixes A book would be great from you
Happy New Year to you all. It’s been so fun following along for the last few years. James and I are older than you and Dan and we are about to make a big change 8n our lives. We are looking at buying 70 acres starting again. So a person is never too old to do something new.. thank you so much for sharing with us, bits of your life. All the best I. 2024 🇨🇦🌷
We are making it a tradition to keep our tree up (not necessarily the other decorations and lights) until the epiphany (Jan 6). We also did the traditional German tree decorating kinda by mistake this year because we just could not find the time beforehand- but we waited to decorate until Christmas Eve and briefly lit the candles on the tree that night. It was fun!
Peg Loom- I don't use wool because I'm vegan (and in no position to keep sheep myself), so I use strips of old bedding for this but...I'd recommend looking into peg loom weaving for your fibre arts. It's essentially a wooden plank (with drilled holes) with wooden pegs stuck into the holes. It's extremely easy to do. It was originally done with raw or washed wool fleece. It can also be done with spun wool or fabric strips as I said. My bathroom rug is made from an old duvet cover 😀
I had goats (both large and medium breeds) before and didn't have much issues with them escaping. I think the smaller ones are perhaps more troublesome in that regard? There were a few areas of the fence that had to be strengthened and made harder for them to climb, but that wasn't bad. The last four and a half years I've been in Europe and haven't had the space, but I'm moving back to the USA and getting a goat in the late summer/fall. I'm hoping to move towards more of a homesteading lifestyle over time, so a dairy goat will be the start. I love your channel so thank you for your videos!
Becoming a Master Gardener was one of the first thing I did when I quit Teaching. Preserving food was my second. They have become my passion. I love your channel and have learned so much. You are very encouraging.
I'm so happy to have just found your channel! My channel is all about homesteading in town. Wish I lived back up in the mountains again but we can all learn homesteading skills and be self-sufficient even if we don't have an acreage! Happy New Year!
Been watching your show little bit over 5 years. So I don't know exactly when you start your show. And if I'm not mistaken that's when you were showing your kids they were young. And I have not stopped watching your show. I was watching your show when I was going through chemo and radiation I was diagnosed with breast cancer. And your show that's how I got thow it all so thank you so much for being there with your show 🙏🙏🙏🙏
grandchildren are definitely the BEST. We just had our 20th and it never gets old. I am so thankful we started our family relatively young because we are still young enough to totally enjoy all the babies. The best part is that they all live within 2-30 min from us
I am so happy I found your channel you’re such a pleasing person to listen to and so organized. And energetics you get so much done in one day or one video You bake and cook as much as I used to when I had more of my four kids at home now at 72 here I sit alone until they come over. I wish I could cook and bake more but it’s only me to eat it in I don’t need it. 🌸 I do put in a small garden in greenhouse. And my family all lives pretty close to me. Thank you for your channel.
I feel that if i lived next door to you we would be great friends, and it's nice when you post a video, I'm visiting a friend. I love to cook, i make sugar flowers for wedding cakes etc, i quilt and have taught upholstery. So i feel we have a lot in common
I found your channel by accident. I’m so glad that I have stayed. I love your videos. I hope the next year will be a good year for you and your family.
I love the story of Dan finding his old car. It's so romantic, like something from a Hallmark movie. I'm not a mechanic but I'm hoping he will have videos of him fixing it up. Plus, some stories of your dating. When did he first remember noticing you in school, what were his thoughts when he saw you, when did he realize he was in love etc. OK, so, if he is going to tell stories while he's fixing the carburation why not add a little amore with it.
Awesome video. The kitten is so sweet, what a cutie. I'm looking forward to another year of your channel. Wishing you the best gardening year and that you have an abundance.❤❤❤
Thank you for taking the time to share all your thoughts. I look forward to seeing your videos daily. And the kitten is adorable. Look forward to seeing your cooking, gardening, and farming in 2024!
Chelsea, I cannot wait to learn more from you in your membership community! I am a new gardener who tried multiple methods of gardening last year to find what works and what didn't. My vertical Greenstalk garden struggled a bit, so I am hopeful that you will have some ideas for that. I also tried hydroponics for my lettuce and had some successes. Our in-ground garden was frustrating, as we have free-ranging chickens. We have it fenced off, but it was still getting pecked at.Which plamts do you typically start off with to have the most productive gardening experience? When should we plan on starting seeds? I have several questions for you, as you can tell. 😂 Just wait for the canning questions! My mom led me to believe that jars or the canner would explode...so there's that. I want to be able to preserve foods for my family, especially tomato sauces and strawberries! Cooking...where do I begin? 😂 Let me leave it there and I cannot wait to join your membership community to learn from one another. I assume that other viewers can also share? You and your family are delightful, even if they are behind-the-scenes. It is clear that they support you and your creative endeavors! Happy New Year! BTW, the kitten is adorable!! 🥰
I am so happy for you and your family success in homesteading and YouTubing. Thank you for continuing your 'free' online TH-cam presence, as that's what I can afford at this time. See you in 2024!
Finally started my channel. 12 videos in 3 weeks. I was intimidated by editing, voiceovers, music, graphics. But I just started and it's getting much easier with each video. Storage is my latest struggle though...
Chelsea I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. I have really reduced the number of channels I follow and yours is definitely on my list of continuing to watch. I love your attitude and your way of sharing. Thank you!
I love your channel and I live in a context that is so different from yours. In our NW England UK town it feels like it never stops raining. I live in a standard house with a very small garden but I have had an allotment, for two years now, and grow so much food on this modest space. This year I started pressure canning in a very small way by comparison but I have learnt so much from you. I also love the seasonality of your channel and the rhythm of the year. The grandchildren continue to enjoy making the bakes from your cookbook. Wishing you and your family well for 2024.
Hey Chelsea, I got a *kitten* for Christmas too!! Her name is Sadie and she’s an active, confident, inquisitive little girl! I’m really a dog person but I’m physically unable to take care of them as they should anymore and I had to put down my pup(13yrs) two years ago this month.😭 Storytime: My Mom was visiting my house and saw your cookbook sitting on my table. She browsed through it as I explained more about you, your family and lifestyle. We talked about how I always wanted the same things but recently have had to realize they were not going to happen for me. She said “your friend(you) has the warmest smile. I can tell she is a wonderful person.” I told her “You couldn’t be more correct! She’s both of those things and more!” Happy New Year🎉 Hugs, Doc❤
Thanks for sharing your dreams, passions & talents with us! It’s like visiting with a dear friend when I watch your videos & I wish you, your family & everyone a wonderful 2024 & beyond 🤗💗🇨🇦🎉💫
I.too, have always thought that Grandies are the true JOY of life (my MIL said that you wouldn't enjoy them as much if you hadn't raised your own kids first!) but just wait - Great Grandies are even BETTER!!!! Our Very BEST wishes sent to you from suburban Chicago area.
Pam here….love the sweet sleeping beauty looking over your shoulder…and THANKS for the TIPS if thinking about starting a channel….as I was watching I was writing notes for a channel idea I had and just then you started with your TIPS>..serendipity!! Love your channel. And NO my channel won’t be about Homesteading, cooking or recipes. But comes from my passion! MUMS the word for now…
I’m fairly new to canning (pressure cooking ) I’m also a visual learner and a comprehensive video pertaining to everything from a to z should be so helpful! I have asked a few TH-camrs who preserve but to no avail. You have become one of my top three gurus, and love your content. I hope to see a canning 101 video in 2024! Much success and happy 2024!
I have comprehensive canning info on my membership community (opening again in a week) - the reason most of us who have vlog style videos don't do straight up 'how-tos' is that they don't perform well. I did do a canning tomatoes video a few months back where I did share a ton of canning info you might find helpful.
Happy new year Chelsea looking forward to 2024. The new kitty is precious. Thank you for sharing all that you do and what you have planned for the future.
I remember seeing your kids when they were younger, plus helping in the garden two or three years ago, and one of your daughter making rolls which are super easy
This is how I look with at it and to disrespect anyone watching your show. I'm here to watch you and how you farm raise your garden can your food and cook. I'm not here to get into your personal life. Way some people in the world 🌎 I personally would not show my kids. We always can hear 🙉 your kids in the back on your show. God Bless 🙏🙏🙏🙏. Love your show.
Being a “Master Gardner” is the title I enjoy most. Being a Gardner and canner for over 50 years, I still enjoy watching you. At my age, I don’t plan on ever doing TH-cam even though I have a lot of people who ask me to. 😊 I’ll just watch you, Jess at Roots & Refuge and Miss Lori at Whippoorwill Holler. We never knew we were homesteaders for all these years until I started watching TH-cam! Dang, I was “in” before I ever knew it. Lol
Wishing you and the family a healthy and happy News Year!🎉❤ Just wanted you to know how enjoyable, informative, inspiring and just plain fun your channel is. Don't tell anyone, it's my favorite!!❤️
Happy New Year, I love the new furbaby, it is adorable. I enjoyed the q and a, thank you for the time and effort it takes. Washing, combing, spinning and weaving fibers is not an easy process. I love sheep and taking care of them, they are such gentle creatures. I like knitting and crochet but not the processing the raw wool.
I am looking forward to your seed starting course! I’ll have to look ahead and see if it’s already out as this video is a few months old now, but I was just saying yesterday that I need to up my game with my seedlings. They always look a bit rough compared to what I can buy at a local farmers market or big box store.
It was lovely to hear a little of your life and family. We are human in our curiosity and you told us all that we need to know without crossing the line of privacy for your children and their future. I so admire your work ethic and your decency. Thank you for sitting in your living room and inviting us in. I live in Australia, have connections with the country and the lives on farms, and love spending time with you. I have never had a garden as I was busy with other parts of my life and allowed my husband to be the gardener. But circumstances have made it that I have started a vegetable garden and I find so much joy in spending time there, watering and weeding and now I am harvesting on a small scale. My first was a crop of beans which are almost at an end but I have cucumbers coming by the load and initially I was so thrilled I actually named the first one I was cultivating. I also have some tomatoes, spinach, and a lovely herb garden. All this is because of your joy of gardening, getting outside, and enjoying life. Thank you so much for your videos. I eagerly await each one.
I really loved this video u have a beautiful voice so soothing to listen to I find u so interesting person so passionate and u turn your. Hands to food and to create beautiful meals which are so wholesome keep up your good wk Chelsea. Don’t stop until are one of my favourite u tubers besides simple and natural and the happy. Caravan I look forward to your video all the time🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🐱🐱🐱🐱🐱🐓🐓🐓🐓🦜🦜🦜🦜🥕🥕🥕🥦🥦🥦🥦🥦🧅🧅🧅🧅🥔🥔🥔🥔🥔🥮
I found your channel a few years ago and look forward to them each week. It has become my special time! Thank you for being so down to earth and genuine.
Would you ever think about having a farm shop with outdoor seating and parking from spring to autumn selling eggs honey milk veg and pastries and pies? Also, would you consider raised beds? Happy new year 2024 🎉🎉🎉
Happy New Year. This was a nice video. I started watching your videos last year. I’ve been gardening and preserving for decades. I do watch a few TH-cam creators producing similar content, but you are the only one my husband will watch.
Chelsea, I'm relatively new here and I'm wondering about cooking from scratch without lots of fats and calories... but with the flavor I see in your cooking and baking. Thank you for being genuine in your videos!
I absolutely love your style! Everything from your lifestyle to your business style just makes sense to me. I’m really hoping to get my channel going this year. Personally I like how you blend in stories about your family especially the adoption/ foster aspects while not exploiting your children. As a mother of ten with children adopted through foster care myself it is near and dear to my heart. Looking forward to all your 2024 content!
Im Catholic n we don’t put tree up till Gaudette Sunday which is third Sunday of advent. It doesn’t come down till February 2. We celebrate the circumcision of Jesus, the nativity, the magi, the epiphany, the presentation n purification of the Virgin Mary. This is how Christmas is celebrated. Alleluia!
Thanks for all you share. It is such a gift you freely give. My question is, how many people do you feed? I wonder this to get a gauge on the food amount you make. Again thank you.

Knowing Dan was able to get his first car back; really hit me in the heart ❤.
Your channel stands out for so many reasons. Your kind and positive demeanor, your wealth of information, and your beautiful home and farm. I just love watching your videos. Happy New Year.
You are Dan's passion.
This actually made me tear up. He’d say the same thing.♥️

Thank You! great Q & A video. I am very happy I discovered your channel 1-1/2 years ago💗💚
Love your channel and that you share your homesteading 😊
Aww my daughter has a shoulder rabbit.
My Christmas tree is staying up at least until Epiphany.
In Germany where I live, usually the Christmas tree is up until Epiphany too.
This kitten is adorable❤
Saw your doppelgänger in Illinois yesterday. Couldn’t place the face I recognized till hours later.

love your Q&A....and watching your kitty sleeping comfy on your sofa xx
What a sweet kitten, I love cats, and tea sounds good to me. Get your cat love while you can.

I’m really enjoying your channel. Seeing a modern homestead in action is really interesting to me.
I can't wait to see Dan rebuild his Pontiac!
Look at you relaxing on your sofa. Thank you, dear one. I just adore you.

I love that someone else taking good care of our old plates , bowls, cup etc… kitty is so adorable.
Aww cute little kitty ) from Green Bay Wisconsin .
Hey Chelsea, I got a *kitten* for Christmas too!! Her name is Sadie and she’s an active, confident, inquisitive little girl! I’m really a dog person but I’m physically unable to take care of them as they should anymore and I had to put down my pup(13yrs) two years ago this month.😭
Storytime: My Mom was visiting my house and saw your cookbook sitting on my table. She’s both of those things and more!”
Happy New Year🎉
Hugs, Doc❤
This wanted my heart so much. So much love to you, Doc. You’re a bright light.♥️
We have Nollaig na mban on the 6th Jan, here in Ireland. Womens Christmas. Christmas trees don't come down till then
Happy new year Chelsea looking forward to 2024.
This was the perfect background for my canning prep tonight.
All the best!
Chelsea, awesome video as always. I’m so enjoying your Cookbook ♥️

Lol
I didn't hear a word you said because I was watching that sweet kitty behind you...haha
LOL, I don't blame you.
Wishing you and the family a healthy and happy News Year!🎉❤
Just wanted you to know how enjoyable, informative, inspiring and just plain fun your channel is.
Don't tell anyone, it's my favorite!!❤️
Love your channel! The new kitten is absolutely adorable! I can watch your gardening episodes on repeat!
First I have seen you sit down!
Looks like my new kitten! Same orange leg and black leg too! What’s her name? Mine is Punky! She reminded me of the Steampunk style of dress! ❤
Cool Cup !
Looking forward to.your videos.
Lovely video💝🇨🇦
The kitten is so cute! I just ordered my garden seeds, can't wait for warmth and sunshine!
I found your channel a few years ago and look forward to them each week. It has become my special time! Thank you for being so down to earth and genuine.
Oh that’s a big huge cup. I love that cup. That’s beautiful I drink a cappuccino like that every day just that big
Would you ever think about having a farm shop with outdoor seating and parking from spring to autumn selling eggs honey milk veg and pastries and pies? Also, would you consider raised beds? Happy new year 2024 🎉🎉🎉
I'm glad to see you sitting down ...for once.😅
I have been working every day Chelsea and miss seeing your videos. And I just happen to have a fresh cup of coffee ❤
You brighten my day when i watch your videos. May God bless you and yours. Thanks
Me and my husband have been together the same length of time as you and Dan, only from March not Feb ☺️ I was also 15 and he was 19 . 🖤🐈⬛
Yay us! It’s no mean feat!
@@LittleMountainRanch Haha so true. Love your channel Chelsea, Happy New Year 🎉🐈⬛🖤
I absolutely love your style!
Dan’s a great guy. I married twice, and both thought I was nuts for wanting this lifestyle
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I still do think she’s nuts for wanting this lifestyle!
Love your channel ❤
Love the kitten
Happy New Year to you and the family, and I do love and enjoy your videos.
Courses! Yaa!
Thank you for this video! I really enjoy how and what you create!
