I just got the 13 today. I've been walking/running with the 12 for almost 1800km, and so far, they are the best shoes I've ever had in terms of comfort and cushioning. Let's hope the GT 2000 - 13 keeps the same standards.
Guys, this is the only place I go to for shoe reviews. I don't "need" stability, but I definitely appreciate the guidance as I begin to fatigue. I bought a discounted pair of 12's (based on a previous review), and I love them for my easy days. What's interesting too is, they can move a little, if you force them. Keep doing an excellent job!
Thanks for the comparison...I love my GT-2000 12s and think I'll stick with them for now. Would really like to see a comparison between the GT-2000 and the Saucony Tempus 2!
You asked if these reviews are useful, they are extremely useful. Users, buyers, and sellers can appreciate the value you bring. I have many kms on the 12s (and other shoes)... But a nuance you may appreciate to hear is that, at least for my part, hearing your reviews gives me extra confidence in pulling out certain shoes for certain customers beyond the dry specifications since you actually run in them too and clearly go deep into the details, in other words your knowledge trickles down in a pyramid that is true and not that "trickle down snake oil". I'm all about that heel bevel now too my dude, though I don't grasp all the intricacies of it, yet; folks seem to appreciate me talking about a bevel and not just how "the heel kinda curves up at the back" ;)
For me, the most awaited comparison! Though i have already bought the 13! And i really like it!! It is the new dark horse in the running world IMO! I am flat footed-- I dont have any injuries or niggles due to it but i still want to be comfortable every now and then in a shoe that lends to some mild stability on the medial side whilst not being boring and clunky! GT-2000 13 does it for me. Also, I like the flex grooves in the outsole on the 13... they help a faster toe off! Another good use for me is when i got to stand for long hours... these feel really good! So, i often wear them to work. DoR, I was curious to know from you guys if 13 is an improvement over 12... and it sounds like I did make a better choice in opting for 13 over 12.
I bought 13 this time and I fully agree with you, unlike 12(though I didn't try it) and novablast 4(which I used to wear for daily miles), 13 felt more firmer and tight. Now all I just do, is waiting for ASICS's next line up such as Novablast 5, and I just heard that it will be came out with new midsole(BlastMax I guess?) then along with that 14 might be softer again.
Something that's interesting to me is the 13 has a midsole I can only describe as almost-shiny in texture, or less dry than the 12. I think this material difference might contribute to some of the differences in feel. If the 12 doesn't work for someone, they might feel it as "dead" instead of "soft" (especially when breaking it in). The 13 has a noticeably different feel, which is less energy-sapping when running (if you felt that way in the 12). The other thing that backs up some of Matt's description is there's an extra strip of connected outsole rubber on the 13 just behind the ball of the foot. This might act as a bottom-loaded stiffening agent across the medial side of the shoe, where the 12 had a more flexible outsole pattern.
Very satisfied with the 11, except maybe for the terrible laces, but version 12 completely ruined it for me. It put a lot of strain on my achilles. After 3 months (400km) I had enough and changed back to an older New Balance 860 with 900km on the dashboard and now things seem to be moving in the right direction.
Imagine the previous version I used is Gt-2000 6 and compared to the 12, it´s a huuuge update. Considering to get a pair for my easy days and some long runs.
I like using the GT-2000 12 for my easy day runs. I like the stability of the shoe together with the cushioned midsole. For durability it is reasonable good. I ran over 700 km in them. On one shoe I'm getting a little hole in the upper above my big toe and there's some damage on the inside of the heelcollar. Midsole feels pretty dead as well for a while now. Still I like the shoe for the purpose of easy days and will probably replace them for a new discounted pair of 12's.
@@bluesque9687they make a good combo if you are a neutral runner. De Gt2000 is ideal for recivery en slow daily whilst the noosa is a perfect shoe for faster runs and intervals. Both low stack and the latter low drop which supports foot strength.
@@wesw6787 If i was 100% neutral... and if i had to stick to asics, then i would rather have NB in rotation with Noosa! I run regularly in GT 2000 (13 now; earlier I was running in 12 when i first discovered this line!) and i recommend it without hesitation to anybody who is looking for a good stability shoe... but for neutral running i think there are better options!
I had the 2000-7, 10 and 12 and the 12 felt the best to me due to its increased cushioning, so I'll skip the 13 and wait for the 14 and try a different model in the meantime.
Nice comparison! Think I will go for the 12’s as a daily and long run shoe when I start building a new rotation. Thinking of getting a pair of Brooks Hyperion GTS 2’s to pair with them and keep my Saucony ES4’s for races and key workouts. Does that sound like a good shoe rotation?
I'm coming from the Kayano 29 as a walking shoe where I need that overpronation protect that i don't notice but is effective in protecting my ankles after many miles. That said, I'm cautious about the changes of the newer Kayanos. Is the GT-2000 a could direction to go towards? Are there other options? Thanks in advance.

My test miles are almost done on the Tempus 2, so comparisons are coming! -Matt
Hey DOR, can you compare the Kayano 31 versus the GT 2000 13? I'm very curious to know the result.

I really like the 12's. My favorite daily trainer right now. I think the upper/fit of the 13 on the rest of the 12 would be a perfect shoe.
been waiting for this... big help as always!
Thank you, been waiting for this exact video from you. I think I´ll try the 13.

How about gel kayano 31 vs gt 2000 13, what's the difference and which is better

Dude I had the GT and was very disappointed, First run in 860 v13 was just Perfect I love them so much more

I'm wondering about one thing.
How objectively softer midsole in v.13 (18.5 HA) vs v.12 (25 HA) translates into subjectively firmer ride in v.13?

Thanks. I need a relatively stiff forefoot for my big toe. Is the 13 stiffer than the 12 in the forefoot?
Super helpful !
The 12 died on me around 300km...loved the stability in the shoe but the foam always felt very boring/dead to me. Maybe my weight?? (195lbs)
Thanks for the review. I was just wondering if I should get a pair of 12s from the lucky size wall
I love the asics gt-2000 12, and together with the asics noosa tri 16, they make a great pair. Are you thinking about trying the ASICS noosa tri 16?
These two shoes are opposites!
GT-2000 lends to mildly pronounced stability in the medial side whereas Noosa Tri 16 lends to overpronation!

Hello, what are the best shoes for people who WALK more than 10km per day everyday at work ?
Thank you
Wouldn’t the snugness issue be resolved by getting the side of extra wide options?

13 for sure
