I live in the UK I have been taking Levothyroxine for over 25 years, at no time have I heard any of the information you have just given. I found out all of that info is in the BNF in the UK. I spoke to my GP who said she thought the Pharmacist would have told me. I have always known that I continued to have all the symptoms of my thyroid being underactive but thought the T4 was not effectively doing its work. Due to financial reasons I was unable to go private and receive prescription outside of the NHS. Big thanks from me as I will shortly be able to order the appropriate tests and medication. Meantime I will be following all your great advice. I am so glad I have found your channel and the education I am receiving.
It's shocking doctors don't haveca clue about one of the most common illness in uk. I have to use medicheck for my blood results and I purchase my t3 and t4 in Turkey as it cost few ££
My doctor told me I could take it with my other medication’s, but on an empty stomach and don’t consume anything but water for at least a half hour. So when I wake up in the night and have to go to the bathroom at three or 4 o’clock in the morning, that’s when I take my medicine. I’ll see her again next month for my yearly check up so I will check with her then.
I have been on thyroid medication for 25 years and I was told from the start to take ir in the morning on an empty stomach with a glass of water and wait at least 30 mins before eating. I usually wait an hour but in all those years I have never had a problem. I had a complete thyroidectomy 25 years ago so I am on between 100-125 mg a day depending what my blood tests show. I am still at the same weight of 60 kilos even four years into menopause.
I had to switch from Levothyroxine to synthroid as the HMO constantly changes who they get their levothyroxine from. I use to be able to bit into my Levo, as of last year when I bit into it levothyroxine taste like cardboard. In addition I kept experiencing ups and downs ( fast & Slow metabolism) maybe because of different fillers. I am on Synthroid a few weeks now and I notice the difference. Pharmacist said hmos levo have inconsistent fillers where as Synthroid is the same all the time. Moral of the the story is pay for the synthroid it’s worth it! At least you know that your getting it from the manufacturers. Hope that helps someone, I’ve been at this since 2017 and still have not found my sweet spot. I had same issues on levo for 15 years but never well after thyroidectomy ,gut issues, lost loads of hair & weight, couldn't sleep as my heart would race when I laid down. My Doc keep saying it's not your thyroid, your bloods are fine, but out of desperation I stopped taking it & within a week I started to sleep again, so I went to see a functional medicine doctor & he put me on levo liquid + Armour & it's much better, less side effects, my TSH is much higher & I put on a little weight but I feel better this way. Leaving out gluten also helped a lot with keeping thyroid antibodies down.

My thyroid was removed 48 years ago due to cancer. I've been on Levothyroxine ever since. Nobody ever told me when to take it, that it should be on an empty stomach, or that it should not be combined with other medications. For 35 years I took it with other meds and vitamins, ever night at bedtime. Until one day the pharmacist put a label on the medication telling me otherwise. Not sure what took everyone so long. Anyway, now I take the thyroid meds every morning, on an empty stomach.
Your story sounds so much like mine, I haven't been taking it for quite as long as you, but for a very good amount of time. Just recently learned I was taking it all wrong.
My 42-year-old niece was diagnosed with Graves Disease about 15+ years ago. The levothyroxine wasn't working so she had radiation on her thyroid. For the first time, she lost a significant amount of weight and was feeling good. Of course, her insurance changed so that meant her doctor changed too. For the past 15+ years, she has been taking 350mcg of levothyroxine and continues to gain an enormous amount of weight. She is approximately 5'5" tall and weighs approximately 300 pounds. She doesn't overeat but continues to get bigger and bigger. Her current endocrinologist has her taking 400mcg of levothyroxine daily. She battles fatigue, her feet hurt and they are swollen, and her A1C is high. She is so depressed. People are cruel to obese people. She dealt with losing her aunt about 4 years ago, she found her mom dead 9 months later, her uncle died a year after that and then a few weeks ago her sister died unexpectedly leaving behind a 13-year-old daughter, an 11-year-old son, and a 3-year-old son. Those three kids have been homeless on and off for their entire lives. They also witnessed their mom being verbally and physically abused. The two older kids were abused too. The only medication she is taking is 400 mcg of levothyroxine. It just doesn't appear to be working. She needs to get her health taken care of because she is now having to raise her sister's children. If you can point me in the right direction or give me some questions she can talk to her doctor about I would be extremely grateful. Her TSH uIL/mL is 44.900 and her Free T4 is 0.34 ng/dI. It just doesn't make sense to me that her being on such a high dose of levothyroxine that her levels could be this off. Thank you!!

Ah , I have been on levothyroxine for 7 years, I get breathless (so think I need to lose weight) and I do stretch/ yoga every morning because I ache ( thinking I’m getting older) my GP has never told me any of this. Hi Dr. A little off subject…I have seen a bunch of doctors since I had my thyroid removed 5 years ago because of cancer. Some doctors have me get my labs drawn in the morning fasting before medication others tell me to have blood drawn one hour after taking meds. The doctor that is telling me to have blood drawn one hour after taking meds keep telling me I’m taking too much meds and lowing it and now I feel symptoms of hypo. When I felt pretty good I was taking 175mg of Tirosint along with 30mg Armour twice a day. He now has me on 150mg of Tirosint and 15mg of Armour twice a day. I want to do what my doctor says but it just doesn’t feel right. Hoping you can shed some light. Thank you.
That is why i hate taking the medication and why i don’t take it can’t eat or take supplements and i only eat twice a day so i have to take it with me then i forget it. It is so frustrating
I have a question. Does levothyroxine interfere with CBD oil? ( Hashimoto) I found some information that it does, and I don't feel good at all taking both of them. Can you give an advice?
I can't do the 4 hour gap of levothyroxine and no calcium, too much for me, also my mom says I should take it with water but I don't follow this all the time, sometimes with water but sometimes I take with black tea or orange juice due to my IBS, I take at 11pm at night daily. I had the worst fatigue yesterday felt so weak and very low energy and heat intolerance (I felt like fainting) even with my levothyroxine routine.
i take my thyroid medication b4 exercising at roughly 4am. i put LMNT in my water and X-Cite. A product Jeff Cavilere sells as a pre-workout. Also, when I get home, about 2 hours, I use 5g of creatine.
I take it with a large glass of water with fresh squeezed lemon, !st thing in the AM. But, is it okay to take it with LEMON in the water? Does that negatively interfere in anyway??>
What if you take Armour sublingually? Would the time shorten a bit for taking calcium or foods containing calcium? And if you take Armour at night, wouldn’t it cause insomnia?
I have been on this for years, and due to my old work schedule, I have always taken this middle of the night when I wake to use the bathroom. Not exactly same time every day, but definitely on an empty stomach. Would it be better to take same time every day, such as 10 pm or does the hour really matter? Thanks for any responses.
If you take it as soon as you wake up, is there any rule for the length of time before you drink celery juice, drink coffee and/or eat solid food? 💚 Thank you in advance and have an absolutely fantastic, fun, healthy and adventurous day ♥
I want to go back to taking my levothyroxine before I go to bed because it’s very difficult for me to take it two hours in the morning before I eat breakfast or even four hours because I eat a full breakfast before going to work. My doctor doesn’t like me taking it at night because it ruins my circadian rhythm but I have a hard time falling back to sleep when I have to wake up two/four hours earlier and take my med. What do you think, Dr. Child’s? Thank you.
Can I take YOUR T2, T3 conversion, and thyroid glandular supplements with my armor thyroid? I also take YOUR berberine and leptin resistance supplement. Should I take them separately from my armor thyroid?
Yes, they can all be used together along with leptin and berberine. And, yes, they should be taken away from your armour. Essential T2 is the only one that can be taken with armour but it can also be taken by itself.
Sounds like I need to take it before I go to bed. I've always took it first thing in the morning but after 30 I have my tea w/milk. Ive been taking my synthroid like that for 14 years whoops.

What I do is I take mine at 7:50 by 9 am I take my first coffee and eat breakfast then I take iodine, and selenium and if I have another med like me I take metformin I wait another 30 minutes and I take that.

I had to stop taking it because of the side effects. I didnt know about the 4hr seperation from taking iron & calcium.
What if you take Levothyroxine and Liothyronine , can you take them together?
Question: can Levothyroxine cause cardiac arrhythmias?
I take it with a large glass of water with fresh squeezed lemon, !st thing in the AM. But, is it okay to take it with LEMON in the water? Does that negatively interfere in anyway??>
What about radadiation-induced hypothyroidism? Can I follow same advise you give in your videos?
Can you recommend what to do with difference in time zones North America - Asia where night turns into day
I take Levothyroxine, in the morning. I drink water, but it has Crystal Light in it.. Is this ok?
What if you take Armour sublingually? Would the time shorten a bit for taking calcium or foods containing calcium?
And if you take Armour at night, wouldn’t it cause insomnia?
I have been taking my levothyroxine 1st thing in the morning along with my enteric coated SAMe. Is that okay?
I have been on this for years, and due to my old work schedule, I have always taken this middle of the night when I wake to use the bathroom. Not exactly same time every day, but definitely on an empty stomach. Would it be better to take same time every day, such as 10 pm or does the hour really matter? Thanks for any responses.
I do the same.
I take my levo at bedtime because I can't wait an hour for my cup of caffeine the morning!
I take it at 3 am when I let my dog out to pee
If you take it as soon as you wake up, is there any rule for the length of time before you drink celery juice, drink coffee and/or eat solid food? 💚
Thank you in advance and have an absolutely fantastic, fun, healthy and adventurous day ♥
I read somewhere that you can eat after 1 hour of taking the meds.
I've always taken it when I go to bed. And always leave four hours before and after food.
My endo has told me to double my Levothyroxine only one day a week ( I take Levothyroxine and Cytomel). What is the reasoning for that recommendation?
What about with D3?
I take cholesterol before bed should i wait
I want to go back to taking my levothyroxine before I go to bed because it’s very difficult for me to take it two hours in the morning before I eat breakfast or even four hours because I eat a full breakfast before going to work. My doctor doesn’t like me taking it at night because it ruins my circadian rhythm but I have a hard time falling back to sleep when I have to wake up two/four hours earlier and take my med. What do you think, Dr. Child’s? Thank you.
The manufacturers leaflet says to take it 1 hour before the first meal of the day. No need to leave 2 hours before a meal.
I try the morning but either coffee or food wins.😂 I will try at night
Thanks.
How about with birth control? My dr said it was fine.
i have a hard time not skipping doses or with taking at the same time. it's gonna be very hard
Sounds like I need to take it before I go to bed. I've always took it first thing in the morning but after 30 I have my tea w/milk. Ive been taking my synthroid like that for 14 years whoops.
For me,I was taking without water
Thank you!

I took it WRONG FOR 23 years!!!!!!!
With black coffee?
❤👍
Let’s say I take it in the morning at 8:00 AM. Empty stomach. When is best to start eating? After 15 minutes? 30 minutes? 60 minutes? 90 minutes??????
An hour later it works better for me and you should not eat or drink coffee only water, and no other medications.
What I do is I take mine at 7:50 by 9 am I take my first coffee and eat breakfast then I take iodine, and selenium and if I have another med like me I take metformin I wait another 30 minutes and I take that.
Iodine with hashimotos is a bad thing
