    Great review Shane. This is definitely on my short list. It’s in my budget which is really the bottom line. One thing you forgot to mention, which is I think some of the best features. The wide range of lens shift like 96 % vertical and 47% for horizontal. Don’t quote me but it’s close. And the 10 presets for lens memory. A must if you don’t have the budget for a anamorphic lens. I know you are not using the full panel by zooming, but it’s still just projecting black bars. Might as well get rid of them. And as always IMO.

    Thanks for this. Been going back and forth on whether to get the 3800 which is smaller, more portable, and much more affordable, or this. Since I don't have a true dedicated dark room, I'm leaning towards the 3800, but the full color range and better contrast is really compelling. Just not sure if the difference will be worth the extra money ($1600 right now for the 3800 vs $4000!) in a non-light-controlled room.

    Best Projector under 5K if you are doing a Constant Height CinemaScope setup. The 5050 is the exact same projector except you do not get the cable cover, xtra bulb, mount and the 6050 has a longer warranty, The 6050 and 4050 are made for installers.

    Thks for the review Shane. I'm using the Epson HC4000 now...looking at upgrading when laser projectors become more affordable. As of now, I think projectors can't beat the image quality on OLED TVs which is pretty disppointing

      Epson is coming out with the EH-LS12000B and EH-LS11000B, they will be basically true 4k, they're technically e-shift, but they've got majorly upgraded LCD chips that flash 4x, compared to the 2x of the 6050ub. This essentially makes it as sharp and dense as a 4k DLP or LcoS. It'll be very hard to tell a difference from true 4k. It's also got way better black levels at 2.5 million to 1, due to Lazer dimming. It is going to be unbeatable.

    I just hooked up this exact unit to my system along with a new Marantz AV8805, added a second sub, added 4 Atmos in ceiling speakers and 4 wide heights for a total of 15 speakers. All adds up to WOW!! This projector is amazing. Nice a bright on a super flat 120” screen. Like looking at an HD TV. Really. Don’t sell yourself short and buy a lesser unit to save a few bucks. BUY THIS ONE. Plus, this unit adds in a nice ceiling mount, extra lamp and an extra year of warranty. Easy remote to use. This is a no brainer folks. Now I’m never leaving my house! 😂🥃

But am looking into upgrading into either a Optoma UHZ 65 or a Optoma HHZ 65LV. I saw you did a review on the Optoma 65 UHZ. Would you day it was better than the Epson 6050? For epson to hold a "black case" hostage in a sense for $1000 dollars just seems unethical to me. I considered it as my home theater contractor had both set up and I couldnt tell any difference between the 5050 and the 6050 picture quality wise. Yes I'm aware some of yall "experts" claim a difference and that's good on yall. I love my 4040, Use it with 16:9 and 2:35 screens. So anyone getting this projector will enjoy a much better version of what I already see as a great projector. My friend has a sony Native 4K that he had professionally calibrated and I was not feeling envy since I had to get about 5ft to see the 4K and I admit at that close it is better. The native 4K's will still be better IF YOU CAN CONTROL ROOM LIGHT 100%. Any light in room including white walls, ceilings and the Epson starts to look better as the native 4K's in that price range are darker. I think that was why I was less impressed with my friends as he has white walls and ceilings which I have begged him to change since his theater room is dedicated. The Lens memory and remote shifting is the real magic of these epsons. I love pressing a button and my 2:35 screen comes down and the projector zooms, focuses ans shifts to fit that screen, It is magical IMHO.

The way you described topics and features that I think are important were just easier to understand. Thank you as now I feel I'm not going into this purchase blind and just hopeing for the best! It's been really frustrating as there just isnt anyplace in my area where I can see this projector in action, nor is there there anyone with any hands on experience for that matter. Best buy is the only place that even comes close and they only have a sony projecting on a 90 inch screen that is horrible to say the least. Great and professional review as always Shane. Would love to hear your thoughts on Epson 3D. I upgraded to the Sony from the older Epson, and the Sony 3D is major eye popping night and day difference! Crosstalk on the Epson was too distracting for me which was a major upset, being a massive 3d movie fanboy.
    In also found the dynamic mode on Epson over saturated the colour more often than not, but the digital cinema was too dim in 2d for HD. Anyway... Just my 2 cents worth 👍.
    Keep up the great work.

      @therealshanelee  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I asked the Epson engineer he said it's something like 30% (maybe 16% I can't quite remember I forgot to film it) dimmer using digital cinema when the filter is in place. Either bright image or accurate colors. Of course you can always adjust colors on dynamic to tone down saturation if you want.

    Considering the epson 6050 and the Sony 295. I have a dedicated theater room with very little to no ambient light. Given the 6050 and the Sony are $500 difference as opposed to $1000, which would you chose? I also currently own two LG OLED TVs so it was a struggle for me to switch to a projector but ultimately I want the immersive experience. Going for 150-158 inch screen depending on the aspect ratio I chose. Would appreciate any thoughts.

    I don't understand why these expensive projectors still don't use led lights? I have a 250 dollar projector and I don't pretend it's as good as this one even though the scenes you're showing don't look different than in my projector and it has an led light that lasts more than 60,000 hours yet on the specs of this projector only on eco mode does it show to have a bulb life of 7,000 hours. On my projector you can dim the light by the brightness setting, you can adjust the color temperature and you can obviously see the difference so I don't see a reason why all projectors don't have led bulbs by now except for having an excuse to gain profit on bulb replacements.

    • @therealshanelee
      @therealshanelee  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A much better lens and 4k image processing. Peak brightness and superior black levels. There are literally zero $250 projectors that have this type of quality. Let alone $500 quality.
