You Dont need to use 1 Full Sweet Potatoe to plant it.. Divide that 1 Sweet Potato to 4 pcs.. Become 4 Plant. Or just Cut a branch and stich in the Soil.. It will become new Plant.
Self efficiency, eventually u work on maximum yield. Learn to not depend on grocery stores and the government to provide food. Its a guide to independence 😒
Good info on getting roots started. However; at what point do you transfer from bottles to planter, 10 days later? I belive you started off with 6 tubers and the return shown was 6 tubers. If that's the case then return on what was planted was negligible. Answers please.
That is an old way. You can start them like that in February and take tip cuttings about two and a half inches long every three weeks and root them in water to create more plants. A week before you plant the cuttings pinch the ends to encourage branching for a healthier plant.
That wasn't a lot from the potatos. Would it be better to plant the slips and get more from one potato? I have 20-30 slips from each potato to plant. More than I have room. :)
Actually all we are doing by making these "slips" is providing the roots of the sweet potato slip more space you can bang tubers in ground and it will grow more tubers the reason for this is that the slips are basically "rooted sprouts" so the sprouts can root in the soil without being seperated because They can grow roots on the other side of the slip the side facing away from the Tuber of sweet potato this is a used method but not commonly It's A Rarely used method that I just found out about and also the sweet potato Tuber still remains fresh even when planted so it is still edible
I will not use one whole potatoe. Just cut 2 inches of it, put it right into the soil. I plant solely for the leaves as my vegetable. How do you know when the tuber is big enough for consumption. 2 or 3 months? Or from the condition of the leaves?
@@VWilt-so3ws Purple sweet potato and another type of light orange sweet potato. This vegetable is also served here in Malaysia restaurants. Normally stir fried with garlic, chillie, onions and sometimes with our local shrimp paste.
@@erichaskell they'll still grow. I've had potatoes sprout from grocery store. Just from the poatoes/sweet potatoes getting a bit old. Even while being in the fridge. Then I put them in water to grow (I didn't know I could make more) as they make a pretty plant. I didn't know we could eat those leaves either, until this video and comments.
Just think of how many sweet potatoes you would've had if you pulled the slips from the sweet potatoes and planted them in several tire planters instead of the 3 or 4 parent sweet potatoes, 50 pounds easily.

Not even negligible it's a complete loss considering time effort and money!
I planted it in the ground after 10 days it produced many roots

Cada batata pode gerar ate 5 mudas
As folhas afogadas sao muito gostosa e nutritivas.
That’s beautiful. I like the tires

How many months were the potatoes in the dirt? When are they ready?
Pls,can you send to me,how to preparing soil filling for pots.

It takes about 4 weeks to sprout in the water, not a few days.
Does pruning sweet potato vines increases the size of its tubers ?

Wouldn't leaching occur if planted in tires? Aren't the slips supposed to be snapped off & then planted? What happened to the "parent" tuber?

Thanks for your research, first I want to know how you mix the planting soils.
I'm using 70% sand, 10% chicken manure and 20% sawdust as can't get rice husks.

I used the same method on both my remaining potatoes from last year and recently purchased tubers. Mine did nothing, the stores did as yours. Why?
I don't understand which store are you referring to? You can plant by this method
@@DIYGardenIdeas Grocery store. My guess to my question is the ones bought at the grocery store were younger.
