The Prophet of Allāh (salallaahu ‘alaihi wassallam), upon whose statements and actions we establish our religion, stated in an authentic tradition:
“There will appear after me rulers, they will not guide by my guidance, and they will not establish my Sunnah; there will be amongst them men whose hearts will be hearts of devils in the bodies of men!” He was asked: “How should I behave, O Messenger of Allāh, if I reach that time?” He replied: “Hear and obey the Amīr (i.e. the ruler), even if he beats your back and [illegally] takes your wealth - hear and obey!”

A magnificent benefit from Ibn al-Qayyim [رحمه الله]:
    Allaah [تعالى] said:
«O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak aloud to him in talk as you speak aloud to one another, lest your deeds may be rendered fruitless while you perceive not.»
    [Surat Al-Hujurat: 2]
    -
Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn al-Qayyim [رحمه الله] said:
❝If the reason for the invalidation of their actions was, that they raised their voices above the voice of the Prophet, then what about the people when they give preference to their own opinions, their intellects, their tastes, their politics and their culture above that which he brought and they raise this above the Prophet.
Then is this not foremost in invalidating their actions?!❞

Hudhaifah (radiallaahu anhu) reports, in a longer hadeeth, that the Messenger of Allah said, “"There will come leaders who will not follow my guidance and will not follow my Sunnah. There will be amongst them men who will have the hearts of devils in the bodies of humans.”" He (Hudhaifah) asked, “"What shall I do, O Messenger of Allah, if I reach that?”" He replied, “"You should hear and obey the ruler, even if he flogs your back and takes your wealth, then still hear and obey.”" Reported by Muslim (Eng. trans. 3/1029/no.4554).
Allaah said: "O you who believe! Obey Allaah and obey the Messenger (Muhammad), and those of you (Muslims) who are in authority. (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allaah and His Messenger, if you believe in Allaah and in the Last Day. That is better and more suitable for final determination." (An-Nisa, ayah 59)
The Prophet salallahu alaihi wassalaam said "Whosoever obeys the ruler has obeyed me and whoever obeys me has obeyed Allaah; and he who disobeys the ruler has disobeyed me and whoever disobeys me has disobeyed Allaah." (Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim)
The Prophet Muhammad salallaahu alaihi wassalaam said: "Whoever sees from his leader something of disobedience to Allaah, then he should dislike [in his heart] what he does of sinning against Allaah, but he must not remove even a hand-span away from obedience (to him)." (Muslim, no. 1855)
It is reported that the Prophet (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, 'There will be rulers who will come amongst you who will delay the prayer from its time.' They asked, 'What should we do?' He (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, 'Pray in your homes at the time of the prayer and then pray with them.' They asked why he (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) advised them with that and he (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: 'So that the blood will not be shed.'
Al-Irbaad ibn Saariyah (radialahu 'anhu) reported: One day the Messenger of Allaah (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) delivered to us a very eloquent khutbah on account of which eyes shed tears and hearts...due to what was in it. A man said: 'O Messenger of Allaah, this is as if it were a parting advice. So advise us.'
He (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: 'I admonish you to fear Allaah, to listen and obey (to the rulers) even if an Abyssinian (Ethiopian) slave is appointed as your leader. For whosoever among you shall live after me, will see much discord.'
'Arfajah Ibn Shurayḥ reported that the Messenger of Allah (salallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said: Whoever comes to you while you are all in a state of unity and he seeks to cause rebellion and tries to divide you, then (the legitimate ruler could) execute him. (Muslim 1852.) Note: this is a conditional, legitimate capital punishment verdict to be determined and carried out by legitimate leaderships or governments - not by individuals]

« So here is the issue that needs to be clarified:Many people use the abbreviation “SAW,” “SAWS,” or “PBUH” to fulfill this obligation in their writing. Is this something that fulfills the obligation of sending the salaah and salaam on the Messenger? Let us look now to some of the statements of the scholars regarding this practice.
The Permanent Committee of Scholars in Saudi Arabia headed by ‘Abdul-‘Azeez ibn ‘Abdillaah ibn Baaz issued the following verdict when asked about the validity of abbreviating the salaah on the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam): “The Sunnah is to write the entire phrase “sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam,” since it is a kind of supplication, and supplication is worship, (in one’s writing) just as it is in one’s speech. So to abbreviate it using the letter SAAD or the word SAAD-LAAM-‘AYN-MEEM is not a supplication nor is it worship, whether it occurs in speech or writing. For this reason, this abbreviation was not used by the the first three generations, those that the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) testified to their goodness.” [8]
“SAAD” and “SAAD-LAAM-‘AYN-MEEM” are often used in some Arabic books. The English equivalents of these abbreviations would be: SAW, SAWS, SAAWS, PBUH, and the likes.
Al-Fayrooz-Abaadee said, “It is not appropriate to use symbols or abbreviations to refer to salaah and salaam, as some of the lazy ones do, as well as some ignorant people and even some students of knowledge - they write ‘SAAD-LAAM-‘AYN-MEEM’ instead of writing ‘sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam.'” [9]
Ahmad Shaakir said, “It is the absurd tradition of some of the later generations that they abbreviate the writing of ‘sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam.'” [10]
Wasee Allaah ‘Abbaas said, “It is not permissible to abbreviate the salaams in general in one’s writing, just as it is not permissible to abbreviate the salaah and salaam on the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam). It is also not permissible to abbreviate either of these in one’s speech.” [11]
And Allaah knows best. May the most perfect and complete salaah and salaam be upon our beloved Messenger, and upon his noble family and companions.»
