Tested, of course it works, but only if you need Co2 urgently to save an expensive plante, if not, for Co2 daily diffusion, pression is impossible to control/maintain. One day i had forgoten to turn it of and my aquatium was turning into lemonade, fishes survived by miracle. The Co2 reaction with jelly sugar is quite better for pressure.
The best DIY ratio is : SodaStream + adapter + electrovan (plant don't need Co2 by night).

I've looked into this idea in the past, the only thing that steered me back to this setup was the cost, by the time I purchased all of the bits to go down that route I could of purchased a used professional co2 system. Thanks for watching mate, I hope you come back!

Why didn't you come up with this idea sooner! It works so well that I'm sharing this with others. Would be interested to hear just how long this "charge" lasts ... perhaps 1 week before recharging another bottle? This is one of the simplest money-saving ideas to come from a fellow fish lover. Grrrrrrreat!!

Thank you Jerry. Well I'm currently at 1 week today and it's still going strong. I shall update you when it runs out.

how do you turn it off at night? is it safe to disconnect and let the co2 into the air in your house?

I don't turn mine off I just redirect my filter outlet to make a bit of a splash through the night, but yes it's safe to just remove the lid at night. Or you can install a little diverter valve (50 pence) in the airline. The amount of co2 given off is minimal, less than you would expect from a glass of soda. Thanks for watching!

Anything that can replace the atomizer… like a normal bubbler?

Cigarette filter or cut up chopsticks are both options. Normal bubbles will produce too large of a bubble.

@@fatturtlekingthat's amazing, I'm going to look into that, thank you!

It is trying to get the micro bubbles, the smaller they are the longer they stay in the water for gas exchange, plus multiple small bubbles have a greater surface area than fewer larger bubbles of the same volume (I hope that makes sense) i had to ask a mathematician as I couldn't work that out myself 😂😂

Hi mate, thanks for watching. It has been several years since I last used one of these as I have been out of the hobby for a while. Recently I had been playing around with different yeasts and ratios to try and get the best performance. This one has been up and running for 9 days so far and hasn't shown any signs of giving up. The last prototype lasted for 3 and a half weeks but that was in the garage, I'm not expecting this one to last quite as long as it's at room temperature but I'm hoping for two weeks. I'll keep you updated nevertheless. Thanks again, all the best!

It will be three weeks tomorrow, it's still going but today you can see a noticeable difference in performance so I will make another this weekend.
