  • I placed my order with Rocky Road Outfitters in Utah back in December. Now my rock sliders are fabricated and ready to install on my Chevy Colorado Extended Cab. Rocky-Road Outfitters has several options to choose from. Come along for the ride as I pick up the rock sliders and have them installed locally, here in Utah.

Thanks, cway44. They are not too large and obnoxious. So I like the fact they are functional but not crazy enormous.

You're in the area to need those offroad.

Hey there, Kevin. Unfortunately, work and life dictates that I travel west. It drove me crazy passing up opportunities to camp in those remote areas. I did not expect it would take over a year to get the truck outfitted for overlanding. Kinda second guessing if I went too extreme on the mods. Still hoping I made the right choices and will be able to exploit the capabilities of my setup.

Love the truck! What size tires did you run? I have a 18 Colorado wt, I have 16 inch rims as well

Hello, Dan. They are LT255 /85 R16. I had to do a lift and cut the front fenders though. They are a little over 33's but are actually slightly narrower than the stock tires.

How much ground clearance do you think you lost? I’m wanting to order these for a full size Silverado, but I’m looking for ones that give max ground clearance. Also how much would you say each one weighs?
    Thanks

Hey there, Juan. For the Colorado, there is not any loss on clearance. They are at the same level as the frame rails. IIRC, each slider weighs 60 lbs. I think the weight information is available on their website if you add the product to your shopping cart. They typically have several options for different vehicles.

I like them. I'm looking for something very similar for my '16 extended cab.

Hey there hemipirate. I was pretty impressed with their operations and their final product. I would guess they have an option for your truck.

Do yours make a lot of vibration noise? Mine just went on and 60-80km they resonate the cab to the frame. Turns the inside into a giant vibrator.

Hello, Pa He. I do not have any rattles in the cab. I am extremely surprised, considering I am coming up on 60,000 km and the Colorado is not known for having a nice interior. I did add insultation behind the rear panels, though.

@@MarioWorkedOnIt insulation? I’m talking about connecting the frame and the cab and no longer having them separate. Insulation shouldn’t do anything. Isolation maybe

Hey there, Pa He. You mentioned the frame but I was thinking about rattles/noises on the interior of the cab. I have not had issues with the frame/cab mounts. I even had the truck bed removed and reinstalled. If you have issues with the mounts or hardware, you need to take care of that! They are not hard to get access to and inspect.

Hey there, Scott. I owe you guys a video, but I have not been doing any camping. Recovery was not tough, but I would not say I am 100%. So still scared I could injure myself. But yeah, I am alive!

Hey there, Roger. I have some medical issues that I am dealing with. It has been on my mind to update everybody. I am hoping to film an update today. I ended this rock slider video in California. I am still in California and I am doing good. No accidents or anything like that. I just need to do some old man maintenance stuff.
