Started wet shaving some months ago, and a Simpsons is the first, and still, brush I use. I have a Trafalgar T1 synthetic. Holds water wonderfully, gets the hair lifted up for a BBS shave. I will definitely continue to buy Simpsons’ brushes. 💯
Hello...I have started wet shaving four months ago. I purchased the Simpson Best badger classic 2 ( knot 23mm) and I am really happy with it. Soft , great backbone and luxury feeling. I still use that one. My next one will be a Simpson again. A travel badger brush size. Greetings from Greece.
I have quite a few brushes; badger, boar, horse and synthetic. I have a bunch from PAA and a couple of Razor Emporium. But I think the best are my Simpsons and I have nine of them. I prefer the synthetic and theirs are great, and my favorite out of all my brushes is the M7 synthetic with ivory handle. I have two special edition M7 with ruby and emerald handles, but the ivory is my daily driver. I can only recall losing one bristle out of a Simpson but I can't remember which one. They aren't cheap but are well worth the money.
Got into DE shaving this year and started with the T3 synthetic after seeing reviews. Might try other sizes but it gets the job done. I don't know what I might be missing out on with badger but for the price, their synthetics are awesome.
My favorite brush is my Colonel - X2L best badger. 2 months ago i bought the limited edition Ascot super badger, but still prefer the Colonel. It's the perfect brush to me, as far as knot, loft, handle, design, quality. I'm shaving with cream and brush from 1995, the best product i've caught in my hands! Very good job Matt, bravo!!
I have a number of Simpson’s brushes. Simpson’s was actually the first rabbit hole I climbed down. My favorites are the T3 synthetic and the Barbican Boar brushes.
The Simpson Special one pure badger brush is one of their smaller and cheapest offerings. It's the only brush I've used and it's still going strong after five years.
Well delivered video, and well backed on the Badger brush debate, Badger and Boar are biodegradable Synthetic is a polyester based from oil, ordered 2 M7's Silver and 2 Captains from Simpsons recently and Anna in their customer service department had the handle colours made up to order , Simpson a real stalwart of wet shaving.
Thnx Matt, I have the col., it’s all what ya say but, in my phase of development I like the long handles. Because I enjoy lots of lather @ all cost the full experience.🙂love the scruffy boars. The best
One of their brushes is on my wish list! Made the switch from cartridge razors to DE safety razor a few months ago and I’m not looking back! Love your channel, Matt.
I have a Simpsons Chubby 3 I bought new from Matt and added it to my rotation of mostly vintage-handle shaving brushes. Simpson's Day is always a special day in the rotation: nothing feels quite like it. The knot is Simpson's Best Badger. I'm aware they offer some even higher end hair and, someday when I get rich,....
Yes indeed, Matt, I’ve been 100% on board with Simpson’s incredibly fine line of brushes since day one. I started with the T2 and T3 synthetics, then later bought both the Chubby 2 and Chubby 3…LE Manchurians. I rarely use the Trafalgars these days except for travel. I very recently acquired the new Tedalus Helios brush and stand in badger. It’s great, it’s beautiful (kind of work of art), but it’s not a Simpson’s. Simpson’s are simply the best. Cheers!
Legendary is the word for Simpson's. I have a few and will never part with them. I have many custom made badger brushes and the Simpson's hold their own. Thanks Matt, nice job.
Congrats - you're the winner of the Weekly T-Shirt give-away! Please contact us at help@razoremporium.com with your address and size and we will get it shipped out right away! Thanks everyone! Stay tuned next week for another giveaway! - Razor Emporium Team
Simpsons, fabulous, used them for decades. But, you have neglected to mention kent brushes?!. Superb quality, every bit as good as simpsons. I have used both brands for many years, cannot be beaten tbh. I think the kent bks12 synthetic beats the simpson trafalgar t3. It is a large brush with backbone, makes buckets of lather too.
As a newbie to the safety razor scene I thought I would start out with a synthetic brush and actually went for the Simpson synthetic and what can I say, amazing brush with such a soft feel yet stiff enough bristles to not lose it's form. I'm really happy with my purchase and think it will be a while until I move to the Badger brush as I'm totally satisfied with the synthetic. That's not to say that I won't own one sooner rather than later because as you know this is a deep rabbit hole and I'm already several hundred pounds in and only two months in. Once I've perfected my technique I'll definitely be looking to add one of your safety razors to my collection. I'm Currently using the Rockwell 6C and love it although it is a bit of a faff swapping the grades. Thanks for the amazing videos and keep up the amazing work you do.
Hi there! Personally, I only use synthetics. Partly for ethical reasons and partly because well synthetics these days, good synthetics, in my humble opinion are every bit as good if not better than natural hair brushes. I think a lot of folks like to use natural brushes out of habit and it's also seen as more traditional of course. But, I love my synthetics. They're perfect out of the box.. no break in period. No stinky wet dog smell. If you lose it or if it wears out you can buy the exact same brush again tomorrow.. synthetics don't vary like natural hair. No risk of inadequate sterilization etc etc. I could go on regarding the benefits of synths. Actually I know of a few shave product companies who stopped selling badger hair brushes entirely due to animal rights reasons.. these people weren't tree hugging hippies or anything, far from it, but a number of reasons lead them to their decision.. firstly they found out they were being lied to by their Chinese suppliers. I can only speak about that case but in that situation the suppliers told them the hair was a mere by product from meat.. that turned out to be a complete lie.. the badgers were solely raised and killed for the money they were getting from Western companies producing shave brushes. The "meat" aspect was over exaggerated and quite frankly lied about in that particular case.. it's believed over 90% of the profit was coming from the hair exported to the West for use in shaving brushes and little, if any meat was thought to be sold at all. Also, there were undercover investigators with hidden cameras in their badger farms. I heard it was some of the most horrific scenes. Some of the people who saw it had to receive counselling treatment and medication as it was so harrowing. Western animal rights aren't great but compared to China it's a different world. I disagree with the concept that "if you eat beef, why not use badger hair" to me that seems like trying to justify it for your own reasons.. Ethically farmed and humanely slaughtered cattle in the West lives a very different existence to farmed hair badgers in China. You should read up on the badgers used in the production of shaving brushes. I'm not telling people not to buy badger brushes.. all I'm suggesting is be aware of everything first. If you still feel like using them well that is your right. But personally even if the badger brushes were better, which I believe they aren't, I still wouldn't use them anyways as I couldn't feel good about it. A lot of suppliers will tell you anything just to sell badger hair and brushes. Anyways, modern synthetic fibres blow them away for me anyways. Like Muhle's silvertip fibres as far as I'm concerned are next level. I think the Simpson synthetics are very good but in my view, there's even better synthetics out there in my view. For very low price the Phoenix Artisan Accoutrement brushes are superb too.
I have a Chubby 1 Super Badger and although I have many brushes (badger, synthetic and boar) the Simpsons is my go to brush. I even bought my nephew (who I introduced to wet shaving) a Simpsons Berkeley. He absolutely loves it...his words "ridiculously nice" He is moving to Phoenix in November and I told him he absolutely needs to stop in the Razor Emporium.
Always enjoy Matt's U-tubes, alway interest, not much yack yack, just solid info. Keep the good info coming Matt. BTW Matt how is the February Meetup coming, any ideas what Vendor will be there? Please spill the beans. Don't own a Simpson, price scares me off. Love Omega that are lots of value for the buck. Vegan is Navajo word for CRAPPY HUNTER.
Hi Matt, I have a Simpson T2 synthetic brush, really don't care for it's not good for face lather for me, it doesn't hold water well, and you have to paint the lather on, to much back bone, the quality is great as you said..
I love my Simpsons and I got 3 chubby 3’s and 2 chubby 2’s. I just wish they sold their custom handles in the states. But, two week wait time isn’t bad for a custom simpsons brush. Also to be fair, they cost as much as ordering a custom brush here in the states an simpsons is sometimes cheaper too.
Too bad they don't still sell the "Colonel." I have a "Special," but I bought a well-used Colonal, and I like the shape better. Sure would lika a new one as the hairs are starting to come loose.
Hey Matt, I have one of the Badger razor emporium brushes and I might want to try one of these. I feel the one I have is a touch big on the face footprint. Which one of these would you recommend? Thx.
Started wet shaving some months ago, and a Simpsons is the first, and still, brush I use. I have a Trafalgar T1 synthetic. Holds water wonderfully, gets the hair lifted up for a BBS shave. I will definitely continue to buy Simpsons’ brushes. 💯
I bought a $28 Trafalgar t3 a few years ago and thats the only brush ive used since. Its held up perfectly.

Currently own a Trafalgar T3 Black Magic and a Tulip T1 from Simpsons, both are great brushes, but especially like the Tulip handles.
The Berkeley is my favorite. Even with all the inexpensive brushes available it's still worth the price.

Fantastic presentation Matt! I have the Berkeley 46 and the Wee Scot. Both are amazing!
Awesome Simpsons brush spotlight!!!!!
As a Wisconsinite I appreciate that you are a Badger fan. 3:38
Could be worse. You could be a Wolverine fan.
I have several Simpsons brushes. I love their small synthetic brush for traveling.
I absolutely love my Berkely Best Badger, so soft and comfy yet with a wonderful backbone. Pleasure to use every time😊
The best!
I like the Duke 3 in best badger; the Chubby 1 in best badger, is also great!
I have Semogue, Omega, and Razor Emporium brushes...love them all. Now I think I need to add a Simpson to may shave den. Thenks for the spotlight!

I love the Duke brush and the Milk Churn is pretty good 👍 Love Simpsons Brushes
I regularly shave with a large Simpsons “Polo,” but my favorite for travel is “The Major.” Thanks for another great video :-)
Great brushes in natural and synthetic. Used the chubby today with Mitchell's wool fat soap and your preshave bar - simply outstanding and luxurious.
Thnx Matt, I have the col., it’s all what ya say but, in my phase of development I like the long handles. Because I enjoy lots of lather @ all cost the full experience.🙂love the scruffy boars. The best
This might not even make any sense to anybody else at all, but Matt is American James Hoffman
I understand this, and 100% agree! 💯💯💯
I don’t have one… but I’ve wanted one for some time now
One of their brushes is on my wish list! Made the switch from cartridge razors to DE safety razor a few months ago and I’m not looking back! Love your channel, Matt.
Thx 🙏
My Chubby 2 is currently my go to synthetic brush.
Nice spotlight Matt!
At this time, I only have one Simpsons brush. It is their synthetic T3 brush. Absolutely love it, and it is one of my favorites synthetics.
I have a Simpsons Chubby 3 I bought new from Matt and added it to my rotation of mostly vintage-handle shaving brushes. great looking brushes but i find them expensive - would love one
Made in Germany not china.

M7 handle shape - iconic and comfortable. I am pretty sure they were the originals on that design.
Nice Brushes...
I love my Simpson's "The Captain 2"- The handle is not so short.
Legendary is the word for Simpson's. I have a few and will never part with them. I have many custom made badger brushes and the Simpson's hold their own. Thanks Matt, nice job.
Thanks for sharing
I have a Simpsons brush. As a new wet shaver, I didn’t know how it had such a history to them.
I love my 3 T3 brushes!!!

I need to get a good badger with a medium to firm backbone. I had a cheap badger but it had no backbone. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Pour moi mes préférés sont les Duck, Captain et Chubby 2 et tous en Manchurian et série limitée :-)

I love my Commodore

A quick glance of the thumbnail and I thought my boy was going all in on Old Spice all of the sudden
Was the Wee Scot too wee to show up on video? LOL
Hey Matt, I have one of the Badger razor emporium brushes and I might want to try one of these. I feel the one I have is a touch big on the face footprint. Which one of these would you recommend? Thx.
A smaller one with 20 or 22mm knot
