@@joseojeda665 he uses a triple horn because it allows him to use the full range of the French horn. He can play in f, b flat and high E flat all on one horn

Yea, something about this song just does that. Its kind of sad, yet powerful with what scene it was used in in the original trilogy. (I forgot which episode)
@@glitch_57 what are you saying? First of all, he is not playing a " horn in double" (Im assuming you mean a double horn), but is playing on a triple. Double horns are also called f horns, or horns in f, not horns in double, just so you know. If someone says they play french horn, they usually mean a double horn
People don’t realize how much skill and time it takes to be able to play something like that both soft and powerfully, and not to mention slurred! your talent is really beautiful and inspiring❤
Its amazing to look at how John Williams composes a melody like this. It appears so simple, goes from the 5 to the 1, a bold start, then moves to the 2 on the next down beat, adds a slight trill right before the bar ends to give the melody energy to move to the next section, and lands on the minor 3. Just 5 beats to go from the root to the minor 3rd, it should be so simple, but he does it in such a compelling way. Its the finesse and simplicity combined that makes this melody work so well. Would love to see a video breaking down just this one part.
Bar 6. Just look at it. Its such a simple idea he's working around. A long held out root of the 1 chord, then moving up the arpeggio of the in root position up to the octave. D---F-A-D. Super basic But he adds this playful bouncing and stair stepping, and adds the jump form the 5 to the 1 right before bar 6 to set up the motion thats about to take place. All that beauty and the skeleton of it is just a root position arpeggio...
I know this came out a while ago, but I can’t stop listening to it ever since. Every time I listen to it, as a fellow French horn player I feel like I’m being summoned when I here this! 😂
That was the most clear sound I have ever heard, that was really saucy. I can play it on a lower octave on French Horn but I can’t make it that clear when it’s on the lower!
I am trying to learn this to surprise my band teacher and I can’t find this anywhere else. This is my favorite piece of all time. I have been using the music shown above to learn. Thank you and you are a great inspiration. Keep up the good work
i was in a community band and we got a Star Wars medly where This horn part Was NOT moved to another instrument. It took weeks of practice but I hit that note strong and steady....then the lead trumpet dropped out and they scrapped the piece for the concert..
I’m a trombone player but I got the opportunity to try out the French horn yesterday, and after playing it for only about an hour ish, i gained a new respect for you hitting all those high notes. I could barely squeak out a double C one time so that D sounds so much harder with that in mind. Props to you for being absolutely goated 🙌
There is a high A in a song I am playing in a concert tonight and I can barely play that! 😭😭 That high D is insanely impressive especially considering how good it sounds!
Watched this so many times and it never got old. That tone is beautiful and there’s something about the solo horn without the orchestra that’s just so cool.
I just started learning how to play the horn yesterday, it's my first time playing brass, I usually play the sax, can't wait to learn pieces like this!
That D above the bar doesn't even sound like its hard to you. Huge respect for how clean and easy you make this master piece sound
It’s a lil easier for him cuz he has a triple horn
