    Shamir's strokes are great. Aesthetically pleasing and probably very effective too. Kudos to him.

    Nice video coach! Shamir's strokes are nice and he has some good upside. The challenge for him to get to the next level will be to effectively 'tag' the ball coming off his opponents racquet, early prep and urgency getting set up so he can stroke the ball the way he wants. Lot's of waiting and passivity with the footwork, and the ball playing him, versus the other way around.

    Awesome work! 🙌🏼 The half court high balls are my fave shots to hit, haha. Lately, I’ve been practicing drive/swing volleys but they’re really hard to apply in a real match! Also, I’ve been playing 5-9 hours of tennis a day 4-5 times a week and it’s super hot here 🥵 I’m so tanned now 🤣 I noticed that my performance level drops the more I play to the point of overplaying! 🤔

    Shamir is a good example of a recreational player. I myself am around 4.0-4.2 player and trying to become a 4.5 player. I see a lot of Shamir's issues in my game. Thank you very much for the great content. Pozdrav iz Zagreba!

    These guys could do a buddy comedy, and it would still be one of the most informative tennis videos on TH-cam! These are the most applicable instructions because the situations are realistic, as are the expectations given the skill level of the student. Also, the open candor leaves no room for ego. Well done! 💪🏻

    "You've gotta be punished for that". Brutal Nik! 😂 Great job getting Shamir to focus on the important aspects of his game that will get him back to the 4.5 level rather than obsessing over technique or hitting hard. I had a student earlier this week that was hitting the corners of the service box and winning points either outright or with the third ball but still wasn't happy because the serve wasn't, in his mind, fast enough. I tried to get him to realise that power doesn't necessarily equal a great serve and being accurate and consistent, with enough pace, is more important for him at his level of play. Thanks as ever for the content! 🎾

    Wise statement about low level tennis - is when you hit the ball hard but miss it every 2nd shot. That's how 1/3 of rec players play all their life and don't wnat to change :)

    Extremely relatable video. My stamina is my weakness so I try to finish points before the moment I’m huffing and puffing. In a good day, half will go in and the rest to the net or out. Earning the right to go hard should be my mantra

    Just found your channel, coming back to the sport after years of on and off casual play with a determination to get better and become consistent enough to play matches without getting frustrated with my error rate (i'd guess i'm around 3.0-3.5). Your videos are to the point, helpful and use points of comparison to the technique of great players we all watch whilst adapting them to be more suitable for recreational/club players. Most online coaches I see just ask you to emulate a pro movement, but we can't do that as mere mortals..! Thanks for your hard work

    improving a lot shamir, that footwork on the forehand getting better and better, if you can move that well on the bachand side youre gonna be a real threat, no way you dont reach 5.0 with nick, injuries happen, but i think what we may lose physically we gain mentally, i had a bad right shoulder injury, a doctor told me forget about tennis or any sport than involves your shoulder, after 2 years of fitness and rehab, i got to play the best tennis of my life, even going for overheads falling behind me without even worrying about my shoulder, now its like it never happened, only time i feel my shoulder a little inestable is when swiming in the sea, because water is more unpredictable, but im fitter than ever on a tennis court, i just hope you end up not feeling handicaped and going full out in every match, thats an amazing feeling, win or lose

    I've noticed big improvements in my match play when I try to hit my forehands and backhands at 70-80 percent. I am working on a new serve technique right now, and have found more consistency especially when I drop my pace some(70-80 percent again). In terms of the progression on my serve- do you recommend staying at the 70-80 percent level or try to build in the explosiveness right away. Love the idea of earning the right to go hard. You need the context, and technique to support ripping the ball!

    Shamir's FH looks really solid 👍
    On some defensive shots when he "slaps" the ball to fly high with no spin, I'd address it from the body: leaning back makes racquet face open, and we do same steep path, but with stringbed open and no spin as a result. Keeping good vertical/forward lean posture resolves this mostly

    • @elchanclascocina
      @elchanclascocina 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds on point, challenge is to arrive there with enough time for the body to have that position and not being pushed back, which is what the rival will look for.

  • @sophiak4299
    @sophiak4299 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Damn you Nick for letting this secret out :D . The reason I often play well against young people (esp. men) , even as an older middle aged woman, is that I can rely on them to be hotheads and just hit the ball out. I won a match last week against a younger stronger player with better technique, just because of errors. They try to finish the point too soon. That's a big difference between older and younger players. Don't take away our old player advantage please ;)

    So true. My coach says my biggest problem is having great hands. So I can slap or arm the ball back in play when I'm tired or compensate my bad footwork. It's teaching me bad habits since I can keep it in play. I have to keep using my body through the whole point and get in position even if it is more tiring.

    Nice looking forehand Shamir, made a good point about Rafa training different forehand finishes as well I thought and as rec players we're always going to run into better players no matter how good we get, it's your idea of your game that sustains you not just it's raw practicality. We've already seen Anna keep her two handed smash cos it's fun, revolution!!!

    When I get a high ball on my fore hand, and I'm within the box, I just kill it. If the ball comes fast at me, killing the ball will be an easier and shorter reaction than loading up for a high forehand. If the ball is slow, I still kill it, cause loading up for a high forehand takes energy I don't really need to take if I can end the rally right there.
    I understand he didn't do it this time cause he was mid coaching.
