Everyone: Polt, go kill him! You've got it in the bag! Polt: Nah, I'll just wait until he stops struggling entirely. Bly: *throws army against seiged position in frustration* Polt: Like that.
When I started watching SC II, you still used to say "slowly but surely" and "do end up falling" all the time. I still loved your style and your never salty attitude. :)
I started watching in the later half of heart of the swarm with winter and yourself, as well as a lot of just watching pro matchs live commentated. Started playing maybe a month or two after heart of the swarm came out, much love from Australia for all the good work. So, what, 2014-2015? wow, 5-6 years.
I started watching SC2 replay casts around 2011-2012 and paused for a few years. Ever since I stumbled over your channel in 2017 I am hooked again! I have never ever played SC2 myself though. The game is so entertaining and your passionate casting is something I am looking forward to after a long workday :-)
My father bought me the original SC in 1997 when I was still 5 years old. I liked it so much he got me BW the next year as soon as it came out. I accidentally discovered a Korean SC:BW commentary much later on, early youtube days, probably 2008. My favorite English speaking SC:BW commentator was CholeraSC, and I didn't get into SC2 commentaries as much due to casters either not explaining much, not looking at tactics or just shouting too much (people like this at tournaments? I think it's strange). And then I came across you. Best commentator in this game and severely underrated imho, much love from Greece :)
started watching / playing in 2010 after a lot of years watching / playing wc3. Dont play sc2 anymore but i like watching it and like youre channel. You and grubby are my favorite channels. =) Thanks a lot.
I was playing the 1st SC and broodwar since I got my first PC more than 20 years ago. Just campaign and custom games. When SC2 came, I was watching the beta games and played ladder. Now mostly just watching. Still remember the legends back then: MC, Idra, TLO, WhiteRa, Jaedong... and I still remember Polts friendly rivalry with Hydra. Glad the guy is back and playing again. He has always been one of my favorites even though I'm a Zerg player. :) Keep up the good work LowKo
I am happy to see you do a commentary on Polt, hes probably the person that made me interested in watching sc2 a few years ago and he was my favorite sc2 pro to watch back in the day
I started playing SC2 when wings of liberty came out. I played SC1 and brood wars as i was growing up. Used to play wings of liberty religiously in high school. Stopped playing the game 2 years ago and started watching you channel early 2018. Ty for listening to my TED talk
started watching this channel (and with that sc2) in 2018, as RTS fan since Dune2 & C&C player ever since, i was never a war/starcraft fan, but i sure enjoy the beauty of a well played RTS match!
Started watching in 2015 with WCS Premier League Season 1 and Polt vs Hydra in the grandfinal. I loved Polt back in the day, cause he made playing terran seem easy, so i am very happy to see him back and taht he is still on par with the worlds best. Also: I never played Starcraft (when you dicard the campagne)
I started watching SC2 Cast back in 2011. HomerJ was the absolut Boss back then I would watch him on my old I Phone 3GS in 360P after School and talk with my Friends about him. I started watching your Cast in 2016 while I was studying and playing Ladder in the free Time. Starcraft has a special Place in my Heart it reminds me of the Past and the way i felt back then. Besides your Cast are better than everything on Netflix, keep up the good work Lowko!
13:57. So I know this is crazy but I'm a long-time RTS fan. Played C&C and others throughout the years. Didn't pick up SC2 until Dec of 2019 and it firmly has its hooks in me. In bronze league. Enjoying learning more and watching replays now that I have some sort of idea of what's going on is too much fun. Loving it so far. Thanks for the videos. Keep up the good work.
I started watching as I started playing: on release. I was watching games on a french cast, "Pomf et Thud". Eventually stopped playing and never had the drive to try to get ranks again.
I played WoL when it came out, but would say i really started to understand it when HotS came out and you made a bunch of tutorials on how to play zerg :) Thanks for the years of great content lowko!
Everything about this right here. I did buy and play SCII, beat the campaign, did the online, and THAT was more than enough for me. I dont want to make a lifestyle choice out of it :D

I only started watching SC2 since I saw your casts like 3 months ago! Was reaaallyyy into Brood War when I was younger but haven't played many RTS games in my adult life.
I was watching a friends older brother play vanilla StarCraft. Started playing Broodwar when it came out later SC2 when it launched. Been playing all through these 20 odd years. I started playing when Wings came out, but then didn't play for ages until 2019 where I bought the last two expansions and started watching largely your casts of games. It's the only esport I enjoy watching.
I started playing Starcraft 2 in 2010 but I stopped in 2012 and I could only pick it back up in 2018 which I have been playing since then. Despite not playing Starcraft after 2012, I was constantly watching pro games and keeping up to date with the community
I probably started watching in 2012. I stopped watching around 2014, because my friends with whom I watched stopped watching. Around 2015/2016 I saw your channel and you got me hooked again. I have watched every video on this channel since 2015/2016.
I started watching SC2 around 2015 and my fav SC2 player back then actually was Polt! I was sad when he had to leave pro scene behind for military service so it's great to see him compete at the top level again.
I started playing in 2010 and started watching husky and a few wcs games a few years later. I had a lot of pauses in watching and playing throughout the years but I always come back to the game :)
I was a big fan of SC1, so I pretty much started playing SC2 when it was first launched. I remember being so psyched up about WoL's 30-mission-long campaign and its story branches. We may have gotten used to it after HoTS and LoTV, but back then it was unprecedented to have such a non-linear campaign in RTS. It is really amazing how long this game has lasted and how far it has come. While it may not be as popular as it was during its heyday (thanks to the rise in popularity of Mobas and the decline of RTS in general), it is still a great achievement. Very nostalgic thinking of SC2's history this way.
I started watching SC2 in 2011, started playing SC1 in 1999. Started watching Husky, Day9 and HDstarcraft. Good times. SC2 has improved so much since then though. The games are a lot more dramatic and the skill level of pro players so much higher. I do wish that a Starcraft 3 was in the works, though. The SC scene needs a boost (especially after Blizzard's poor management of the 2019 Blizzcon Championship. Ugh.) Thanks for all you do, Lowko. I watch your casts as often as I can. Keep up the good work.
Got into SC2 when it first released, so 2010. I played a little but mostly watched for the most part. I look back at the meta then compared to now and just laugh, it's come so far. Stephano would have to be one of my favourite players of all time, I really enjoyed his style of Zerg. After Heart of the Swarm I stopped watching and playing SC2 but got back into it at the end of last year, thanks to you. Really got into playing ranked as well and I'm thoroughly enjoying it again, I've missed SC2.
i played BW on 2006 and got hooked to SC. I watch SCII since it came out but only started playing it after I switch from PS3 to PC on 2014 (after the launch of PS4), It was the first game I purchased for PC and the main reason I changed from consoles to PC.
I started watching your videos about a month or two ago. Actually my brother used to play starcraft I when it was released back at the time. I remembered the units and tech were cool, also mixed up with all the aliens / predator movies from around that time.
Was interesting the talk about the age, and make me think: if this would be called a "sport", should we compare it to something like tenis or more like chest? In chess, you would have older people who still can win tournaments easily, maybe we only dont have SC2 granpas cause... the game is old but not chess like old :P
A lot of it is practice though. People can play guitar at an advanced age if they have done so for a long time. I feel like StarCraft could be similar to that.
Well in chess you don't move a piece 600 times a minute. ofc if you play blitz or bullet you have to move pretty fast but what I'm trying to get at here is that you need to have fast hands to press all those buttons. But I think the biggest reason is that if you start playing when your 13 and play for four years you're gonna be much better than a 40 year old playing for four years.
Age does matter a lot in chess as well. You can get a lot more training done and memorize a lot more than older people. With training i mean for example stamina because these 5 or 6 hour long matches can drain your energy a lot. Also you have to memorize a lot of different openings, positionings, structure and much more.
@@LowkoTV I always figured the early retirement was due to hand pain? I played SC2 for a few years but eventually my hands were hurting and I had to cut down a lot, and my APM isn't constantly 350-500 like some pro players.
In mixed martial arts (eg ufc) a lot of the division champions are surprisingly older - mid to late thirties is generally when the best are hitting their peak (and this is among those training since childhood.) It's theorized that due to such a wide variety of potential strategies, and the rate of change in the meta, the extra experience is more valuable than youthful physicality. Many fighters are still competing into their late 40's (and though maybe not champs at that age, they are still quite elite.)
On a totally unrelated note.. the fascinating thing about phrases like _"none other than"_ is that you can just skip them without losing _any_ information whatsoever.
It's sorta flipping the usual "zerg forcing others to be aggressive or they take over the map with eco" strat on its head.. in this case, zerg is forced to be aggressive and break out to have their map control :)
Also startet watching and playing Late 2010. Follow the scene since then sometimes more sometimes less. I attended at some Barcrafts (when they where a thing back then), watched MLG, Homestory cup 1 and so many more Tournaments. I have so many fond memorys. Sadly i´m not able to play the game anymore.
I started watching sc2 when heart of the swarm was released. I love the zerg, so yeah, it got me into watching pro matches and got me into the scene. That's how I got to find your channel! Whoop whoop!
I don't remember the exact year I started watching Starcraft regularly, but it must have been at least 2013 because that was the year of the first WCS global finals event I watched.
Started playing sc when I was in the elementary school. Start watching pro gamers play SC2 in 2010 Will try to seek myself playing SC10 at the age of my 70s.
I discovered sc2 back in around 2010 watching Husky. I mostly enjoyed watching though I did play for a bit, just getting back into it now after 7 years away!
Technically speaking, I started watching SC2 in like.. 2008 or something.. when they were showing the pre-release gameplay teasers to show off the new units and mechanics :D
I don't remember the year but possibly 2010? I remember the 111 Destiny Cloudfist name, Terran TLO, Prime clan with W.E., the old Archon Toilets, the sometimes awful close spawns in Metalopolis, Shakuras plateau? The massive cheese in Steppes of war. So I guess I've been there for a while.
i started watching / playing during HotS, around 6 or so years ago! actually played against Polt when he was in CMstorm after LotV first came out ( even though i was only platinum xD )
To answer you question I started playing and watching SC2 on release of wings of liberty... Still remember when Polt won against Stephano cant remember what turnament it was but Polt pulled a rabbit out of hes hat that time. Good old times when TB and Apollo casted togheter.
Woooow had not seen a game of Polt for soooo many years! (started playing when WoL came out in 2010, and even though I dont play much these last years, mostly co-op, still love the game and watch it a lot. I dont think I am ladder material... never tried though)

I don't remember the exact year I started watching Starcraft regularly, but it must have been at least 2013 because that was the year of the first WCS global finals event I watched.
Started watching and playing 2018 off of a random TH-cam recommendation for the WCS final of 2018 with Serral vs Stats.
Started watching SC2 back in the day 2012-2013 with 'THE' foreign hope NaNiwa and got hooked pretty fast and haven't stopped watching since.
I started playing the game in 2010, found the game by the protoss beta gameplay trailer and i loved it.
I started watching SCII around 2017/2018, thanks to Lowko mostly. I like WarCraft III pro matches but SC II are very good aswell.
Started playing when game released in 2010. Started watching professional games in Hots. Especially when Life was was around
Some Vipers vs all these Medivacs would have been nice
I started playing SC2 in 2010 as soon as it was released.
Started playing sc when I was in the elementary school.
Start watching pro gamers play SC2 in 2010
Will try to seek myself playing SC10 at the age of my 70s.
my parents got me into SC1 in the late 2000s, Started watching SC2 with HDStarcraft and Husky
Started watching/playing in WoL beta. The good ole days
Played since release of sc2, and watch since i found your channel half a year ago.
Last time I played we had to research siege mode and way before hell bats became a thing.
It's making me feel warm and fuzzy insinde to support you with watching the video
2012 was a fun year to start SC2. Good times
Been watching since 2010, right now Im 22 meaning in 2022 I can say Ive been watching/Playing for half my life 😁
i started watching / playing during HotS, around 6 or so years ago! actually played against Polt when he was in CMstorm after LotV first came out ( even though i was only platinum xD )
To answer you question I started playing and watching SC2 on release of wings of liberty... Still remember when Polt won against Stephano cant remember what turnament it was but Polt pulled a rabbit out of hes hat that time. Good old times when TB and Apollo casted togheter.
18:40 i didn't expect that, nice.
Well, the older they become the more patient they are. 😂👍👌Since 2015-16 I'm watching StarCraft.
Woooow had not seen a game of Polt for soooo many years! (started playing when WoL came out in 2010, and even though I dont play much these last years, mostly co-op, still love the game and watch it a lot. I dont think I am ladder material... never tried though)
I started playing and watching Starcraft 2 (and 1) 7 years ago, when my dad told me about it. We still play together sometimes!
