- Cuore e amore, anima e diletto: the language of contemporary pop songs has its roots in the poetic tradition of Italian opera. One of the most popular and entertaining operas of all times is without doubt Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, written with Italian librettist Lorenzo da Ponte. Let's listen to the main arias of this opera buffa, which reminds at times of a modern soap opera with its convoluted plot and over-the-top romanticism. We'll take a well-deserved respite from our grammar lessons and we'll learn some interesting vocabulary together.
