    "One passenger died on impact after being hit in the chest with a tray table."
    And that, ladies and gentlemen, is WHY you put your tray tables up when landing.

      What do you do when on a passenger airplane?
      a. Too cautious: You always pick a seat at the back and on corridor, check the emergency exits. You close your eyes and imagine how you find the exits with zero visibility, how you overcome obstacles or manage possible injuries.
      b. Savior: You fantasize about heroically saving everyone by spotting problems before they emerge or by taking control of the aircraft because the crew is compromised or be saving alive but injured passengers after the crash.
      c. Paranoid: You are scared! Every little turbulence could be the end! What did they just say on the intercom? Is it a code for "we are all gonna die"? Maybe you should stop watching so many place crash shows.
      d. Too far: You wish the plane is going to crash so that you can get a first hand experience of one of these incidents.
      "a", "b" and "c" are OK, but if you are a "d" kind of person, please talk to a professional.

    Watching these videos puts me in a roller coaster of emotions; from horror to surprise to utter sadness/grief to disgust and anger.
    Though I've also learned so much from these; i.e how small avoidable mistakes can have big consequences and end in tragedy (i.e pilot error/fatigue, poor maintanence or training, cutting corners/costs, negligence, mechanical failure, metal fatigue, design flaw, poor communication, etc.), company transparency when they knew failure was inevitable, toxic hierarchy or profit culture, etc.
    As a frequent traveller, I'm grateful that commercial aviation has come so far- not because of the accidents & lives lost, but for the improvements made.

    I read in the report for the Northwest DC-9 that the F/O was fairly new to the airline having recently left the Air Force where he flew B-52s. Before pushback he and the Captain had a discussion where he fabricated several aspects of his service; namely ejecting from an aircraft twice and actions in Southeast Asia. It's also noted the Captain was returning to flying after some time away. It's scary how these factors resulted in how the Captain essentially became totally reliant on his much less experienced colleague, likely compounded by his tall tales and confidence. This combined with the F/O's likely intention to make a good impression and not let on if he himself was becoming confused led to the accident in my opinion.

    • @markversfeld1027

      I look upon Air Force pilots as far superior to any civilian pilots. I tend to forget that they are only human and they too are prone to human limitations.

    • @aewtx
      @aewtx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@markversfeld1027 I think they are superior too, but they also have superior planes. Many of the maneuvers they are able to do on those planes can't be done on ordinary commercial planes. So even if a pilot was indeed capable of getting them out of the jam, the plane might not have been able.

    • @markversfeld1027
      @markversfeld1027 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aewtx I don.t agree with that, there has to be a set standard with whatever aircraft manufactured, commercial or military, I was at an airshow where an x airforce pilot put a 737 through it's paces , manoeuvres that you would never see on normal flights..it was a very impressive display, so even a commercial aircraft will surprise you as to what it can do.

      lol isnt that the job of a first officer? even a retard could look out the window and give directions .. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what kind of morons do they hire if you need a phd to follow simple directions!! I must be a genius then since I can follow simple direction without flying a B2 bomber and the Airlines needs better standard

    • @ivaneurope
      @ivaneurope 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@joelsterling1445 And what's really terrifying is that those two suicide crashes were nearly a year and a half apart. The reason why LAM crash was not extensively covered by the media (at least according to some sources in the episode) was that the incident was in a "third world country", while the Germanwings one happened in France. Which means that the aviation industry was practically blind about it and failed to take measures in time in order to not allow such incident to occur again.

    My amazing dad was a mud engineer before I was born and then the majority of my teenage years. He always shared all of the dangers and risks with me and tell me how much he hated flying out there on the choppers as he called them. I would make him come and hug and kiss me and tell me he loved me before he left. EVERY single time. I didn’t always remember bc he always left in the very early morning, but if anything had happened to him, I would’ve been crushed. Absolutely devastated!! Prayers to all of the victims of all crashes but especially offshore rig workers. They risk their lives every time they go out there bc there are a slew of things that could potentially end their lives. Not only flying out there but also being out on the rigs. My dad told my many stories about how his job was pretty much making sure that all the elements and chemicals were balanced correctly to prevent the rig from blowing up. He had a few close calls out there and would explain it the best he could bc there are a lot of tedious details that sound like a different language. Especially to a teen. lol
    God bless him for all he did to make me feel better while he was gone. I missed him terribly every time he’d go out bc we were particularly close. He passed away a few years back and I’m still very lost without him. I lost my best friend. But hopefully gained a guardian angel warrior lo. Saw the helicopter crash part and it reminded me of him. I pray for all the victims and their families. Including the pilots. Lord knows they carry a very heavy responsibility and I’m sure they don’t want to be killed up there as well. This has absolutely nothing to do with this video but I felt like telling the world!! Peace yall! ✌🏽
