      I can recommend Lella. It is especially good in terms of Reading and Listening. There are many interesting texts that you can read (artificial intelligence, batman, van gogh, etc.), you can also test what you have learned with quizzes, you can increase your vocabulary with flash cards, I definitely recommend it.

When I saw that Fluyo could replace Anki and in a fun way I was very excited. It has everything to be the best app and I would definitely spend my money on it.

    My biggest problem with the duolingo change isn't the fact that they made it so there's no multiple paths, or that the lessons are less comprehensive, but the fact that they just remove random features like the word list. I like adding all the words I know into programs such as anki which helps for further practice. I literally only use duolingo now to keep my mind focused and motivated on keeping at the language rather than actually learning much from duolingo.

    One really fun app I use for building vocabulary is Drops, I really feel like it isn't talked about enough. I like that it uses pictures instead of your native language (English in my case), so you're associating the word in your target language with what it mean rather than translating it.

      For some reason I got the path on web, but not on the app. As I like using the app, I haven't tried the path so far. Might try web on mobile. But web on laptop is pain, someone forgot to add all French letters to the supposedly French AZERTY layout, so now you need a number block to type œ (Alt+0156), or use the mouse with the buttons Duolingo provides.

      Try reinstalling it, as for the the french letters, are you able to change it to French keyboard in windows? You might have to get an overlay online to know which letters correspond but it should work

    Only having tried Duolingo, I'd say it's good for learning words but grammar wise it is sorta weak and makes me want to get harder into more basic grammar rather then feeling like a word run. How ever I feel like it's a good start for someone who is not sure about getting into learning languages and is much less intimidating then other apps.
    I feel like Duolingo is best when working with either a private teacher or native speaker that can help you with the speaking / grammar part of the language because it for sure gives you enough vocab and basic grammar to start understanding and speaking even though it's likely not the best but it's not bad for sure.

    If i already started learning spanish with duolingo and i am at chapter 3 of 10 then will i have to start from 0 again on fluyo or will there be like a test to find my level.
    Actually i will probably be close to finishing spanish by the time fluyo comes out

    And a couple of my own special mentions.
    Mango Languages - I love how it's structured and it has a huge selection. I found their content to be of good quality, my only complain is that not all languages are a complete course.
    iTalki - I expect this gets mentioned in a lot of these kinds of lists. But I love the fact it makes tutored learning affordable and connects people all over the world. My target languages don't appear in many apps and for one of my target languages (Mongolian) it's hard to find an app or software or course that I like.
    Also, Fluyo look interesting, I'm just sad it doesn't look like it'll support anything I am interested in learning. Though what would be cool for an app is to create my own study material to work from & share. I know Memrise does this, but theirs is pretty much just flashcards. Because I think it will be pretty valuable for people studying languages you don't tend to see. For example, when I am at a certain point with my Mongolian I intend to pick up Tuvan again, Mango has a great starter course for it, but the learning resources for it in English are pretty scarce and whilst Transparent Languages supports it...I didn't like using it. So I've been gathering other material to learn the language that'd I'd like to put together as my own study material. If there are good apps/sites for that purpose too, I'm game to try them out as it'd help make the process more convenient.

      Mango Languages is one of my favs as well. I feel it gets a bit overlooked in the language learning community. It is a bit more time consuming where I need to actually plan out when I can use it and focus on it. Can’t really do it while listening to something else or waiting at the dentist office like Duolingo. Happy learning !

    • @sae2705
      @sae2705 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tomtocz7284 I think Duolingo has its purposes, but I struggled to retain knowledge doing it, I soon realised trying for the leaderboard wasn't a sign of me doing well, but actually hindered my learning. But it's great for motivation, I found it easier to stick to than a lot of alternatives, maybe I could have done better if I used it differently.
      I like Mango for its quality and yeah, I don't often see it get a mention. If I was starting out with my Vietnamese, I'd be using it but I've been using a tutor through iTalki for a year now. It seems like they put special care into Mango with each of their languages and I appreciate that they made an effort to encourage people to try out endangered languages and start learning them in an effort to help with preservation. Which is how I ended up trying it out because Tuvan was one of those languages.

    I think lingq is still the best app after a certain level of competency. it acts as a hub for advanced audio and written materials in a way, but I find I only get a lot out of it in the language I'm B2 in. It doesn't work very well for A1 or A2

    I’ve downloaded all of them in the past. Believe it or not, Babbel has always been my favorite one. I don’t know why it always gets a bad rap. I don’t care if it’s not as “fun” as most of the others. It teaches grammar the best in my opinion

      Would you recommend babbel over Busuu? I’m using pimsleur, duolingo, and language transfer. Languange transfer has helped me grow exponentially with their lessons.
      Pimsleur I do not like, it’s too formal for me. Good app for people who have international business trips.
      Duolingo is for kids or adults with short attention spans, no offense. I don’t need a gamified app to stay motivated. Although I’ll give duolingo it’s props. It’s a very good free app to get familiar with a beginner languange. It has helped me tremendously in my beginning stages.

    • @gabieth
      @gabieth 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with ya! Babbel is by far the one that actually teaches in a serious way but not so boring way to actually learn how to speak and use of grammar. I study french only there and I only use complements as music or watching stuff in french, but just for fun and not as a complementary learning resource and so far so good

    I've been learning Russian past 14 months, the vocabulary is the hardest part and I couldn't find any good app which can help nor be fun (except duolingo for being more repetitive), I have just been waiting for Fulyo release since you said the most important part of language learning is Vocabulary and with the vision you have. I just hope there is an option to remove words that are similar to the languages you know from before so you would never see those ever again in your lessons. it was the most on nerve part in my opinion that would make the app unfun and frustrating, I can't wait to get my hands on Fulyo, cheers man!

      If you are looking for a fun quick app to help with vocabulary you might want to try Drops if you haven’t tried it before.

    • @jen3566
      @jen3566 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’m here to second the Drops recommendation (they’ll have a nice Black Friday Sale soon at the time of this posting) I’ve been using it for about seven languages, but focusing on Spanish, Russian, and Norwegian recently. There’s a very similar quality to every language I’ve tried so it’s not one of those apps that gives French/Spanish/German all of the love and then has a pittance of the rest for the sake of “wow look at all the courses we have.” Drops is pretty good for Russian!

    • @jen3566
      @jen3566 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also! There’s a “hide” option in Drops for words, so you can remove them from your reviews and future lessons after the first lesson you encounter them in the app.

    • @gr4y937
      @gr4y937 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jen3566 thanks for the response, yup I have checked drops, it definitely has so much potential to it, but since it's not free I guess I will just finish duolingo and then go on with drops, thanks for caring and sharing!

    • @jen3566
      @jen3566 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gr4y937 yes no problem! I know, the one lesson a day limit for the free version (if that’s still available) is a bummer. I got the Black Friday Lifetime premium deal last year, haven’t regretted it yet. I think the 55% off sale this year is decent for anyone who can swing it, but things have been crazy. Definitely keep an eye out for their deals down the road. Good luck with your studies!!
