Chinese Congee Turkey (Porridge)

  • This delicious and simple turkey congee is the result of some left over turkey (from Christmas, but Thanksgiving or any other excuse to cook up a turkey works!). You can mix it around with various base ingredients such as dried scallops, peanuts, dried tofu skin, and the garnishes for congee are endless! This is a Guangdong-styled (South China) congee, which means it's simple congee, blended and mixed pretty often so that it's the same consistency throughout. Don't forget to mix up the base so that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot!
    Congees are great for the whole family and the Chinese consume this throughout the year in various formats, consistencies, thickness, and ingredients depending on the region you're from in China. I am a huge fan of congee. Very nostalgic and homecoming for me!
