Fascinating to watch the layering of paint colors, all the brushes used and the palette knife (and maybe the tip of a finger near the end?). I'm impressed by the precision and fabulous results you can achieve.
awesome video, Mark..THANK YOU!!......but the music is too intrusive!!!!.....in your last video you talked about saving the transparency of the colors and yet in this video you cover up any transparency you might have had...ie..the boulders...!!.pleazzz explain!!!..carol g. ..
He was speaking to the under painting. You want to establish the form, value, light and contrast early in your painting. Some of that early work will come through in the final. It helps give you a sense of detail and realism without over rendering your painting.
Loved this. Kinda from the SCHMID school… I love the non fussy look…it has energy and life in it…real but not photographic… which to me almost always looks dead. Well done.

Ahhhh. How do you guys lay down so much paint onto the surface and it doesn’t get mixed or muddier ... and when i paint I’m not 5 minutes into the painting and it’s all mud 🥺😭😭😭
Absolutely amazing! i love how you got the speed in the water, such a cool effect, like a photo but with a really interesting filter over it. Great stuff!

Very educational to see your process, and that once you've blocked in the major shapes, you work back and forth from light to dark as you add detail.
