Likewise! I've been into Link's work for decades, but only really knew about his 1950's work due to my being used to the get 1950's guys trying to contrive more "modern" sounds that don't at all flow from the roots that made them. But Link totally pulled it off. So, yeh, am shocked I've never heard this one before too.
Mein Lieblingsalbum. Gehört auf jede Insel. Habe ich mal in den 70igern Jahren als Cut-Out-Album für 3 Mark gekauft, weil ich die Albumhülle so gefallen. Was ich dann gehört habe: Einfach himmlisch.
Yeh, Barry brought me here too! Good GOSH! I've only ever been used to Link's rather JUICEY rockabilly style r&b from the 1950's. And surprisingly, this is the first time I'm hearing any of his work that's later tha n that and am LOVING IT! Absolutely top notch country gospel blues style that usually you'd ONLY expect Rolling Stones to play as good as. I must grab the album ASAP.
Agreed! He played bass on most if not all tracks including this one. I’m pretty sure he’s using a pick and flat strings. The whole album was recorded in a converted chicken shack. Classic late 60’s/early 70’s roots music.
There's gonna be a revival tonight, everybody's gonna jump and shout, and throw the good down. All you sisters and you brother, bring all the others out into the light. This is your land, my land, everybody gotta be free. There'll be no more suicides. Love is all we need to make this world succeed. Let's all give it a try. Can't you see we're all the same. Isn't it a damn shame not to see it now? All I cry is in vain when we cause others pain. And we forget what is right. Singin' la de da.
I knew Link and Doug, I was there when this was recorded...I was 5 yrs old but I remember every second of it...weird bit true...by the way that bass player was Shorty Horton.
Not ashamed to say Barry brought me here. After discovering Link I finally found out it was his song “Rumble” that I heard in a number of shows and movies
Wow. I didn't know such a place existed. I gotta dial that up. I only know of Link, Redbone and Jessie Ed Davis, Jr. . I hope to hell they're all in there.
'Fire & Brimstone' received some airplay in DC when this came out. I remember WHFS, WEAM & WHMC playing this. But, radio-corp decides who & what you hear
The Outro Version of Barry S02E01 sounds quite different. It seems they added some audio effects which gave the song a special weird touch. Would really like to know how they made it.
You got it in one! Absolutely spot on mate. He's Jimmy Page's all time hero too. Johnny Burnette's rockabilly blues guitar still isn't getting it's due credit either.
Although, in truth it's completely the other way round. Even Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin proudly boasts Link's original hit single "Rumble" as his all time fave on all levels. Check here on TH-cam of a video of Jimmy enjoying it on his old school turntable. It's like a kid with his best Xmas and birthday present rolled into one. Turned out Rumble was written live onstage when Link was invited to do anything he wanted. As mean moody, and warm and thick as Howling Wolf with that rockabilly edge as one man can get! Check out his version of Ain't That Lovin You Baby (Columbia Records I think?) OOOOOFT! r&B at it's best before the stones got any good.
Nobody considers this album. Ever. It's fucking magic. Front to back. Link was the origination of dirty guitar. Jim Page wouldn't be Jimmy Page without hearing "The Rumble " .
@Joshua Dowling very true. have u listened to pet sounds recently? macca's basslines became more melodic after pet sounds. macca says god only knows is the best song ever made
Possibly. Tarrantino is DEFINITELY a fan, and you can hear, for example much influence of Link Wray (plus The Cramps, also Link fans) in his work, especially Dusk Till Dawn, with a touch of Roky Ericson/13th Floor Elevators and other garage-punky Texas rockabilly. Can't remember where Link was from though
Today February 13 2021 I've been seriously preparing for the coming of the Lord since the lockdown back in March 2020. I dont want to be left behind when the biggest event in all history occurs! Because He is coming soon! So I googled fire and brimstone and found Link Wray! Wow Oh Wow! Very awesome! My passion is music. All kinds of music! Jesus is coming soon. Are you ready?
There's going to be a revival tonight . Every boy gonna jump and shout and throw the gun down. All ya sisters and your brother, bring all the others, out into the line. This is your land, my land , everybody gotta be free, there'll be no more suicide. Love is all we need, to make this world succeed . Let's all give it a try. Can't you see, we're all the same. Isn't it a damn shame, not to see it now. All I cry, is in vain, when we cause others pain, and we forget what is right. Singing La De Da C'mon now everybody, everybody singing La De Da. C'mon sing. C'mon sing it brother, c'mon sing it sister, c'mon everybody. Everybody gotta be free.
Man, the 70s are the lost ages. For every song we have like this, there are a dozen more lost.
roots sound, my kinda bassline. an artist who is criminally overlooked
the greatest opening track ever to one of the greatest albums ever. Link Wray was and forever will be one of the Fathers of Rock n Roll.
Yeh, Jimmy Page of Zep and myself share the same all-time favourite 7" single Rumble. Absolutely classic way a rock n roll/R&B guitar should sound.
How have I never heard this song before? Thank you Barry!
No shit!
What a song!?

Absolutely underrated artist and album.
Who?
Such an amazing track. This should be up there with the "classics". It is in an elite group of perfect songs/recordings.
For sure!
underrated to who???
Yeh, Barry brought me here too!
Good GOSH!

I must grab the album ASAP.
What a great, bouncy, vibey, loving bassline.
reminds me a lot of the playing and tone on a song called I Have Been To The Mountain by Kevin Morby
Agreed! He played bass on most if not all tracks including this one. I’m pretty sure he’s using a pick and flat strings. The whole album was recorded in a converted chicken shack. Classic late 60’s/early 70’s roots music.
criminally underrated
Never thought to listen to Link Wray outside of "Rumble", but thanks to the show "Barry" I will now. Awesome stuff!
My god this is a great song. I just keep listening to it over and over and over!
Dear Link Wray, I am 40 years old why am I just now discovering you. I think you are amazing.
There's gonna be a revival tonight,
everybody's gonna jump and shout,
and throw the good down.
All you sisters and you brother,
bring all the others out into the light.
This is your land, my land,
everybody gotta be free.

Singin' la de da.
Throw the GLORY down
@@lauriekruczek Others said "throw their gun down"
Very appropriate for these here times.
I knew Link and Doug, I was there when this was recorded...I was 5 yrs old but I remember every second of it...weird bit true...by the way that bass player was Shorty Horton.
"Barry" brought me here
Barry takes us to great places.
Who's this Barry everyone speaks of? My mama brought me here ;)
Jesse Lynn, it’s a tv show starring Bill Hader. Check it out on IMDB.
I was the guy who immediately said “holy shit they’re jamming link Wray” at the end of that episode.
Theres lots of cool music in that show.
>>Merry new year->
I'm on a Link rabbit hole journey. His content is gonna come back stronger than ever.
Love this. Thank you for expanding my horizon, Barry.
Go on Bazza
Not ashamed to say Barry brought me here. After discovering Link I finally found out it was his song “Rumble” that I heard in a number of shows and movies

He’s in the native music hall of fame! ❤️
Wow. I didn't know such a place existed. I gotta dial that up. I only know of Link, Redbone and Jessie Ed Davis, Jr. . I hope to hell they're all in there.

End credits on season 2 episode 1 of Barry. Great track...hell yeah!
I nearly shat myself when I heard that! Great show, great, unappreciated song/album
OOPS! Thank you New Yorker Culture Desk!!!!
Damn this is a good song.
Link Wray brought me here.
Haha! For sure and amen to that!! Link was King Shit!!
Great driving music
The Outro Version of Barry S02E01 sounds quite different. It seems they added some audio effects which gave the song a special weird touch. Would really like to know how they made it.
Rumble was considered riot music and banned. Link is Shawnee. So FUCKIN badass. It’d be nice if The Rolling Stones thanked him for their sound. 🤷🏻♀️
Too bad they didn’t.....🙃
You got it in one!
Absolutely spot on mate.
He's Jimmy Page's all time hero too.
Johnny Burnette's rockabilly blues guitar still isn't getting it's due credit either.
Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up
Sweet sweet ear candy 🥰🎶🎶👏🏻
you're lookin' like real sweet eye candy from over on here...
He sounds like a mix of Mick Jagger and Van Morrison.

Yeah, I get that, spot on..
Anyone whose "" brought them here: ask yourself: why weren't you here before? La de da.
Man, put him on Alexa for 4 hours yesterday, wonderful. He often sounds a lot like Mick Jagger
Or shall you say Mick Jagger sounds like LInk Wray ?
Damn!
3:15 When you hit your pinky toe on the corner of your desk..
Link Wray? ,Well why not? It makes sense the greatest R&R guitarist in the world was an American Indian .😎👌✌.
Dude was too cool,
What is with Barry and having amazing songs for the credits
Nobody considers this album. Ever. It's fucking magic. Front to back. Link was the origination of dirty guitar. Jim Page wouldn't be Jimmy Page without hearing "The Rumble " .
Me too Barry. It's a good sound
Good times
bassline is too funky
@Joshua Dowling very true. have u listened to pet sounds recently? macca's basslines became more melodic after pet sounds. macca says god only knows is the best song ever made
I wish Link had played this back when you could see Link Wray live.
This song has such a great pheeel to it. Was it ever in a Tarantino movie ?
No, rumble is in pulp fiction by link wray. When Travolta is in jack rabbit slims with uma
Yo momma was
Possibly.

We couldn't be so lucky.
1971/2021
stones b4 the RS? stole everything??
Thought the same thing!
Here from Barry.
Barry S02E01
Almost sounds a little bit like The Band’s Richard Manuel.
Other way round, but yeh
There's going to be a revival tonight
.
Every boy gonna jump and shout and throw the gun down.
All ya sisters and your brother,
bring all the others,
out into the line.

I feel like a guy called jake could skate to this well for a part
Barry(Season 2, Episode 1, credits).
here after seeing Rumble on Netflix
BARRY
THERE'S GONNA BE A REVIVAL TONIGHT
The spirit of this song is amazing
Unless u want to get Screwed Royally....
Fuck division! People are all the same which is a controversial thought in 2019.
amazing tune! 🤠🤙
