I'm lvl 8 and I'm 15 so I can't drive anywhere like my brother who is 18 and he's lvl 17 with much better Pokemon. It's kinds frustrating Bcs he goes out with his friends almost every night and they all play the game and I'm confined to my neighborhood that has 1 poke stop and is only inhabited by weedles and pidgeys.

To be honest that lackluster combat system has probably helped this app, since a turn-based RPG, even one as simple as Pokemon could've turned off a lot of casual people.
It's actually really fun in harder battles. Turn based wasn't meant for this game. Maybe it's just me but I'd prefer to have a different Pokémon game that doesn't involve EVs, IVs, and stats other than Attack and Defense. It's a fun way to play that's very simple and addicting.
Only in the short term. People WILL get bored of the garbage combat system, and then the developers will realize that the players that WOULD have stuck around for Pokemon's actual combat system have already left.
I'm loving it so far. I just hope they keep adding stuff, mainly trading, friend's list, battling players, changing the battle system and more pokemon. My only major gripe (aside from the servers and the rural/suburban areas not having alot of pokestops/pokemon) is that I really wish that the candy wasn't species specific. I think it should be type based

i live in a town full of "historic" places and churches and we have a spot where there are 5 pokestops and a gym in a very small area. i've decided that the lures don't bring in pokemon, they bring in nerds. when 4 people put lures in the 4 tightly packed pokestops in town, the area gets overrun by nerds lol

I live in an area next to a park with 10 pokestops and there is always lure module at the fountain and 20 ppl are always there then we communicate like "should I use a lucky egg"
The one thing I found really frustrating about Pokemon Go is that Suburban areas don't have a lot of pokemon or pokestops. Correct me if I'm wrong but in the show and games don't you have to go in the "tall grass" or forest area to catch a pokemon, NOT on a busy street or populated city area. I think this game could of done a much better job by highlighting really cool interesting underpopulated areas like beautiful parks across the USA and all around the world. Make famous landmarks have certain kind of famous "rare" pokemon or just make park info centers gyms. I love the fact that people are going outside and working those muscles :D. I just feel that kind of missed there mark.

I was simply saying that those who hate on pokemon go end up looking like hypocrites because the only two excuses I've heard are that it's dangerous (so is water, so let's ban that too) and that people are being a bunch of sheep ( but so is doing anything that is mainstream) so, you see, hypocrites.
The reason I hate the game is because they turned the battle format of Pokemon into an abhorrent version of fruit ninja. Also it's constant bugs and glitches make the game unplayable half the time. Furthermore aspects of the game that should have been a no brainer to implement are not in there such as battling with friends and trading Pokemon. Final critique would be that the process in which one evolves a Pokemon is retarded. Instead of batting to get a Pokemon stronger you have to catch an army of that same Pokemon.
Things PoGo needs - 1. Badge collection - CPU controlled gyms of increasing difficulty spread around your city. They'd be exactly the same as the gyms in the old gameboy pokemon games, once you defeat the gym leader you get a badge (and maybe a rare item or something). Perhaps you'd have to be a certain level to be able to battle each gym; i.e. every 10 levels you qualify to battle a new gym and need to travel to the gym's location in order to attempt to battle it, you'd also need to make sure your pokemon are the right type and are strong enough. 2. PVP - if you could see fellow trainers on your map within 100 meters of you and have the ability to tap their avatar and request a battle --> if you win you get XP + pokeballs and other shit and if you lose you don't get anything (you'd lose items spent on reviving/healing your pokemon) 3. MORE POKESTOPS IN NON-CITY AREAS 4. More variety with the battling system --> each pokemon should have 4 different abilities to use in battle similar to the gamebody pokemon games, although I'd like them to incorporate that without having to make it a turn-based system. 5. I really hope that it doesn't eventually become a NECESSITY for players to spend money in order to be able to keep playing. As boogie said, keep micro transactions as AN option rather than THE ONLY option if you want to continue playing once you've reached a high level.

I'm in a small town of like 20,000 people and we have a bunch of stuff. We have gyms, lures, stops everywhere in the town. You can't go 5 minutes without seeing one. I have a Lapras in my backyard and I invited everyone to come and in one day around 200 people showed up. I saw kids playing it, middle school kids, my highschool classmates that have never even played Pokemon before but they're band wagoners, to adults, and even some old people. It was really cool and we went to the city park which is massive and we all set up lures and even the police were playing. We even have people from other cities coming cause they're small and in rural areas like you said. I really like this game cause it brings everyone together. People who usually aren't together are friends

I cannot understand all the love for the game. It's a joke. A huge cashgrab with the pokemon branding on it. I even refuse to call it a "game". Pokemon is not about tapping your screen like a moron or simply flinging balls around. Zero strategy, zero training your pokemon. And what does it take to evolve or even level them up? Right: catching more of them and waste more and more pokeballs. Dear Boogie, WHEN your wife would have played any other Pokemon game before, she wouldn't be so addicted now. That's exactly why it's popular. Anyone can pick it up and play it. It captures the nostalgia from those who have played Pokemon before and introduces new people to an already popular brand. It gets people off the couch and out into the world. Granted it's not perfect and they're still glued to their screens, it's still getting people moving. You're right it's not like the original turn based Pokemon but it's still something different and it's simplicity and ease of use is what appeals to the mass audience.

And the more people realise that they need ~100 pokeballs just to evolve ONE Magicarp, the more will realize, how "free" the game truly is. And it is AD free? Good - instead you (the player in general) provide them with a fully detailed map of your movements and preferred places, shops and so on. No bad deal. I don't want to rage against the players, don't get me wrong. If you want to play it - have fun, that is the purpose of it. It is just the game itself I want to criticize.

When I stand in my garden i can reach a gym. and there are 3 close pokestops around my house and if i walk a little further there are like 5 more pokestops.. pretty nice
I can't figure out the point of going after gyms, other than the initial XP of fighting them and the weak gold reward you get if you happen to have one or two. They need to give a XP bonus or something to that team in the area.
Yeah the problems I have with Pokémon GO are the battle system (basically a cookie clicker within the game) and also I think the catching needs some changes. I think they should bring back the regular pokemon battle system from the older games and make it so you had to fight the pokemon to make them weak enough for you to capture.
Level up a bit, walk around more, you should start to see better things, visit lots of pokestops to get eggs too and catch all those pidgeys to evolve them it gives a lot of xp
My look is, dare I say it, awful. I purposely walked 10km to hatch an egg, it got to 9.9km and disappeared. Got nothing in return, no Pokeman, no candies. Im just aiming to get a Jolteon, Vaporeon or Faloreon at this point from an Eevee.

You should check out the map in Nyköping, Sweden. I have on a 5 min strait walk from my home 5 stops and 2 gyms Even to a few good stops 5-10 min walk away from me where I can farm 2 stops at the same time without even moving plus a gym in the same aria. :D
Razorhawk90 Well if you live in the country side north of Stockholm you might as well be in Alaska :D. Nyköping is one of the oldest cities in Sweden. We have castles and churches dating back to 1100 AD and the town is littered with historical monuments. Very good for pokemonstops :D
I have seen signs that ask people to stay outside of the graveyard even if there happens to be a pikomen there. I've seen people just disregard their friends because they had to go an capture those damned pikomens... I like the concept of the game and I like that people now actively go outside to do something, but this shit is going too far if you ask me. if a freaking graveyard has to have a sign on there to ask the people not to trespass and have respect for the dead, there is something seriously wrong. Where friends of mine would normally just hang around in the center of town to get a drink or something like that, they instead just go home because they can't stand being left aside for fucking pikomans. I beg you kindly, think about others before thinking about catching pikomans. Catch pikomans in your spare time when you don't have people waiting on you to go to a restaurant or anything like that.

So If I had a 1,000 bucks to spend I could pay the developers to place Pokemon in front of my store front and by god I'd have thousands of people rushing to my store to catch Pokemon and may it be a food shack or comic book store, well, I just got a bunch of people to come into my shop without advertising anything I sold. Fools I tell ya. Don't forget about terroist groups either, they will know when a mass gathering is held to catch Poke's, sounds pretty safe to me. Not to mention all the trackers you agree to when playing that game. Nintendo literally knows exactly where you are and can turn your microphone and camera on anytime of day if they wanted to. They can search through your pictures and your friends pictures as well. CertifiedSavage It's not just Nintendo that can access where you are at and what pictures you take, It goes through your service first, that is where the government is able to track you by request. If you read through Pokeon Go's terms, it basicallt states that all your data and such can be charged through your carrier, so you basically allow your carrier to know at all times where you are and what you are doing and allowing that carrier to confiscate your pictures as well. They are not your pictures, they are the carriers pictures. The carrier then can use those however they want and you can be infringed by using them without their consent, because without their service you wouldn't be able to take those pictures.
Brendan Smith A reward? Catching pokemon is the reward, though meaningless, it is still a Pavlovian reward given to people to keep on playing. Dangle the treat in your face and you will chase it. That is all they are doing. Re route you to an area and they control your movements. What if the developers wanted to do an experiment to see how far the Pokemon users would go? What if they said one unobtainable Pokemon could be caught tonight by only one person in this such area and led thousands of people into a protest area or highly trafficked area in order to see what happened? It's not out of the realm of possibility. It's a test to see how vulnerable and sheepish people really are, and it is quite disgusting. What if they place a Mewtoo or something in the middle of Congress during a meeting and thousands of people broke down the doors to catch it? Maybe on a highway? Just to test people. Is that not possible?
Jack Poontaint That's a bit of a stretch. I think they would have done that already in Ingress if that's their goal. People do pay attention to their surroundings as well, so the highway shit wouldn't happen. You're thinking way too far into this, it's just a game. Also they can't turn on your microphone or camera if they don't have the permission, at least on android you can deny camera access. It doesn't even access your mic, nor does it access your pictures.
in school I had a best friend, we were best friends for about 8 years. after school we slowly stopped talking but when I was on pokemon go, I saw his name on the lure module. so now we are talking again and playing pokemon go. I think it is great because it gets people outside, people socialise and meet new friends.

I live in a suburban Village, where (This is probably why its different) Is a old town dating back 200 years so lots of land marks and luckily for me theirs a lake where 2 stops are and people lure the hell outta there. And I traveling to neighboring places that were more older and more population. Also I wish that they took effect of the weather like the game. And this is to all urban players, do steel types spawn there more often? I am by a lake so I get lots of waters and by a marsh where I get lots of grasses.
If rain is in the forecast for your area, water type pokemon will show up as if they were rattatas or pidgeys, it's pretty cool. Also, yes electric and steel type show up in downtown area's much more frequently
I'm loving this game right now, but I can definitely see the hype dying down in a month or so. They need to introduce trading, battling with friends, and some kind of friends list feature ASAP. Those will be some key features to keep long time players.
We've Been waiting a Decade and half for this game, I'm gonna Catch 'em all. Even after the hype wears off, Even after everyone moves on to the next distraction and only the hardcore players are left, i'll still be hunting for Mewtwo. I might even learn the names of the Pokemon after gen 1.
Like your wife, I had no interest in Pokemon, never watched a cartoon, never read a comic, never played a game.. nothing! I then watched an advert for it and thought it looked fun so, downloaded and gave it a try :) I am addicted to it 101% absolutely love it and so does my wife who again, couldn't even tell you what Pikachu's name was until the game was released. One of the main things I love about it is, I am seeing places in and around the area I live that I have never seen before :) Strange things also, like a House that is built upside down. Walked past it about 100 times per month and never notice it until it became a Pokestop. Can't wait to capture all the little Pokes.. Gotta Catch 'em All!
The best thing about the game imo is that it makes take my regular walks that I would normally skip more than often. The gameplay itself isn't that great, but it makes the walks more motivating when I know that I can level up by walking, hatch eggs by walking, find cool pokemons and have the game take me to places I normally wouldn't explore otherwise - places that now feel extra special because there are different pokemons in different areas. Been walking over an hour per day thanks to this game now - it's great, I feel healthier just for playing the game.
My main qualm with Pokemon Go is the play value changes based on population density. I live in the middle of nowhere - within 7km of walking I found 1 ratata, 1 pidgey, and 1 paras. The nearest pokestops and gyms to me are either 15km in the nearest town, or if there's none there in that tiny town, the city that's a half an hour drive away. I went to visit my boyfriend who lives in a bigger city an hour away, and within his block there's at least 6 pokestops, 1 gym, and in a couple walks around the block I caught 30 pokemon or so and found a bunch of eggs. I even caught some by just sitting in his house! The eggs are at least nice, because when I'm stuck at home, I can at least walk for a while and hatch something new.
In its current state, I would describe the game as "kinda bad." But I can't help but be addicted to it anyway, and I'm having a blast exploring and hunting with my friends. My biggest gripe is that there's not enough reward for catching/transferring stronger or more evolved Pokemon. If I have a CP 250 Pidgey, and I encounter a CP 150 Pidgeotto, then I have little incentive to catch it. I'm never going to use it or evolve it, I'd be better off stockpiling candies for the stronger Pidgey, and I'm likely to burn several pokeballs trying to catch it when its value to me is equivalent to that of a CP 10 Pidgey.
I'm honestly not a fan of how the gyms work. If you end up stumbling upon a gym by yourself and take it over, it's almost guaranteed to be retaken very shortly since you have no one to fortify it with you. Most of the gyms I've seen have from 1-3 pokemon in them and that's a cakewalk when you get six to fight with
Tips: 1. If you miss a pokeball, press it on the ground and you get it back. 2. If you can't walk because rain ro disablities, and need an egg hatched, drive around in a car park.
love your videos boogie, and i don't want this to be taken in any way negative. i'm an overweight guy, and when this game came out i kinda looked at it as a pain in the ass to have to walk around town and do stuff, i pretty much drove around and parked where i could to get the pokestops. After realizing just walking literaly around my house in my own yard would hatch my eggs i started walking down my road about a quarter mile to the stream by my house, hung out for a little bit and saw what pokes would show up. then every day i started going farther and farther, now i walk about a mile and a half a day, just for this game. Not saying it's for everyeone, but us overweight guys definetly need every bit of help we can get, maybe we can start using this game to get into the shape we want to?
I live in a town of like 1750 people. I have this 15-20 min walking circle that goes passed 2 gyms and 11 poke stops. I try to walk for an hour a night and normally end up throwing out 150-200 items in balls, potions, and revs a day.
Pretty much my entire experience with this game: -Open Pokemon GO -Nearby: one Bellsprout. 3 pawprints. Nothing else at all. -Several Poke Centers and stuff... at the very edge of my map radius, nothing else any closer. -Exit game, forget it for a while. -Repeat again later. I get that this game is supposed to get me to go outside, but there's nothing to go outside for. There's nothing to open the game for at all! I have two Pokemon and it's probably going to stay that way for weeks.
I'm not a fan of walk about games. When I go outside, I go outside. When I play games, I sit down and play games. I don't like to mix the two. That's just me. I'm glad people like and can enjoy the game. And I'm glad it really helped people go outside.
You can buy stardust though... Its called lucky eggs. No different to buying stardust. You are "paying" to level up and you are "buying" xp. Pure and simple. Its buying stardust. Its a game breaker for me. Sucks that rich kids are cutting about level 25 and the poor kids can't compete. Very poor show Nintendo.
Just FYI, Malls tend to be excellent places because it appears to me that streets themselves are vains for spawning (most likely trying to cator to kids walking neighborhoods) and google maps seems to confuse large parking lots like malls for a mesh of streets very close together and in turn tends to be excellent to find pokemon in clusters. So, IMOP, a trip to the mall where you can use your chair could be an excellent option.
pokemon go is awesome. i downloaded it as soon as my friend told me it had finally been released here in UK. Iv been looking forward to its release since i first heard about it. the server issues are sooo annoying especially when i cant get into the game. i am constantly checking the app on my phone whether at home or when out the house to see if there is something/anything i can catch. i sure hope they can keep the game interesting and i agree they better not make us have to buy candies otherwise they will loose the fans. I was out in town just yesterday and i talked to others who play the game so the social aspect is awesome. Cant wait for being able to swap with people and hope we do eventually get pokemon from more regions although i am happy to wait a handful of months for that as it may take time to collect them all from gen 1, I also hope they don't wait too long to add the legendarias. keep up the good work boogie.
Here is a pro tip: Level up your pokemon at a low evolution, then evolve it at the end. This is cheaper rather than leveling up an already evolved pokemon.

To be honest that lackluster combat system has probably helped this app, since a turn-based RPG, even one as simple as Pokemon could've turned off a lot of casual people.
Thats why I wasn't intersted in pokemon when I was younger, but hopefully it will bring more people to the mainstream games

It's actually really fun in harder battles. Turn based wasn't meant for this game. Maybe it's just me but I'd prefer to have a different Pokémon game that doesn't involve EVs, IVs, and stats other than Attack and Defense. It's a fun way to play that's very simple and addicting.
Only in the short term. People WILL get bored of the garbage combat system, and then the developers will realize that the players that WOULD have stuck around for Pokemon's actual combat system have already left.
I think the combat is laughable but I can see how turnbased would not appeal to those not familiar.

i live in a town full of "historic" places and churches and we have a spot where there are 5 pokestops and a gym in a very small area. i've decided that the lures don't bring in pokemon, they bring in nerds. when 4 people put lures in the 4 tightly packed pokestops in town, the area gets overrun by nerds lol

The one thing I found really frustrating about Pokemon Go is that Suburban areas don't have a lot of pokemon or pokestops. Correct me if I'm wrong but in the show and games don't you have to go in the "tall grass" or forest area to catch a pokemon, NOT on a busy street or populated city area. I think this game could of done a much better job by highlighting really cool interesting underpopulated areas like beautiful parks across the USA and all around the world. Make famous landmarks have certain kind of famous "rare" pokemon or just make park info centers gyms. I love the fact that people are going outside and working those muscles :D. I just feel that kind of missed there mark.

I was simply saying that those who hate on pokemon go end up looking like hypocrites because the only two excuses I've heard are that it's dangerous (so is water, so let's ban that too) and that people are being a bunch of sheep ( but so is doing anything that is mainstream) so, you see, hypocrites.
The reason I hate the game is because they turned the battle format of Pokemon into an abhorrent version of fruit ninja. Also it's constant bugs and glitches make the game unplayable half the time. Furthermore aspects of the game that should have been a no brainer to implement are not in there such as battling with friends and trading Pokemon. Final critique would be that the process in which one evolves a Pokemon is retarded. Instead of batting to get a Pokemon stronger you have to catch an army of that same Pokemon.

Things PoGo needs -
1. Badge collection - CPU controlled gyms of increasing difficulty spread around your city. They'd be exactly the same as the gyms in the old gameboy pokemon games, once you defeat the gym leader you get a badge (and maybe a rare item or something). Perhaps you'd have to be a certain level to be able to battle each gym; i.e. every 10 levels you qualify to battle a new gym and need to travel to the gym's location in order to attempt to battle it, you'd also need to make sure your pokemon are the right type and are strong enough.
2. PVP - if you could see fellow trainers on your map within 100 meters of you and have the ability to tap their avatar and request a battle --> if you win you get XP + pokeballs and other shit and if you lose you don't get anything (you'd lose items spent on reviving/healing your pokemon)
3. MORE POKESTOPS IN NON-CITY AREAS
4. More variety with the battling system --> each pokemon should have 4 different abilities to use in battle similar to the gamebody pokemon games, although I'd like them to incorporate that without having to make it a turn-based system.
5. I really hope that it doesn't eventually become a NECESSITY for players to spend money in order to be able to keep playing. As boogie said, keep micro transactions as AN option rather than THE ONLY option if you want to continue playing once you've reached a high level.

I'm in a small town of like 20,000 people and we have a bunch of stuff. We have gyms, lures, stops everywhere in the town. You can't go 5 minutes without seeing one. I have a Lapras in my backyard and I invited everyone to come and in one day around 200 people showed up. I saw kids playing it, middle school kids, my highschool classmates that have never even played Pokemon before but they're band wagoners, to adults, and even some old people. It was really cool and we went to the city park which is massive and we all set up lures and even the police were playing. We even have people from other cities coming cause they're small and in rural areas like you said. I really like this game cause it brings everyone together. People who usually aren't together are friends

You're right it's not like the original turn based Pokemon but it's still something different and it's simplicity and ease of use is what appeals to the mass audience.

And the more people realise that they need ~100 pokeballs just to evolve ONE Magicarp, the more will realize, how "free" the game truly is. And it is AD free? I don't want to rage against the players, don't get me wrong. If you want to play it - have fun, that is the purpose of it. It is just the game itself I want to criticize.

I can't figure out the point of going after gyms, other than the initial XP of fighting them and the weak gold reward you get if you happen to have one or two. They need to give a XP bonus or something to that team in the area.

Yeah the problems I have with Pokémon GO are the battle system (basically a cookie clicker within the game) and also I think the catching needs some changes. I think they should bring back the regular pokemon battle system from the older games and make it so you had to fight the pokemon to make them weak enough for you to capture.

Level up a bit, walk around more, you should start to see better things, visit lots of pokestops to get eggs too and catch all those pidgeys to evolve them it gives a lot of xp
My look is, dare I say it, awful. I purposely walked 10km to hatch an egg, it got to 9.9km and disappeared. Got nothing in return, no Pokeman, no candies. Im just aiming to get a Jolteon, Vaporeon or Faloreon at this point from an Eevee.

You should check out the map in Nyköping, Sweden. I have on a 5 min strait walk from my home 5 stops and 2 gyms Even to a few good stops 5-10 min walk away from me where I can farm 2 stops at the same time without even moving plus a gym in the same aria. :D

I've seen people just disregard their friends because they had to go an capture those damned pikomens...

I can't believe so many people are falling for this, smh. It's Ready Player One with no actual reward. Its basically a way for a corporation to tell people where to go. So If I had a 1,000 bucks to spend I could pay the developers to place Pokemon in front of my store front and by god I'd have thousands of people rushing to my store to catch Pokemon and may it be a food shack or comic book store, well, I just got a bunch of people to come into my shop without advertising anything I sold. Fools I tell ya. Don't forget about terroist groups either, they will know when a mass gathering is held to catch Poke's, sounds pretty safe to me. Not to mention all the trackers you agree to when playing that game. Nintendo literally knows exactly where you are and can turn your microphone and camera on anytime of day if they wanted to. They can search through your pictures and your friends pictures as well. But hey, I'm not doing anything illegal, I don;t need my ammendments in the first place, I'll sign those over to a corporation. LOL idiots.
You can disable camera and mic access on android. Why do we need an actual reward? It's a game, it's for fun.

It's not just Nintendo that can access where you are at and what pictures you take, It goes through your service first, that is where the government is able to track you by request. If you read through Pokeon Go's terms, it basicallt states that all your data and such can be charged through your carrier, so you basically allow your carrier to know at all times where you are and what you are doing and allowing that carrier to confiscate your pictures as well. They are not your pictures, they are the carriers pictures. The carrier then can use those however they want and you can be infringed by using them without their consent, because without their service you wouldn't be able to take those pictures.

A reward? Catching pokemon is the reward, though meaningless, it is still a Pavlovian reward given to people to keep on playing. Dangle the treat in your face and you will chase it. That is all they are doing. Re route you to an area and they control your movements. What if the developers wanted to do an experiment to see how far the Pokemon users would go? What if they said one unobtainable Pokemon could be caught tonight by only one person in this such area and led thousands of people into a protest area or highly trafficked area in order to see what happened? It's not out of the realm of possibility. It's a test to see how vulnerable and sheepish people really are, and it is quite disgusting.
What if they place a Mewtoo or something in the middle of Congress during a meeting and thousands of people broke down the doors to catch it? Maybe on a highway? Just to test people. Is that not possible?

People do pay attention to their surroundings as well, so the highway shit wouldn't happen. You're thinking way too far into this, it's just a game. Also they can't turn on your microphone or camera if they don't have the permission, at least on android you can deny camera access. It doesn't even access your mic, nor does it access your pictures.
in school I had a best friend, we were best friends for about 8 years. after school we slowly stopped talking but when I was on pokemon go, I saw his name on the lure module. so now we are talking again and playing pokemon go. I think it is great because it gets people outside, people socialise and meet new friends.

I live in a suburban Village, where (This is probably why its different) Is a old town dating back 200 years so lots of land marks and luckily for me theirs a lake where 2 stops are and people lure the hell outta there. And I traveling to neighboring places that were more older and more population. Also I wish that they took effect of the weather like the game. And this is to all urban players, do steel types spawn there more often? I am by a lake so I get lots of waters and by a marsh where I get lots of grasses.

If rain is in the forecast for your area, water type pokemon will show up as if they were rattatas or pidgeys, it's pretty cool. Also, yes electric and steel type show up in downtown area's much more frequently

I'm loving this game right now, but I can definitely see the hype dying down in a month or so. They need to introduce trading, battling with friends, and some kind of friends list feature ASAP. Those will be some key features to keep long time players.
Hopefully it does, tired of hearing about it. People will get bored of walking around catching virtual Pokémon eventually.
We've Been waiting a Decade and half for this game, I'm gonna Catch 'em all. Even after the hype wears off, Even after everyone moves on to the next distraction and only the hardcore players are left, i'll still be hunting for Mewtwo. I might even learn the names of the Pokemon after gen 1.
Like your wife, I had no interest in Pokemon, never watched a cartoon, never read a comic, never played a game.. nothing!
I then watched an advert for it and thought it looked fun so, downloaded and gave it a try :)
I am addicted to it 101% absolutely love it and so does my wife who again, couldn't even tell you what Pikachu's name was until the game was released.
One of the main things I love about it is, I am seeing places in and around the area I live that I have never seen before :)
Strange things also, like a House that is built upside down. Walked past it about 100 times per month and never notice it until it became a Pokestop.
Can't wait to capture all the little Pokes.. Gotta Catch 'em All!
The best thing about the game imo is that it makes take my regular walks that I would normally skip more than often. The gameplay itself isn't that great, but it makes the walks more motivating when I know that I can level up by walking, hatch eggs by walking, find cool pokemons and have the game take me to places I normally wouldn't explore otherwise - places that now feel extra special because there are different pokemons in different areas. Been walking over an hour per day thanks to this game now - it's great, I feel healthier just for playing the game.
My main qualm with Pokemon Go is the play value changes based on population density. I live in the middle of nowhere - within 7km of walking I found 1 ratata, 1 pidgey, and 1 paras. The nearest pokestops and gyms to me are either 15km in the nearest town, or if there's none there in that tiny town, the city that's a half an hour drive away.
I went to visit my boyfriend who lives in a bigger city an hour away, and within his block there's at least 6 pokestops, 1 gym, and in a couple walks around the block I caught 30 pokemon or so and found a bunch of eggs. I even caught some by just sitting in his house!
The eggs are at least nice, because when I'm stuck at home, I can at least walk for a while and hatch something new.
In its current state, I would describe the game as "kinda bad." But I can't help but be addicted to it anyway, and I'm having a blast exploring and hunting with my friends.
My biggest gripe is that there's not enough reward for catching/transferring stronger or more evolved Pokemon. If I have a CP 250 Pidgey, and I encounter a CP 150 Pidgeotto, then I have little incentive to catch it. I'm never going to use it or evolve it, I'd be better off stockpiling candies for the stronger Pidgey, and I'm likely to burn several pokeballs trying to catch it when its value to me is equivalent to that of a CP 10 Pidgey.
I'm honestly not a fan of how the gyms work. If you end up stumbling upon a gym by yourself and take it over, it's almost guaranteed to be retaken very shortly since you have no one to fortify it with you. Most of the gyms I've seen have from 1-3 pokemon in them and that's a cakewalk when you get six to fight with
Tips:
1. If you miss a pokeball, press it on the ground and you get it back.
2. If you can't walk because rain ro disablities, and need an egg hatched, drive around in a car park.
love your videos boogie, and i don't want this to be taken in any way negative. i'm an overweight guy, and when this game came out i kinda looked at it as a pain in the ass to have to walk around town and do stuff, i pretty much drove around and parked where i could to get the pokestops. After realizing just walking literaly around my house in my own yard would hatch my eggs i started walking down my road about a quarter mile to the stream by my house, hung out for a little bit and saw what pokes would show up. then every day i started going farther and farther, now i walk about a mile and a half a day, just for this game. Not saying it's for everyeone, but us overweight guys definetly need every bit of help we can get, maybe we can start using this game to get into the shape we want to?
I live in a town of like 1750 people. I have this 15-20 min walking circle that goes passed 2 gyms and 11 poke stops. I try to walk for an hour a night and normally end up throwing out 150-200 items in balls, potions, and revs a day.
Pretty much my entire experience with this game:
-Open Pokemon GO
-Nearby: one Bellsprout. 3 pawprints. Nothing else at all.
-Several Poke Centers and stuff... at the very edge of my map radius, nothing else any closer.
-Exit game, forget it for a while.
-Repeat again later.
I get that this game is supposed to get me to go outside, but there's nothing to go outside for. There's nothing to open the game for at all! I have two Pokemon and it's probably going to stay that way for weeks.
I'm not a fan of walk about games. When I go outside, I go outside. When I play games, I sit down and play games. I don't like to mix the two. That's just me. I'm glad people like and can enjoy the game. And I'm glad it really helped people go outside.
Luckily I live in a town with like 9000 people so I don't really have to worry about robbery or violence
You can buy stardust though... Its called lucky eggs. No different to buying stardust. You are "paying" to level up and you are "buying" xp. Pure and simple. Its buying stardust. Its a game breaker for me. Sucks that rich kids are cutting about level 25 and the poor kids can't compete. Very poor show Nintendo.
Max level takes about 330k pokemon catches atm.
Thats 2750hours of catching 2 pokemon a minute. (5hours a day for about 550days)
Have you tried Ingress the game that Pokemon go is based off, It's how they have all the data for the areas, monuments etc
Just FYI, Malls tend to be excellent places because it appears to me that streets themselves are vains for spawning (most likely trying to cator to kids walking neighborhoods) and google maps seems to confuse large parking lots like malls for a mesh of streets very close together and in turn tends to be excellent to find pokemon in clusters. So, IMOP, a trip to the mall where you can use your chair could be an excellent option.
pokemon go is awesome. i downloaded it as soon as my friend told me it had finally been released here in UK. Iv been looking forward to its release since i first heard about it. the server issues are sooo annoying especially when i cant get into the game. i am constantly checking the app on my phone whether at home or when out the house to see if there is something/anything i can catch. i sure hope they can keep the game interesting and i agree they better not make us have to buy candies otherwise they will loose the fans. I was out in town just yesterday and i talked to others who play the game so the social aspect is awesome. Cant wait for being able to swap with people and hope we do eventually get pokemon from more regions although i am happy to wait a handful of months for that as it may take time to collect them all from gen 1, I also hope they don't wait too long to add the legendarias. keep up the good work boogie.
Here is a pro tip: Level up your pokemon at a low evolution, then evolve it at the end. This is cheaper rather than leveling up an already evolved pokemon.
