    RIP, Marvin.
He was a very nice and humble person.
I met him twice in Milan, Hotel Jolly Touring, were I was attending some business meetings and a course.
First time we met, he was seated in the lobby, alone. I recognized him and started to talk with him for a 10 minutes.
A few weeks later I met him again there, he recognized me, and had a talk. He was explaining he was living in Milan, for some time, since he was performing in a film.
I keep a very nice memory of our meetings.
He was friendly and pleased to talk to me.

Just like I remember exactly where I was @, & what I was doing when 911 happened, The Explosion of the Space Shuttle; "The Endeavor", I will always remember when Marvelous Marvin Haggler died. He too inspired me to never quit, & always do things with a passion, work hard, & live a clean lifestyle like he did, & all Boxers who are serious, live. Because of Hagler, & I followed Him since day 1 of his Pro career, I became a Criminal Defense Attorney, & @ age 60, I still train in Boxing X6/week, & I train hard just like Hagler always did. In my opinion, Marvelous Marvin Haggler NEVER lost a Fight! Respectfully written, Santiago Murillo, Esq.

Yes the boxing establishment did delay him from fighting for a world championship and the Promotors bribed the Judges in the Leonard fight with the Mexican Judge farcically scoring it 10-2 to Leonard ! It deeply saddens me that Marvelous Marvin Hagler left us so soon and so suddenly. He might have been the greatest middleweight of all time, and certainly was one of a handful of the greatest at any weight. He was the ultimate model for the dedication and hard work that built his natural gifts into world class skills, and kept him there long after he could have chosen a life of ease and pleasure.
The press often portrayed him as a brooding man, but this and other interviews show a different one; one with charm, and wit. He became a good actor after his boxing career was long over, and to the end, looked fit enough still to be the scourge of the middleweight division.
Although his passing strikes me like a severe car accident, time will replace that pain with the memories of one of the greatest fighters, and a role model to all who pursue success and decency. As his legal name says, he was simply Marvelous.

Believe it or not, there are young Americans who know NOTHING about their history going back as little as 50 years. JFK, RFK, MLK, Malcolm X, LBJ, none of these names means a thing to them.

Couldn't agree more. Ray Leonard got far more attention in the 80's but to those of us involved in boxing, he was the fighter's champion. RIP Sir.

This clip had me on the floor. Hagler was always real, humble and funny. His entrance, big smile and just enjoying the limelight. Truly a GOAT and his passing is very sad but I hope he is in a better place away from the pain and suffering. It's great to know he was so loved and respected. When I saw him fight on TV as a kid in the early 80's, I was hooked and to this day no one comes close to the complete package in and out of the ring. Bless his family, fans and legacy. RIP MMH and thank you.💔😥👏🐐

That brought back great memories. I saw that fight live in Belfast on the Big Screen in the New Vic Movie House. I can remember how Big Tommy Hearns, nonchalantly walked out from his corner and how Marvelous Marvin raced out of his corner and then they collided. The Movie House was packed and everyone rose to their feet. There was this... unbelievable cacophony of sound:
Swear words, gasps of astonishment and roars of excitement filling the theatre. Suddenly there was a huge thump of a noise as everyone similtanously crashed down again upon their seats, but in the excitement they immediately were standing once again, screaming and roaring as if they themselves were throwing and taking the punches.
When I got back to work the next day, many of my colleagues said:
" So you paid out 26 quid, stayed out until almost dawn, to watch a fight that lasted just over eight minutes, what a waste of money?"
The New Vic Movie House, ( I am saying Movie House for my USA friends,) is now gone and so is Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
The tears are welling in my eyes as I finish these words.
Thank you Tommy Hearns and of course Marvelous Marvin Hagler for that super show that you both put on for all us people of Belfast who were there during one of the greatest sporting spectacles in history.
RIP Marvelous Marvin Hagler, from all your admirers from Ireland and the UK. 🇺🇸🇮🇪🇬🇧❤
