  • Looking to increase the top speed of my Sea Ray 175 w/ Mercury 125 outboard by upgrading to a stainless steel propeller. The removal and install of the new prop seems relatively easy from what I've seen online.
The highest top speed I've achieved during perfect conditions was about 38 miles per hour and that was only once or twice over the last couple of years. My outboard came stock with an aluminum propeller with a 17 degree pitch. I'm hoping to add more speed by upgrading to a stainless steel prop with a 19 degree pitch.
The stainless steel is a harder metal so the prop can be made thinner thus allowing it to cut through the water more efficiently. Or so I've read... Watch the video and find out!
