@@Aribbonofsoundmen yeah I mean it's heavier than you'd think and I rest it against my legs when playing in bed so not bad. But overall feels sturdy and comfortable mind you it does get hot after long gaming sessions but as long as you don't hold it by the area it gets hot you'll be fine.

I’ve had a steam account for 10 years and have around 100 games but never really knew much about valve. Since preordering my deck, I have watched everything valve and deck and really like this company and fully support them.
Great SteamDeck interview, really appreciated the origin story of this thing. I too love the flexibility. I think this might also be the first time in history a company has partnered with iFixit?

In fact, it isn't really a popular drink here at all and I recall it being very gross and tasting like cough syrup... Didn't know that fun fact about the "scary man" on the can being the inspiration for Uncle Sam.

Dead Island was my favorite flawed video game. it felt like playing a B-Movie where everything was lacking but it completely was aware of it and was rockin it nonetheless. The Game had the pure Camp-Feel and didnt take itself so serious. It was a great experience and i hope DI 2 will continue in the same footsteps
Alright guys, constructive criticism. Create a shared google doc of show topics that you all contribute to, then have someone "play host" and go from bullet point to bullet point (broadly). Your banter is excellent but your transitions could use some work because it seems like the show is a little too loosely structured. But maybe that's just my perspective. Jirard is an absolute necessity in this show. Cause the other 3 don’t tend to play jrpgs and old school classic games. If he’s missing, I feel like such a huge segment of the gaming perspective gets missed. But overall, it’s such a great cast. Each one brings such interesting passion, humor, and knowledge to the discussion
So glad Ralph mentioned Rollerdrome as a rhythm game. I played that game but listening to my own playlists and honestly it added a whole new layer to the gameplay.
Lawrence described perfectly my experience with the Steam Deck at @1:22:00 I spend tens of hours playing every week and I rarely travel and if I do, I am not going to play games there so I wasn't sure if I would keep the Steam Deck. Now after 4 months I can say that I spend almost all my gaming time on the Steam Deck and it actually helped me rediscover and play games I would usually not play on the PC. I still have a beefy PC where I play more demanding games or VR, but during the week I actually enjoy picking up the Deck, sit down on the sofa and just continue playing where I left of the other day. I don't even have to close the game.
One thing that has me excited about the Lies of P is that it seems like they actually paikd attention to the book. The 4 rabbits pallbearers carrying the reliquary casket at the end for example. That's cool. I've never seen anything close to an authentic retelling of the story, and this soulslike, somehow, seems to be going for that. I play tabletop roleplaying games, and I still was going to give moonbreaker a pass. But then you explained it is from the maker of Subnautica AND the maker of Natural Selection (which was fantastic.) So yeah. Sold.
Jake if you make a soda channel, I will watch. Your content is consistently uplifting and informative please keep it up. And stop being so anxious you're great.

The talk with Valve was really interesting. The ergonomics is really interesting. I have tiny hands, so I have the opposite issue to Ralph, but I don't think it would be "better" if it was smaller. I do think they did a great job of figuring out what size would work best. So grateful to my Canadian family for allowing me to get one and I really hope my fellow Aussies can get it soon.

Hey there Skill Up, just a correction: Natural Selection was not a horde shooter, nor was it anything close to one. It was a full-PvP asymmetric multiplayer game where the human team had a commander who played the game like an RTS, but his units were the players on his team, playing an FPS. The aliens had no commander until NS2, and were usually some form of melee or support character. Games would last 20-45 minutes, and the first, a Half-Life 1 mod, was my favorite game of all time.
Epic Steam Deck interview guys. I’m loving mine. I’m playing 1080p games on my TV with zero issues and the games are not slouches: we’re talking Everspace 2 and Resident Evil 2 remake. This machine keeps surprising me. It not only became my main portable gaming console, it also became the only PC I use for gaming.
Man, Tiberian Sun was 24 years ago... I remember playing the absolute crap out of that when my dad wasn't kicking my ass at Red Alert 2. Tiberian Sun was my favorite one because it was just so weird compared to all the other games in the series. And the jump jet infantry was just the coolest thing ever. I always wanted a jet pack.
Random recommendation but since you mentioned Cary Elwes - read his book about the making of that movie; it's absolutely required reading if you like him / Princess Bride. Loved it!
That's the thing. EA, Ubisoft, Activision all started with those ideals of making great games. Now look at what they have become. I fear that history will repeat themselves.
For valve I'm optimistic because they are private owned which means they don't need to please share holder and be kidnapped by short term gain. Gabe Newell is a visioner and is lucky enough that he started valve as a millionaire. It is very interesting that the company which is private owned is more open to customers than public owned company

On the subject of Hideo Kojima having a podcast now, I just learned that Masahiro Sakurai is a TH-camr now. He started his own TH-cam channel where he talks about game design. It's called Masahiro Sakurai On Creating Games.
