A little correction for the description - It's not that we actually believe whatever the intrusive thoughts are, but more so that they elicit a huge emotional response that can cause us to do all types of compulsions.

I know what the OCD tells me is not true and my thoughts can't change anything, but at the moment it's still impossible for me... But I believe that one day I will be able to stop doing it. I just wanted to showcase a way it can be beaten, but it really is a long process and it takes a lot of effort and courage to beat it.
But I hope you can get all the treatment and help you need to recover!
The most important thing is to ask the people around you for support and to see a professional psychologist/psyquietrist that specializes in OCD.
They can help you, guide you and give you tools to be able to deal with these thoughts. When a thought appears that gives you a lot of anxiety with a strong sense of urgency, it is OCD, and the way to beat it is to ignore these thoughts, and then they will start appearing less and less often. I did not searched for this movie. After watching it, I realised that when I was little, I do the same thing. I used to do things five times ( lucky number) because I had the thought that if I don't repeat it four more times, then my family will die. I don't do it now but still I never realized that it was a problem. But still, my thoughts used to emotionally control me a lot. Like if I am unable to help someone due to practical reasons , then my thoughts used to morally correct me and makes me guilty to such an extent that I do self destruction because of unable to help other's. I don't know it is ocd or not but yeah my thoughts have controlled me emotionally to a high extent that I became self destructive.

    • @bluehydrantmedia
      @bluehydrantmedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

This sounds like it's part of OCD. You should see a psychologist/psychiatrist that specializes in OCD or one that can diagnose you, so that they can help you, support you and guide you. Those thoughts and feelings are just false things to make you feel a certain way, but these thoughts are just false and wrong, they are just trying to deceive you. These are just things OCD does to try to trick you.
You always have to take care of yourself. You deserve care and to be okay, and you are valuable and important just like all of us.
Being self destructive is never the answer or solution to anything, you always have to take care of yourself because you need to be okay just like all of us!
And those thoughts regarding having to do something so that something bad does not happen, or to do something to make up for other things, are just false and wrong thoughts that try to deceive you. There's nothing to do or solve.
It's important to always ask the people surrounding you for support, and to see an specialist, so that they can help you!
A specialist can help you identify these thoughts and give you strategies to ignore them, because all these thoughts are false and are not part of reality, so you don't have to pay attention to them.

Accurate depiction of what we all go through. I had OCD for 10 years now and went through many themes during those years, from Contamination OCD, to Sexual Orientation OCD, to Harm OCD, and the current three I'm going through and that is POCD, Real Event OCD, and False Memory OCD with the last two connected to the first one. I had my second False Memory on April 10th 2023 and while i know it wasn't real as it was a false memory, it still freaked me out and causes me to talk to myself alot. I compulsively did self reassurance to myself and it was so annoying.

To everyone who has OCD... guys i also have been suffering from OCD since my childhood and now I'm 17.... but i didn't know that it was a disorder i used to think why is this happening to me...i used to think that i am a wierd person who do wierd things....i got know abt this disorder few months ago...guys let us believe in ourselves and defeat this ocd...WE HAVE CONTROL in our thoughts...just don't let your obsessive thoughts control you.. just IGNORE them...make peace with in yourself....do meditation...do deep breathing...i can understand how terrible is that when you can't control your own thoughts in your head....but do not be discouraged....
Try to ignore these thoughts as much as you can...and eventually your mind will in control.

Thank you for the message! Yes, the key is to ignore these thoughts. OCD thoughts don't have any power over reality or yourself, they are just false dangers that try to trick you. But if you ignore these thoughts, you'll see that nothing really happens, and OCD will start to weaken and appear less and less often! That's why OCD just has to be ignored, so that you can get better!
Either way, it's always important to ask the people around you for support,

why not make one about the darker side of ocd and intrusive thoughts?(since most ppl wouldnt speak out about Pocd ,Hocd etc)

    • @bluehydrantmedia
      @bluehydrantmedia  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I just made this video in the way I thought of representing OCD, but the thing with OCD, is that it can try to trick you with subjects that are very complex or wrong, that make you feel that you are something else or makes you thing you have to do something to fix or prevent another thing, but what OCD says is never right or part of reality. These are just false things it makes up to try to scare you and trick you, but no matter what the content of OCD is, it is never right, or there is nothing to do or solve.
That's why it is always important to ask the people around you for help and to see a professional OCD psychologist/psyquietrist.
A specialist knows what OCD is, so they know that what OCD says in your mind is not you, those are just intrusive thoughts that OCD makes up, so they can help you identify OCD and ignore it. The content of the OCD, even though sometimes can be about really scary or wrong subjects, is not important while dealing with OCD. The important thing is to just identify it as OCD and not listen to it, and a specialist can guide you and help you with that.
Those types of OCD are very complicated, but with a specialist, that can guide you and give you strategies to deal with it, it can be beaten!

Remember that it is always important to ask the people around for support and to see a professional psychologist/psychiatrist. A professional can help you and guide you!
The key to beat OCD is to ignore these thoughts, that are never part of reality and that they just try to deceive you.
This way, it will start appering less and less often.
So that's why a professional can give strategies and tools to deal with these thoughts, so that you can get better :)

Can someone help me with one weird compulsion, actually I'm 18 and as a student. The thing is, whenever I'm writing or even typing on my phone the number "zero ( 0 )" , my brain shows me images of my familiars and GOD and this makes me anxious that something wrong may happen to the ones my brain showed earlier. Therefore, I just cut it or erase it (and retype it if I'm on the phone) and then rewrite it again and again, and this continues for several minutes, therefore what I do is I try to imagine myself and then write the number (zero) and then move ahead. It happens every single time. And I'm dealing with headaches 24X7 due to this. (Obviously I've hundreds of compulsions but this is the most intense one) please suggest me what should I do?

I'm not a professional, but what I can tell you, is that OCD never has any power over reality and just tries to trick you with lies. It just gives you false dangers to scare you and deceive you, but these are just thoughts, they have no power over you or reality.
The way to beat them is to just ignore them, and continue doing what you were doing. It's really difficult, because once you do it, the anxiety will start to rise, but once you realize nothing bad actually happens, the anxiety will start to fade and you will start feeling much better. This is the way to beat OCD!
The most important thing is to ask the people around you for support and to see a professional psychologist/psyquietrist that specializes in OCD. A professional can help you and guide you, by giving you tools and strategies to deal with these thoughts.

It is one of the most classic compulsions. Your brain made a connection between these thoughts and an event (0). Because you engage the brain tells you that there is a real danger. You have to do it many times in order to neutrilize the thought or to fell just right. Don't do that again or your brain will tell you that this is important. And the most important: Jesus is the Truth and He knows your truth. These thoughts are not your truth. Stay close to Jesus and make a pray every day. He will help you. Be sure of that.

I wish the best of luck to you, and I hope you can get better with this. It's important for you to ask for help, and explain what is happening to you, So that you can be understood, get helped by a professional and be supported by your close loved ones!

From my own experience I would consider this to be fairly accurate I mean with the light switch I've done that but because if I do not make the amount of times the button is pressed even than it'll bother me until it is returned to the original position that I found it in or if I spill something it must be clean not because I'm worried about someone else but because I may step on that thing and it feels just not right to have sticky floors and the planks it's not that something bad happens it's more that I have a deep dislike to step on the wrong plank and may have to go back to make it right. Wouldn't say the slap thing ever happened it's always been to me like a superstition. Like what if I don't push that button or in that instance slap myself. I do however absolutely need to have no plaque on my teeth that drives me insane can't stand the ridges it must be smooth. The bombarding thoughts happen and yes they often cause me to become stressed or shut down for a bit it's becoming less prevalent now that I'm a young adult but when I was in my early teens it really bothered me to the point of anger and frustration glad I'm overcoming my OCD.

Hi! I hope you are doing better.
It's always important for you to ask the people around you for support, so that they can understand you, help you and support you. To some people it can be difficult to understand, but if you explain it to them, even with available information or a professional diagnosis, they can understand you and help you have professional help.
It's always important to look for and see a professional psychologist/psyquiatrist that specializes in OCD.
They will understand you, and they can guide you and teach you how to deal with these thoughts. They can give you different strategies so that you can ignore these thoughts and get better.
Remember that the key to beat OCD, is to ignore these thoughts. Every thought that OCD generates, are false dangers that can never have any impact in reality. These are just thoughts OCD creates to try to trick you. That's why you just have to ignore these thoughts, and then you'll see that nothing will really happen if you don't listen to them. This way, OCD will start weakening, and it will appear less and less often. You just need to know that these thoughts have no power over you and reality, so you just need to ignore them, so that you can get better!
