    I just want to say this, speaking as a Mother. I’m incredibly proud to know you’ve changed your life around and are making a big difference in other lives. My son was incarcerated for many years. He too has changed his life and now has his own construction company. The day he came out, so did my heart. Again, I’m so proud of you. 💯❤️💯❤️

      Prison is a profit machine that makes huge money, but those in charge are so greedy that they take too much off the top for the prison to be run correctly. If they wanted to eliminate violence in prisons they could do it but won't. I know it's a lot of money being paid out in law suits but the cost of securing all prisons in the country would be a lot more. It's like auto manufacturers making safety decisions based on the cost of the safety improvement vs the money they estimate they will pay in court.

    Uk here. I did a small stretch back in 2005 in a british prison. I was just an idiot that made a stupid mistake. Your true sentence doesnt start when the door locks behind you, it starts when you get out and have to face the world after. Not easy when the system is designed to keep you in crime when its hard to get a job. Never been back, learned my lesson, been married nearly 20 years have an 18 year old son and now have a high paying job in security working for the ministry of defence so people can do better, they just have to push through the hard times that come after release and stay good.

    You don’t agree with dude doing 6-9 in there with a dude doing life…. I just got outta prison last Thursday (a week ago). Was only sentenced to 18 months, and my first Cellie had a 60 year sentence for murder, second cellos had a 40 year sentence for murder, and third cellie had a 35 year sentence for murder. When my dad asked what my cellie was in for and I told him, he was fuckin shocked, he said “whattt!?!!? Why the fuck would they put someone in for felony DUI and misdemeanor assault in with a murderer!?!?!!!!” Well, unfortunately it’s DOC and they don’t give the slightest fuck about what kind of harm they potentially could put you in. Such a fucked up system.

Like the revolving door the justice system gives to drunk drivers, on their 3rd offence,/Felony DUI and misdemeanor assault"? Like how you won't stop drinking and driving until YOU kill a family with young children? Your equivalents are slightly off. Maybe next time you're in prison it will be YOU in there for 35 years for murder.

I went to school not far from where those housing projects were located and where Malcolm-X was born. Military saved my life. When it was a men's facility they only had 1 man per cell but now that it's a women's facility, they have 2 women in each cell, doubling the amount of inmates they can house. When I was there I luckily had decent bunkies most of the time so it wasn't terrible but it really isn't enough space for 2 people.

    It’s smart taking these things to court and losing because businesses and government agencies get the amounts lowered in appeals court. What they don’t say is the dad who got awarded $95 million ended up getting less than $1 million once DOC took it to a higher court. I’ve never seen a case where the amount doesn’t get lowered.

    Bexar county ( bear county, crazy spelling) does take all of your street possessions but they do sell bandanas on commissary, it now has had a third annex built and supposedly will hold 15k inmates and their classification is trash which is why they "accidentally" house dangerous inmates with low level inmates. I would love to see you do more on that jail. There is a ton of dirt covered up in that joint.

    I got 33 months and started serving my sentence on April 2007. My first night was at Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Suffolk, I think you mentioned being there before.
    Anyway though my first night they put me in a cell with this black kid. We both got up in the middle of the night and started talking. We got along decent then we got to why we were there. I was in there for wire fraud which is white collar crime, this guy was in for murder! He of course told me he was innocent but he ended up convicted, didn't do alot of time either. 9 years I think. I mean 9 years is alot but for murder. I found out by looking him up.

    Where I was locked up, inmates were not allowed to enter a cell they were not assigned to, and this rule was rigidly enforced. Is it common in other facilities that inmates are allowed to enter other cells, or is it not allowed but they find a way? Just wondering

    At the end, you're 100% right about having to live in close quarters sparking fights and violence. When I was in the military on my first tour in Iraq, we were bunked in a squad-bay/open-dorm style building. We slept on bunk beds and the only personal space you had was your bed and about a 2x4 foot space where you could stack your duffel bag. By the time we'd been there for three months, there were fights almost every day. I punched out my bunkmate (one of my best friends) because he stepped on my mattress climbing up to the top bunk. At least there, the fights got broken up pretty quickly by other guys or the NCO's. Could only imagine in prison if everyone's scared/unwilling to get involved. People who haven't lived that way (under constant stress, no personal space, no privacy, etc) don't get it. I don't want to say it dehumanizes you, but it definitely makes you a lot more touchy and defensive about your space and your property.

  • @ibrown3KC
    @ibrown3KC 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    In the case of the Indiana dude who OD'd and died, if he knowingly, willingly, and wantonly took the drugs himself, then that's on nobody but HIM! If he knew what he was getting and took that crap, then that's his issue, i don't care what anybody says. The dealers were just trying to help him with what he asked for, i dont give a f*ck if it was fentanyl. Whatever happened to personal responsibility and accountability?
    If i take some drug and OD, im not blaming anyone but myself, and neither is my family, because they arent stupid, they know what's up.

    I understand that stealing cars is kinda trivial compared to some of the nasty ish a lot of inmates are locked up for, but it's still a majorly effed-up crime. You're taking something that's probably the most valuable thing a person owns, or second-most if they're a home owner, and the thing they count on to get to work and to take loved ones to the hospital in an emergency, etc. It shouldn't just be dismissed like something that should be given a slap on the wrist.
