Prison is a profit machine that makes huge money, but those in charge are so greedy that they take too much off the top for the prison to be run correctly. If they wanted to eliminate violence in prisons they could do it but won't. I know it's a lot of money being paid out in law suits but the cost of securing all prisons in the country would be a lot more. It's like auto manufacturers making safety decisions based on the cost of the safety improvement vs the money they estimate they will pay in court.
Uk here. I did a small stretch back in 2005 in a british prison. I was just an idiot that made a stupid mistake. Your true sentence doesnt start when the door locks behind you, it starts when you get out and have to face the world after. Not easy when the system is designed to keep you in crime when its hard to get a job. Never been back, learned my lesson, been married nearly 20 years have an 18 year old son and now have a high paying job in security working for the ministry of defence so people can do better, they just have to push through the hard times that come after release and stay good.

At the end, you're 100% right about having to live in close quarters sparking fights and violence. When I was in the military on my first tour in Iraq, we were bunked in a squad-bay/open-dorm style building. We slept on bunk beds and the only personal space you had was your bed and about a 2x4 foot space where you could stack your duffel bag. By the time we'd been there for three months, there were fights almost every day. I punched out my bunkmate (one of my best friends) because he stepped on my mattress climbing up to the top bunk. At least there, the fights got broken up pretty quickly by other guys or the NCO's. Could only imagine in prison if everyone's scared/unwilling to get involved. People who haven't lived that way (under constant stress, no personal space, no privacy, etc) don't get it. I don't want to say it dehumanizes you, but it definitely makes you a lot more touchy and defensive about your space and your property.
I understand that being in a cage will make you crave ANYthing to change your mood, even momentarily. But devils dandruff is probably last on my list. I could nod or never sleep, but the party powder vibe just wouldn't fit inside the walls.
I worked in a facility that was designed as a 1 head per cell.they were turned into doubles by welding the beds one on top tge other.and both lockers stacked.they were cozy but all in all they worked.would be different for level 4 and up.theyre cells are small.
In the case of the Indiana dude who OD'd and died, if he knowingly, willingly, and wantonly took the drugs himself, then that's on nobody but HIM! If he knew what he was getting and took that crap, then that's his issue, i don't care what anybody says. The dealers were just trying to help him with what he asked for, i dont give a f*ck if it was fentanyl. Whatever happened to personal responsibility and accountability? If i take some drug and OD, im not blaming anyone but myself, and neither is my family, because they arent stupid, they know what's up.
I'm in active addiction, OD'ed many times & it's nobody else's fault, but mine. Yet, so many parents want the drug dealer charged, but your kid went looking for it. The dealers don't know what's in it that stuff, but you do!!!
People need to understand that this is exactly rare tbh in my 10 years I did locked up I only ever heard of 3 guys losing their lives over the crimes they did to kids, children or women
I understand that stealing cars is kinda trivial compared to some of the nasty ish a lot of inmates are locked up for, but it's still a majorly effed-up crime. You're taking something that's probably the most valuable thing a person owns, or second-most if they're a home owner, and the thing they count on to get to work and to take loved ones to the hospital in an emergency, etc. It shouldn't just be dismissed like something that should be given a slap on the wrist.

I don't want to say it dehumanizes you, but it definitely makes you a lot more touchy and defensive about your space and your property.
I live in Bexar County, I been in that jail many times. It’s a really tough place to be, thoughts of suicide will overwhelm the weak of mind…
I had an 18 month sentance once and the c o 's tried to cell me with a lifer. I didn't put one toe inside that cell. heck no !
Yooooo @23&1 you should check into the murder that just happened in Lawton Ok at the correction facility it’s cray !!
Thank you Xx
Chad Doerman is definitely gonna get it. Dude slaughtered his 3 kids just to punish his STBX wife.😢
Stbx ?
@itsmeagain7825 soon to be an ex wife.
@@christopherleubner6633 thank you 😊
I understand that being in a cage will make you crave ANYthing to change your mood, even momentarily.
5:33 I chuckled when u said Bogs. Literally thats the name of one of the dudes in shawshank. Hes the gay guy tryna get to Andy in the movie 😂
*I might not be a hardened criminal but i did stay @ the holiday Inn express last night*
Having the sinks outside of the bathroom was a terrible idea.

Boggs...🤣🤣🤣 that was that bootie bandits name on Shawshank Redemption
How you can tempt fate by haphazardly giving somebody a deadly substance & not expect karma to bitch slap you is just wow
💯
Love ya bro since day one of you dropping
Do you have any information of people who were falsely accused of a domestic violence crime and beat an order of protection?
Allen County (Ft Wayne) IN, Houses some extremely violent individuals. A terrible place indeed.
Lockdown 23 and JUAAANNNNN
Is it snitching if you try to get help for an inmate who is ODing?
In the case of the Indiana dude who OD'd and died, if he knowingly, willingly, and wantonly took the drugs himself, then that's on nobody but HIM! If he knew what he was getting and took that crap, then that's his issue, i don't care what anybody says. The dealers were just trying to help him with what he asked for, i dont give a f*ck if it was fentanyl. Whatever happened to personal responsibility and accountability?
If i take some drug and OD, im not blaming anyone but myself, and neither is my family, because they arent stupid, they know what's up.
Exactly!
Maybe not killed but i heard chomos are treated like shit.
I like how you looked off in the distance when you said 23 and Onnnnneeee.!! 🤣🤣
Howdy from Morganton North Carolina
Do you remember the Western Correctional Center?🤔
The convicted child killer was not an ex ,, former member of law enforcement , , when Exceptions are Made , , the integrity of Justice becomes JUST US .
Crazy stuff
Why do I feel like a sock is the most dangerous weapon in prison 😂
Get two or three pool balls, place them inside the sock and you have an effective khosh.
