    I love the synclavier, I'm grateful the company is in the hands of someone who equally loves the history/sound of these instruments. I cant wait to try and purchase one.

    I’m very impressed by this, and can’t wait to check one out. Seems extraordinarily deep and complex, and what other people see as bugs may be features (and the rest of the concerns may be fixed easily)

    Well, they should have kept the silver knob anyway, at least a small one, half the size of the original.

    Where's the great, military-grade red pushbuttons? I had the pleasure of maintaining two Synclavier IIs back in the '80s. Mono sampling on a huge hard drive that held a whole 5 Megabytes! Entering musical scores via a VT100 terminal pre-mouse. Powerful, but took a lot of effort.
    Got to visit the company in Vermont a couple of times and met Sydney and Cameron.

    It was a very advance workstation in the 80's, i love the Arturia version, it's so massive and expressive, you should ask Tony Banks from Genesis to make some patch for it, im so happy to see those hardware version, the original cost a fortune i think the producer of the band Propaganda use that synth, like sting and Frank Zappa too.

    I'd love to use this live when on tour. Always looking on something as expressive as FM but with my own samples. Being a sounddesigner, I hope they keep optimizing the workflow of importing and looping multi samples. Btw, what's the internal sampling rate?

    • @spectre.garden
      @spectre.garden 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      According to this, 24bit max. But samples can be bit reduced down to 1bit, apparently.

    Clear winner here is the Iridium compared to this. It may be deeper in areas the Iridium isn't, but overall, seems to be a better product than this. Plus, hands on controls.

    • @cameronjones906

      It’s the FM algorithm from the original machine I developed 48years ago. The filter is a digital model of a 4-pole filter.

    I finally figured out what bothered me about this one. It suffers from the same curse as the DX7 - very powerful and deep but incredibly hard to program and understand. So I think it will eventually be reduced to a preset machine, with users doing minimal tweaking.

    • @nipslip6590
      @nipslip6590 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And yet FM synthesis still managed to make a massive impact on modern music.
      Go figure.

    • @WARDISWARD

      SO your opinion is based on actual user experience or just assumptions ? :)

    • @calyx93
      @calyx93 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bullshit. I went to Full Sail and got to be quite proficient on the Synclavier - I also owned a DX7. They're incredibly different machines and approaches. - they sound very unique. The Synclavier was actually rapid and quick to use - much, much more so than the DX series. Everything was at your fingertips and both the additive and FM were quick, logical and intuitive. Not sure where you got this idea. Reliability, superb quality and ease of use is what you paid for.

  • @gladlawson61

    I imagine it crashing ...
    Has it crashed.... I ask because I owned a new roland cm and paid a ton for ... it kept crashing and I returned it
    I flip through the video and everytime it is explanation and then someone clicking buttons and calling up... man ... it sounds good the times I hear it but tedious and annoying.
    I assume once u know what youre trying to make it could be great once you're finished... if you're a noob. Maybe try something simpler.

      Just for the record, I was asked by the interviewer to do that as he wasn't sure he had been pronouncing it correctly. We do get that question a lot. But we really don't mind how people say it.

    • @infindebula
      @infindebula 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I enjoyed the subsequent pronunciations from Craig and the keyboard player ... at the beginning Craig sets the record straight: it's "sin-CLAY-vee-er", but they kept saying "SINK-la-veer" afterward. Old habits die hard I guess :)

    Ok. Having played an original this is ok. The problem is the small size. This is a complicated device. Unless this has a way to show editing on a monitor it’s a beautiful sounding pain in the ass. Just like the original was. Sorry but that is my experience with the little itsy bitsy LCD displays. PAIN IN THE ASS.
