what happens if you keep almost tipping backwards? I thought maybe it was on backwards. however your video said it right. how can I help fix it
If its a brand new item, move the unit to the rear about 2-3 inches.
If it is an older unit, it's worn out and a new one is needed.
where did you get the swivel/rocker piece?

Can you add a rocking base to a recliner?
My springs keep breaking on this type of base. Can I replace just the springs?
Very clear and helpful. For a chair with 30 x 35" frame, are 1" x 4" boards strong enough for mount under frame? If using plywood instead for mount under frame, what type of plywood and actual thickness is appropriate (user weight approx 200 lb and chair weight approx 60 lbs)?
Run the 1 x 4" at 30". We use cabinet 3/4 " quality plywood or better but actual 1" (Russian Birch about 15 ply is even better)

I know this is an old video, but I'd like to know if it's at all possible to convert a recliner into an office chair? The conversion would include a swivel mechanism, heavy duty castors and a gas/hydraulic lift. Is this even feasible and would you lose the ability to recline if doing so (I would think so)?

Yes, you woiuld lose the recline ability. But some office chairs can lean back about 17°.
@@swivelchairparts thank you for the reply. Just so I have my thinking in the correct order; the loss of the recline ability would be due to what? Unbalance?
The height at lowest point would be high as it would require 2 mechanisms on top of each other even if a place to attach to chair is found and let alone to each other.

I just bought one of these and it did not come with the mounting screws for the mechanism. They’re supposed to have large heads. What would I have to buy to replace the missing hardware???

Can this be added to a recliner?
Usually it makes the recliner to high as the minimum unit height is 5" inches.
How do you oil it?
Normally, no oil is necessary. But if wanted i'd suggest a light spray.
