    👍GM👍 all the way Al! ❤️ I’ve had many, many GM cars & trucks throughout the years. My current daily driver is a 07 Tahoe with 278k & runs/drives like brand new! I tend to “over-maintain” it a little as this truck is🤣.
    I’ve had VERY bad luck with Ford products but that’s a story for another day.👎

    Trucks, unlike cars reach a certain value ( about $2000-$2500 here ) and stay there regardless of age, mileage or dings. There is always a cash market for that truck to run to Home Depot in. For $1000, you got a great deal.

    I would sand down any rust, and fill holes and damage in with body filler. It's like $7 a bucket at Walmart. Then paint the truck with raptor liner. Sweet project truck man!

    I'm a Ford guy but that looks like a good buy. I bought my son a 2000 GMC SLE stepside only because I knew the owner. Typical problems from that era GM product. Valve covers leaked and the fuel gauge sending unit was shot. He would still have it except he totaled it.

    The airbag light could be that key switch on the dash.

    • @bigalsbikeandauto

      ARednecksLife explain what you mean about the key switch?

    • @redneckbryon
      @redneckbryon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Big Al's Bike & Auto on the dashboard just below the radio to the right of the climate control there should be a small whole I believe it has a picture of an airbag on it, it's used to turn the passenger side airbag on and off, the ignition key should fit in there to operate the switch.
      I believe when it’s in the off position the airbag light will be on.

    I have a 98 with the 5.3 vortex engine with the same body style, If you get the P0171 lean code you need intake gaskets, my engine sounded good until I started driving it and the gaskets went bad. It's an easy fix if you know what your doing. And if your master is empty then you are losing fluid somewhere, could be leaking at a caliper front or rear, my master went bad and I just had no pedal but fluid levels stayed the same.

    You have a leak most likely, when theirs fluid its a leak. See if the brake booster is wet were the master cylinder attaches to it. If its wet the master cylinder is leaking from the piston.

  • @gosportjamie

    As another comment said it sounds like a classic master cylinder going bad. As the other comment said it would be a good idea to change the booster/servo at the same time, it's much easier to do with the master cylinder out of the way and the booster does look like the original so it's probably better to do it at the same time than end up with a new master cylinder and then have the brakes go rock hard because the booster has failed. Overall I'd say that was a good buy. other than the rust in the bed sides which seems to be very common with them it looks like a very well cared for vehicle and with it having been with the second owner for nearly 15 years and having a mountain of paperwork you can bet it's been a good truck for them so there's no reason why it shouldn't continue to be. Although it has a few miles on it it's clear from the condition of the driver's seat that a lot of those miles were on long journeys so mostly highway and therefore easy miles. If it had done all the miles around town on short trips with the driver getting in and out all the time the seat would be a whole lot more messed up...

    I have a similar story, I got a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 that was a contractor's truck its entire life. Although it was maintained well. It has 264k on it and runs like a watch (rare for a Dodge) I paid only tow costs 300 bucks for it. It was a stolen truck that was recovered in Baltimore by BPD. The owner got it back and it had some damage inside like a busted ignition, stolen radio, and a few other minor things it needed to run. The owner had a new truck for his business and this one sat for a year with the intention of finding the time to fix it. A year goes by he realizes he'll never have time so I know him and he asked me if I wanted it to get it off the property he was renting. I was like hell yeah!! It has the same rust in the rear wheel wells also. But, I don't care I use a truck for a truck.

    been meaning to ask do you ever get police and emergency vehicles from copart ?i am trying to pick up a used push bar and white or orange used roof lights everything I'm finding on eBay is new and what I'm looking for is the older generation, not those seizure lights. Working on a Ghostbusters minivan. and trying to get lights and him front bar for it and at the same time get a front bar for a Dodge charger. I picked up a while back .

      @peterparker6584 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      that you probably wouldn't bother with police vehicles from copart. So at the risk of once again sounding stupid. Do you know of anybody that does by police vehicles and sells the parts off of them? Haven't been having any luck trying to find used components on eBay from older emergency vehicles only resources they have. Our new components and the prices are pretty steep on the new stuff.looking for a old rotisserie model light. Not one of those flashing seizure lights and 2 worn in push bars rather than new ones where they party have a matching visual aesthetic. Instead of being shiny and new and stand out.

    Put your plow on a Broncos or Tahoe. Much shorter and much easier to use in a driveway area.

      BIG BRIAN7 GTA that’s total BS. Every residential home in a 100 mile span of here has a 1/2 ton truck with a plow. I wouldn’t commercially plow a 1/2 ton truck but for residential the frame will be fine.

    What I got from watching this video confirms what I've always believed. You take care of your vehicle and your vehicle will take care of you. This is especially true of trucks because they have heavier duty parts that will last longer.
