I just replaced the lift cylinder seals on my 530. I braced my arms up on some 2x6s going from the floor up to the arms. I was shocked when I pulled the pin on my first cylinder to watch my Bobcat tip back until the rear pan hit the floor and my front wheels were about a foot off the ground. I thought about the physics of that for a couple days before I could understand why it did that. Sure wish I had known about that before I started. No harm done, but it was a bit of a scare. Also, it was good that you mentioned the ring on that inner collar shrinks back down over time. I was concerned about how loose that ring was after I had stretched it to get it in place. Had I tried to reinstall the ram without letting the ring shrink back down, I would have ruined it. Great instructional video!

It sure is crazy how they lift the front like that. I was in same state of mine the first time I did that too lol. Had to stop and think for a bit.

Often times I will use lithium grease to move seals into place, but that's for machine applications.

Yeah, only things I use lithium grease for is door hinges and such. I don't find as much use for it as one would think I guess.

I am interested in a 632. Sounds like regular repairs will be required. Are parts easy or hard to find? Are there plenty of youtube videos like yours to help me?

Some parts can be hard to find since it's so old but for the most part they are easy to find and affordable. Just don't go directly to BobCat lol. They will take you far all you have.

Do you know if that cylinder has a 25.9" stroke? Here's why. I have a damaged lift cylinder on a bobcat 720. I have been looking for a replacement with no luck. I know the cylinders are interchangeable on bobcat 700, 720, 721, and 722, and i found out that the 620 may be interchangeable. I found a fire damaged 630 and the owner may be willing to sell that cylinder. It's been impossible to find specs but I have the manual for mine that list the rod and bore diameters (1.25" and 2") and the stroke (25.9").
The rod on yours looks like its identical, but I can't tell without an exact measurement. Any chance you measured the length or have the specs?

I never measured it and don't have the specs. I did find out it appears to be a 1982ish 630 though. I could probably measure length on it though if need be.
