There are 3 different legal classifications of Ice Cream in Japan. The classification needs to be clearly added onto the packaging. The frozen treat is required to have a minimum percentage of cream/milk depending on which of the 3 categories it falls under.
The best is "アイスクリーム", literally ice cream. This is the quality ice cream that you were probably expecting. It tends to be the most expensive but highest quality. Next is "アイスミルク" literally ice milk. It has a higher content of milk in it than cream. "ラクトアイス", literally lacto ice. As you mentioned it is good for the summer heat, but it's more ice than it is dairy.
You can easily check the katakana on the packaging to easily figure out the category/quality of the frozen treat.

As a Swede it hurts to say, but yes, you do have the best chocolate, probably in the whole Baltic region. The classic blue is great, but there is one that comes in a slightly smaller package that says "made with fresh milk" that's even better, do you have it in your domestic market as well?

@@StorKejsaren for normal chocolate you're definitely right, Fazer is amazing. We in Sweden go very strong with Cloetta though, some of their chocolate including products like Plopp are wonderful.

I am an American who knows the taste you are talking about, though I have only noticed it in the taste of M&M's in levels I considered noteworthy. I don't always taste it when eating american chocolates, but it blows my mind we add a chemical from spoiled things to a food for *reasons* but don't allow unpasteurized milk.

They don’t. The flavor comes from boiling/cooking real liquid milk during the chocolate making process. Foreign/superior chocolatiers use powdered milk to avoid this flavor byproduct.

Try out the local sauna culture, also known as bathing. There are at least couple of old school public sentō bath houses in Asakusa. Akebonoyu has an ok looking exterior façade for the vlog shot. Interiors look mostly the same in every old school sento.
Obviously filming might be a bit tricky. You need to be there when no one else is, to even have a chance at filming some b-roll. If you go and film guerilla style, not asking permission (witch I recommend as asking for permission is a hassle and you will most likely be turned down. But it's kind of ok to film if there is no one in the bath or in the changing room. Right?) you can't really do vlog shots inside cause the cashier is close enough to hear you speaking... alone... to your self... in a bath. 🤐
But obviously filming in a bathhouse is still technically breaking the rules, even if there is no one in there. And sometimes viewers seem to be stickler for rules here on TH-cam.

Hershey's chocolate went completely down-hill in the late naughts (around '07) when they moved most of their production facilities to Mexico. The quality of water, dairy, and other ingredients went from A-tier to F-tier, and Hershey's is now just generally regarded as 'bargain-bin chocolate'. Thanks, fella~! What sorts of wacky things will Mudan get up to tomorrow?

    • @nexustom5823
      @nexustom5823 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not good enough argument
Hershey just taste horrible just accept it, with their horrible american options
I don't think is good enough reason, you prolly just grew up of the flavor and didn't realize how shitty it isIf you want to complain of countries like mexico not really
Always watched here on yt of americans and how Mexico coke taste better and I thought it was some magic they did there, much to my surprise once I actually google it, it was just USA using HFCS instead of just sugar which all countries already use😅
I remember going in some kind of fancy market of imported products and bought an american peanut butter, that shit stayed in my mouth like I gluped some oil car that couldn't get rid of it, much to my surprise, it had hcfs it couldn't be anything else

As a fellow lover of cheese, weird cheese combinations AND mint&choc.. my Latvian-self respects you even more now. o7 When I visited a few months back there was that DARS choco with a muscat flavour, was goooood. Also I really recommend this one ice cream bar, I had to google translate a pic of it and it said "Kikyo Shingen mochi" flavour, it has a pic of that said mochi on a plate and the packaging is red with small white flowers (I think I found it either in FamilyMart or Lawson). There's so many layers to it. The Lipton milky earl grey tea ice cream was surprisingly good too, if you love tea! : D

Whenever I visit Japan, I always get the Super Cup ice cream. You can't go wrong with the basic vanilla flavor but my favorite by far was the banana cookie flavor. Think oreo cookies with banana flavored icecream.👌However, I don't know if it's still available because they seem to have seasonal specials too and I couldn't find it anymore last time I visited.😢 (They also had choco mint at some point which I found pretty good.)
I really like the mochi ice too!
I absolutely adore the Haichuu/Hi-Chew candies! We have maoam over here but they're so shit in comparison. lmao Best Hi-Chew (imo) are the sour suppaichuu, green apple and grape ones. They must be soft tho! If they're kinda hard, they're old or maybe were badly stored.
One of my favorite chocolate snacks are the coffee chocolate tubes that you can see in upper right corner at 3:02, the small choco caramel balls with the bird on the package and the chocolate covered macadamia (one can be seen on the left side at 3:07 but I think there was another version in a dark brown packaging that I liked more - it's been a while).
Obviously, they're not as great as fazer chocolate, but I feel it's pretty difficult to even get close to that.😆I'm also from Europe so I might have similar tastebuds. lol

For favorite snack candy in the USA, Riesen by Storck (chocolate-covered chocolate caramel bites) are good and ginger chews by Prince of Peace that has a big kick of ginger and chewy sweetness that can also soothe an upset stomach. Buy these individually wrapped candies by the pound, but it takes a long time to eat if you limit yourself to a few a day (requires more discipline for the Riesens).

11:30 Lotte is a Korean company, but I've never seen that ice cream here, so I'm assuming it's a Japanese exclusive. One Cup Ozeki is fine. I had a lot of sake at similar price points and some were much better, others were worse. There was one I got from an ekiben store for about Y700 that was better than some expensive ones, but it's worth giving some of the two litre cartons a chance. Out of everything I tried though, the best was about Y1000 for 350mL from a liquor store in Kyushu.
Could be worth commenting on liquor stores btw, as it's something most tourists probably never end up seeing, as alcohol is so readily available elsewhere.

Please try some of the good French Bakeries. Some do excellent baguettes and croissants. Also try some of the good Napoli pizza places: Seirinkan, PST, Savoy, etc.

Talking about sweets, has someone had a chance trying something from Roshen company? I know it is exported to Europe at least, interesting to hear what people think about our sweets

I'd seen people diss the One cup sake countless times, and I had the chance to try it myself. I actually enjoy it as well. It's not the best sake by any means, however I think it's a pretty okay one.

Wow, can only agree with everything Mudan said. About bread and chocolate.
And normally taste is very subjective.

Nice videos, I have been watching everyday :)
I actually really like the Ghana and Meiji chocolate because it is not too sweet, and the cocoa taste is more strong.

Look out for the UCC Cafe au Lait in the vending machines. It is relatively rare but imo so much better than the other can coffees. Basic UCC is also a bit better, but more comparable to the other brands

Hersheys cooks the milk in a way that makes it taste different or something like that I watched a video on it. But yeah it’s interesting when you sit down and try to taste puke flavors in your chocolate

Japanese bread has a light "sponge" like texture to it. I feel like it leans more towards cake than bread
