  • The Bronco Sport featured in this video is a 2023. This procedure will be the same for 2021-2023, but some will have a traditional oil drain plug bolt instead of the plastic plug on this one.

    great video. I would use a hand tool for screws so they dont strip. Wipe the filter gasket surface clean, and lubricate the new gasket. otherwise the best video presentation Ive seen.

    That was quite possibly the best presentation of a responsible oil change ever. You just boosted my confidence 100%. Off to Walmart to get my oil, filter, wrenches and pan. I'll have to use ramps though. Don't have enough money for a lift, lol.

    Great video hit all the points and the oil reset . If you get a bronco sport in for front and rear brakes i would love to see a video as well

    Well done draining it without making a mess. I ended up buying the Ronin Factory easy oil drain plug to replace the yellow plastic plug as it allows you to drain the oil in a controlled manner. It also has a magnetic tip on the plug.

      Thanks! Thanks for the tip! That sounds like a great product. I’ll look into it and maybe link it in the description.

    FYI -- The factory 2024 oil filter was 1 inch shorter than the replacement filters (purolator 10241 or Motorcraft FL910S) 2.25 versus 3.25 inches. the 13 screws already hold the cover well, the 2 plastic clips aren't really needed. Didn't really need to lift the car. There was enough room for a one arm reach job. (If more room is needed drove onto a 2x6 to get the extra 1.5 inches)

    Bro you are in the right profession! Those 12 T-30 would have made me toss a wrench right quick. 😂

      lol, remember when an oil change was easy and you didn’t have to take 100 clips off and 3 panels to find the drain plug. Haha

      Lost 1 already? There are 13 torx screws. if I can find some thumb screws with the same thread it'll make things really easy....

    i learned that its always good to take the oil cap off before you drain the oil so you dont end up with a engine with out a way to put oil back in

    4:55 alternatively, install the panel after pouring in fresh oil, running the engine for a minute and checking if there are any leaks.
    I can see that the bronco sport owner will lose those panel screws quickly if they go to a quick drive through oil change shop.

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a great tip for anyone with any leaking concerns.
      I totally agree, those screws will go missing in a hurry. Another reason to tackle this job at home.

    I knpw this video came out a while ago and is good info but why didn't you take the filter off first since it is higher up?

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Can you elaborate on why you should do it first because it's higher up? I haven't heard of that before.

    I just changed my oil in 2023 Big Ben and put back in 6 qts and 20 oz. I got this out of manual. 6.6 qts. Is this what you put in? thanks

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, as I covered in the video and describe, it took 5.3 qts. I’m not sure if there is possibly a difference from year to year.

      I just changed my sister's 2023 Bronco Sport Big Bend 1.5L with the same plastic oil pan. I initially put 5.3 Quarts, checked out and it was low that none of the holes in the dip stick were covered. I then dumped another .7 quarts (6 total quarts) and it went up to the second circle. Then dumped another .6 quarts (6.6 total quarts) and now it's full. I can confirm that at least mine took 6.6 quarts and it's a 2023 Bronco Sport Big Bend with the 1.5L (plastic oil pan)

    • @markbogardus
      @markbogardus 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@IADHDD That is the correct amount of oil the 2023/24 Big Bend 1.5l engine takes according to the manual 6.6 quarts. I had to correct the dealership when they changed the oil in my Bronco. They shorted the change by a quart.

    Would you recommend switching over to full synthetic if budget wasn't a concern?

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely. If you do your own oil changes the cost difference will be about $5. If you bring it in, then they will charge you substantially more. Either way, synthetic oil is superior oil and I would definitely recommend running it.

    When did they switch to a plastic oil pan on the 1.5?

      Oct 2021. Plastic oil pans take 6L metal takes I think closer to 5L
