This was like the vinyl equivalent of attending the opening of Tutankhamun's tomb! I picked up a batch of late 60's albums about 5 years back in similar unplayed condition including an immaculate pressing of Led Zeppelin II with the 'Living Loving Wreck' label misprint. Nice to see you covering other acts besides The Beatles as well.
Sorry all I can Write is Wow! Your Presentations are Flawless! Thank you for your hard work!
I don't understand how you have so little subscribers. I never watch unboxing videos from anyone other than you, nothing can compare to how professional these videos are.
Just uploaded, give it time dude!
This is quite possibly the best thing I could've asked for this weekend!!
What a lovely collection Andrew. Looking forward to the sleeves. :)
Wow, that's an impressive collection. I've not heard of anyone back in the day taping LPs and then storing the vinyl, only ever playing the tape. That said, when I buy CDs, I immediately rip them and rarely ever play the CD. Not much different, really. Looking forward to seeing the covers! 😀
In the 90s I used to buy vinyl and transfer it to VHS Hi-Fi stereo for repeated playback.
I’ve sold U.K. first or second pressings on eBay for between $400. and $1200. I’ve only got a few left ,but if you saw me on eBay ( which I HATE ) you would see the ones that went for big money. Condition was EX + to NM on the ones that got that kind of money. I too taped them to a Revox - Studer A 77 or a Tandberg deck at 7.5 ips. Recording at 15 is insane ,and 10 inch reels costly.
I much prefer virgin BASF tape to anything else. And you can sequence the songs the way you like.
Example of an album I got $1200.for. Went to a Japanese buyer. It’s was the I believe third pressing stereo with BLACK STEREO on front cover of Rubber Soul. It was VG+ condition ,but as I made mention in the as. The BLACK stereo covers are much rarer than the silver STEREO covers, and also the first ones printed.
The issue was no one could see the black on the front cover as it blended in with the background above Paul’s head. So they tried silver …
So if you have a BLACK stereo rubber soul cover in VG+ or better come. You’re in luck …
Why Parlogram hasn’t hired me for the USA market is a mystery :)
That’s exactly what I used to do back in the 80’s right through to the 90’’s. I used a Pioneer reel to reel recording my LP’s to it was a real treat and the sound quality was nearly as good as the turntable. I’d still have it today only for a house fire 🙄😒
@@mbvideoselection yeah I did this when I had house parties so that I didn’t have to keep jumping up to change the records or CD’s and it sounded really good too. My mates couldn’t believe it was possible 😀
These videos are oddly relaxing. Great for a Saturday morning lie in
The first "Tommy" records you looked at are not the film soundtrack. This is Lou Reizner's orchestral "Tommy" with various guest vocalists. including 3 members of The Who.
G'day Andrew. I find your unboxing videos so extremely relaxing, calming and informative to watch. Thank you for yet another brilliant piece. Awesome to see how many subs you have now too! Cheers
Steve
Cheers, Steve!
Oh man ...this puts a nostalgic hurt on this ol heart of mine! So wonderful. Now I gotta watch the whole thing too?
It’ll be great, I’m sure!
Wonderful! I really enjoy these videos. They are relaxing and informative! That’s a great combination. Exited for the next video on the covers!!
Excellent Sunday night viewing great collection of records-Going to the covers video now-Thanks for posting Salute
Thanks for watching, Giovanni.
Great video as always! I'm drooling like a hungry dog that can smell it's dinner. Woof.
great video as always. You learn and enjoy, while also having a strange relaxing effect. Fantastic, Thanks for sharing! A very cordial greeting from Spain!
Glad you enjoyed it, Joan!
Really nice collection ! Especially like the Kinks, Hollies and Animals : It was always hard to find the UK pressings of those over here. Thanks again for another wonderful video, Andrew.
Tommy at 10:10 is the orchestral version that came out in the early 1970s. That My Generation on Brunswick earlier must be worth about fourteen million million pounds 😆
Wow! What a collection! I’m sure the covers will be just as good, thanks Andrew…
It’s funny about the seem split thing thou is that I don’t have that problem at all whoever I get albums online whenever I order it’s always separated and I never knew why until now and it makes me more grateful as a record collector that they do that without me ever saying so. Grate unboxing as usual andrew. And I hope you have a good one.
You can play a record as much as you want without wear or deterioration as long as you have all the parameters met!
1. Tracking force under 4 grams
2. Keep records/ stylus clean (each side)
3. Proper anti-skate
4. Proper overhang
5. CARTRIGE ALIGNED CORRECTLY !
6. change stylus every 6-8 months!
But I doubt that people would go through all that back then to preserve records that were always in abundance at the time!
When you say every 6-8 months, can you equate that to an amount of LPs played please? Thanks :-)
@@pootle5096 oh, sorry! Cartridges are different, some are good up until 500 hours of play, some (like mine) are 1000 hours! If you figure an average record is around just over 30 minutes (some are longer, like double LPs) , then you can figure out about the time you need to change it! Sorry about the vagueness, but I was "estimating" since cartridges are different! I'd refer to the manufacturer or manual for more information! Hope that helps!
@@analoguecity3454 Thank You. :-)
I collect vinyl from my fave bands but rarely play them. I am, however, always being asked by friends to capture theirs and put on CD for them.
changing a stylus every x-y-z amount of months means nothing - determination on the other factors like have you kept it spotless, the lifetime of particular diamond, the model of stylus , the tracking variable - keeping your eye and microscope on the diamond are more important than posting a 'time limit'. If you keep your record clean and the stylus , you can extend the lifetime of it ten fold - compared to someone cleaning it every so often.. clean the stylus after every play. All records and diamonds wear incrementally no matter what you do (when you use them) , that's the nature of physics and friction - even if not perceptible.
Greetings from Liverpool, England. Just change the stylus when one notices a significant degradation of the sound. Once records has been cleaned it shouldn’t need any major cleaning for a long time. A quick clean now and then with a carbon brush will suffice. All other adjustments etc will be carried out before a record has been played. Simple, enjoy the music..
Great collection Andrew. I have most those in my collection but NOT in that condition. Lovely to see. Bring on the covers!
Thanks Andrew that was impressive. Nice to know about dates on the inner sleeves, new to me. Really looking forward to seeing the condition of the covers!! That cheered me up I must say!!
Yeah, I already picked up the very interesting info on date coding on 70s EMI sleeves some videos earlier. Very useful!
Fascinating. Nice one, Andrew!
Glad you enjoyed it, Bob!
Wow! Fantastic collection there..... You can tell that the previous owner who recorded them to a Reel-to-Reel was also a cat lover!!
Never seen so many cat hairs on so many records!! :-D
I cant wait for more videos!
Love seeing those sixties labels in mint condition, hell ,I love seeing them in any condition, lol, but there is omething about mint labels. There are some great re releases around with copies of original labels, just got the fiftieth anniversary Arthur, by the kinks, two LP s with original blue Pye labels, and Ian Carr's belladonna, with a vertigo swirl label and inner sleeve,I nearly fell over when I saw it.
I’m looking forward to seeing the next video (the covers).
Wow,this was a vinyl marathon.😲👍♥️
Evolution and butterfly are my absolute favorite hollies albums
Hollie Christ 😆
That's a huge amount of records for 1 video!
Just finished watching and can't wait to watch the covers unboxing now.
PS. The whole time I kept thinking what if a record is more than one times? Then you'd probably go deep to details to find which one goes with which cover 🤣
I always grimace when I see that knife !
Gret records. Looking forward to the unboxing covers video. Cheers, Nelio.
20:35 my favorite beetles album! 😁
both very interesting and relaxing to watch your videos
Glad you like them!
I have an excellent copy of Fire's Magic shoemaker, original UK Pye, it's only been played about 3 times. Cost me three bucks Australian, it's in bloody good nick
Seeing the links on Pye reminded me of the Fire album
That version of Tommy is the 1972 all star symphonic version. Ringo Starr appears as Uncle Ernie so there's some Beatles content. The 1972 symphonic version is what sold Ken Russell on making the mid 70's film version.
Something of fantasies!! Fab!
I have a first pressing of beggars banquet on the unboxed stereo label (My profile picture)with 1K on both sides and it is basically EX sounds amazing ! Lovely wide stereo, I wonder how the other Matrices sound ?
The second album is the Kinks with their “Greatest Hits” album on PYE in the UK, but it was also released in the US on Reprise which was Frank Sinatra’s own label where he put out a lot of his albums and also put out many of the albums by Dean Martin. I did not know the Kinks was on Sinatra’s label in the US.
In addition, The Who’s “My Generation” on UK Brunswick label, not the same label that did Jackie Wilson, Young-Holt Unlimited (with their only hit “Soulful Strut”), Barbara Acklin, and the Chi-Lites in the US, but the US release was on Decca.
The Beach Boys were also on Reprise from 1970-78
Like you I am a bit of a fanatic about original inner sleeves and their condition. Been keeping track of them for many decades. May be a bit odd and esoteric, but someones gotta do it...!
Nice haul with the Hollies' albums. As you noted, those weren't big sellers because they were primarily a singles group. By the late 1970s, those were reissued with different titles in Europe, because the originals were long gone. Here in the US, we were able to get the "budget" reissues as imports. Interesting point to note that while working in a local record shop around 1991 or so, we had some collector / dealers from the UK visit us for shopping purposes. I mentioned to the pair that I collected the Hollies. Back then they stated they never really had very many in stock. The reason being is that whenever they came across them, the albums (according to them) were far over-priced AND in very poor condition. I imagine that father time has put many of those old albums back in to circulation, but those are fine examples of the original UK Hollies' albums.
I want this WONDERWALL!!!
I'm guessing there'll be a lot more Hollies cover versions (um, covers, I mean) in the next video. (LOL). Along with Beatles, Lennon, Stones, etc.
I don't think I would have been able to sleep between opening the box with the LPs and waiting for the box of covers to arrive. It would have been a disaster if the covers got lost in the mail... or vice versa. That My Generation LP really looks stunning. Wish I could afford it.
Hi Andrew,
Another fantastic unboxing video. Lots of great pressings . I was especially interested in the Rolling Stones releases.
Hope you and the family are doing well.
Mark Anthony K
Projekt Gemineye
The Stones albums were the best ones. Hope all's well with you too.
the thing that allways got me about the Kinks is how often searches for the KINGS will ask me if I mean the KINKS when No I really do mean the KINGS The Canadian Group who had one major hit with Switchin' To Glide // This beat goes On. from their Debut album The Kings are Here.
Wonderful presentation! Now for the covers.👍👍
Strange how some of the 70's albums were in worse condition than the 60's ones! Maybe a different owner originally? What a collection though Andrew! Really looking forward to the album sleeves video now! Cheers Ian
This makes me realize I don't have much of the beatles solo stuff... Outside a few Wings Singles, a few singles of tracks from double fantasy and Double Fantasy itself I have nothing.
I'm intrigued by your "record cleaning machine". Could you show us that someday?
You can see it here, Colin: th-cam.com/video/eVw7sBzh-I4/w-d-xo.html
You’re gona be busy cleaning those records Andrew 👍😵💫
I have a quick question. We’re do you guy these albums. Would love to know so I can get originals by the Hollie, Beatles, and Kinks
Beautiful; do you run an auction site for all these? Or do you keep them? Those are beautiful condition and history wise! Incredible
Thanks for watching, Erik. They were all for sale on our website: www.parlogramauctions.com
Is all the hair and dust because the original static never wore off?
So, the first UK Abbey Road pressing didn't have cueing bands?
Ooooh very nice, that would have cost a bit...I bought a magazine with all the kinks albums and they were saying originals for a lot of them go for four to about seven hundred pounds each.....I have a vertigo article from over twenty years ago and the most expensive is about four hundred and lots were only about fifty pounds then, now they are often in the thousands in mint condition
where do you buy these incredibly large lots? i can never seem to find any.
Where do you get these packages from??
Capitol I believe pressed MMT from fourth or fifth generation tapes.
Then other countries used tapes they got from Capitol I think.
But EMI - Hor Zu finally got it right …
As i see you can' t get allways what you want. The Kinks i got one record from our radio station, specialy pressed for them.( not for sale.) "Rolled Gold," from 198..former Yugoslavia stereo- mono pressing is best for me their early works. "Let it be," my first pressing is 1970. on "Parophone," label." Excile on Main Street," i gave my mint condition copy to my nephew,i never listened to it. Former Yugoslavia pressing.
What’s your opinions on the stones mono ?
Great!
Andrew, will any of these be for sale?
Yes, they will be appearing on the site next week: www.parlogramauctions.com/
I’m a simple man I see Hollie’s I click
I’ve got to ask. I’m only six albums in here ,so haven’t seen entire unboxing. Are these “almost “ all German albums ? Hollies obvious U.K.
The others BIEM ,and GEMA on labels ,and no SIUK tax codes after 1965.
Guess I’ll have to watch the rest of your great video.
Lovely stuff, but the Tommy LP is not the film soundtrack, its a Lou Reizner produced orchestral version of the album (played by the LSO) that predates the film by 3 years.
Although I’ve never heard George Martin’s Help LP, I’ll bet none of it appears on the American Help! soundtrack.
No they don't, David and if you heard this LP you'd know why.
Something's just occurred to me... Is Andrew the son of Whispering Bob Harris?!?!
That was a lot of fun!!! Am I correct that Revolver was missing? I find that surprising considering the caliber of this collection.
@20:27
@@Parlogram Now I see it :-) Thank You!
Looks like a foine, foine treasure trove.
How does it work, anyway? Do you buy up collections like this, or do they contact you to sell their collections through you for a percentage?
All of the above.
@@Parlogram Cool :)
that's funny how the Stones copied even the inner sleeve graphics of Sgt Peppers in their concept album Satanic - albeit distorted looking. Was hoping to see a rare Mono copy ;)
Me too ;)
These Lps no coming with yours capas and stayed hard for identification the group and record make it.Uchino of Japan. The next time Andrew.
"[My Generation] was played and played" ... by teenager sout of their minds on pills.
Why, because you don’t like the album
