I used a smaller suction tube on mine and it worked. I miss the good Ole days when you could pull a drain bolt and a fill plug and call it a day in about 5 minutes with a beer
After watching your video I used a small piece of plastic vacuum line and taped it into the vinyl hose on a air powered vacuum brake bleeder, it has to be inserted on the inside rear of chain. The previous owner must have overfilled the chain case because I extracted more lube than what is that little bottle.
I was wondering how long it would be before you caved in and opted to open the chain case...lol. As soon as I saw the siphon hose, I giggled and knew you'd end up opening the case to drain the oil. Ah well, you got it done and ready to go! Had my sleds out once for a quick field run. But snow is gone now. Soon.
Haha yeah it was worth a shot...sort of. Even just to give me to push I needed to start turning wrenches lol. We have plenty of snow but still no trails... soon hopefully!
you can definitely suck it out like you were doing but you just had to go immediately to the left to get behind the gear on the far far side (AKA motor side) of the gear that you can see and jiggle and work your hose down, may take a few tries but it is possible!
Probably had some water in it. My Polaris chaincase oil I just changed was pretty gray when its normally blue. They're supposed to be changed every 1,000 miles or so anyway.
You should've used a flush and spin the track for a bit after draining the fluid. Also it wouldn't hurt to get a retracting magnet down there to see if there's any metal. Jus sayin'
Update,,,whoa,,,you're gonna need a clean receptacle to catch your oil in before you crack that case, then run a magnet through that. I cut a blue 5 gal water jug in half (long way) and keep the mouth whole. Works great for pouring the dirty oil out after.

Maybe I'll pick up a smaller hose and try that next year. Would sure save some time!

It is COLD! Full moon though, had to go out and take a picture haha.

Dude, I wish PA had enough snow drop in a season. But it's so random anymore. Oh well, I'll keep dumping $ into the KLR. Keep moving Forward!

The stuff in my Dragon was black... I don't know if that ever got changed lol.
Cool Vid. how many miles before you changed the oil?
I was thinking a drill, tap and plug were in order. Seems they didn't think it needed to be changed that much :)
I thought that to actually lol
Keep posting
