That was awesome, man. Great track! The looping effect at 2:50 definitely adds to the track, even if it was a bug. It's unintended moments like these that make jams feel alive, imo!
Simply amazing! Congrats! Have you ever thought to extend this to a "real band"? I mean, it would be extremely cool have this as a basis, and then a sax or trumpet making solos on top, or having a guy rapping hard on it...I don't know, just ideas :) but if you do it so, I want to hear it for sure! Congrats again.
Thank you! Funny you ask... I used to play in a band out of LA several years ago, but I moved out of the area. Been making music on my own since then. Maybe one day in the future when I move back! Our group had a deep musical connection, one where we just understood each other without saying anything. Its been difficult for me to find that same feeling with other musicians... Until then, I will keep making music on my own!
This is amazing. The volcas are tiny in size but enormous soundwise. One question tho. In another comment I read you used a Quadra Thru for splitting the MIDI channels, but what other gear did you use in this setup? Any mixer and/or audio interface? I'm new to this world and would love to learn how you recorded this great jam. thx!
Yes. I use the midi solutions quadra thru to split the midi out. I use the internal sequencer of the FM, but it follows the clock of the BSP so it all stays in sync
@@MouthTrumpetOrchestra I could not get the bsp to power my Quadra thru. How do you have your set up? Quadra thru takes a regular midi where as bsp takes midi b wiring. I could not get the bsp to power my Quadra thru with the pin set up.
Hey i really like your video! Can is ask maybe you have some insight, should i get the beatstep pro as a brain to control my volca bass keys and sample, or would it be better with an electribe? Or to put it in another way, is the jamming smoother with the beatstep than the electribe? Im thinking about to get a brain for the volcas, and if the electribe could handle them, then its better with those fx, and own sound
Sorry for the delay in my response. The BSP is a great brain for the volcas. The only downside is that it isnt polyphonic. They keystep pro is polyphonic however. But I did recently upgrade to the Elektron Digitakt - both as a sampler/drum machine + midi brain and I love it!
Great video! I have this same setup Have you figured out how to play the volcas with a midi keyboard? I can’t seem to get sound from them on separate channels.
thanks! Yes, I set each volca to a different midi channel. I believe you hold down the record button while turning them on to go to the midi setup. Once you select what midi channel, hit the play button and it should save it. Then you set your midi keyboard to whatever channel controls each volca
All 4 volcas are connected to the BSP via midi, however only 3 of them are being sequenced by it: Sample, Keys and Bass. Since the BSP sequencers are only monophonic, the FM is using its internal sequencer, but it still receives clock and start/stop data from the BSP
Thanks! I think the drum samples were pretty loud when I loaded them onto the Volca Sample - they got pretty crushed in the process, but I ended up liking it
Thanks! From what I remember, I used the unison mode with some detune on the Keys. Envelope no sustain, but with long decay/release. Envelope controlling both the amp and filter cutoff. I also used a chorus effect (digitech tsr-12) on the Keys to widen the bass. Hope that helps!
Not that I know of. It does have a roller/looper function that will loop anywhere from 1/4 to 1/32: thats what I used to get the stutter effect around 2:45
@@MouthTrumpetOrchestra gotcha. I really like the 'active step' function on the Volcas but yet to see a more powerful sequencer that has that option... hmm
For some reason, the roller/looper effect on the BSP gets stuck around 2:50 - not sure why. I was happy with the rest of the jam so I kept it.
That was awesome, man. Great track! The looping effect at 2:50 definitely adds to the track, even if it was a bug. It's unintended moments like these that make jams feel alive, imo!
Thank you!
Lol it actually sounds pretty cool, happy accident
They need to add that as a feature, actually. I would kill to have it on my BSP.
Yeah, that was super cool... totally. Like tripping down the stairs just to land perfectly and someone claps.
Man, I like this!!! Like an 80’s video game vibe (which I love)!
Excited for this
Yeah, this is some top-notch synthwave sounds man, very well done 👏👏👏
Freakin killed that shit
Synthwave sounds great on volca! The drop at 0:58 was epic!!
Thank you!
Is volca a synth? I thought it was just a sampler. I'm confused!
Love the Vbass solo and the returning! Great song!
Great to see the volcas and beatstep pro used together. Sick jam. More please.. Thanks.
This is so damn good
Beautiful, i 💘 jamming with volcas...
Keep on jamming positive vibes...
Nice,& memorial track , memories...
💛❤💚
Great Track
This is is AMAZING
Fantastic dude
Really clever use of volcas and BSP. Great job
Great Jam. Volcas are great when Sequenced. I'm doin this with a circuit though. Sucks in drum sequencing but i use other Drums anyway
woww love it!
Wow...really nice track....😀 🎶
Thanks!
Fantastic
Really good
Nice work! 🎧
amazing -> epic.
Just awesome! Brought me to buying a korg volca sample :)
Awesome 👍
Wow this sounds excellent.
Great jam! Just been getting a BSP and Volca beats and FM and got the keys and bass on the way. Looking forward to cooking some stuff up.
Thanks! Its a great combo. Have fun!
Was actually surprised, good job!
I’m blown away.
Thanks man!
Finally nice sounds. Some much clutter on youtube.
It inspires me to get it.
Thank You.
Amazing, great job!
Sounds great.. good job
so fire
Awesome work!
That was awesome! Well done
Thank you!
Really good, I love the sound.
Beat volca video ever!
Beauty setup! Nice music
Great job
Very Cool! Thank you!
Watched again. You are amazing. Best volca player on TH-cam.
Dude, thank you! Best might be a stretch, haha🤣
that that was really good. def best I've seen.
Thanks!
super cool!
This is great! Really liked it!
Thank you!

Gurtel Productions rapping would be awful. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮.
I dig it. Very well done.
Thanks!
Сильно...
SUPERB!
very nice
This was great man!! 😄🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thanks!
Well done 😊
he feel this
That was cool!
Tried!? This sounds awesome.
Thanks!
Nice Volca Jam! 😀
Thanks! Im glad you enjoyed it
I like the motif
Nice
Arturia beatstep expands the volca units alot.
amazing! i like it
its good
You succeeded ! :D
Ho yes !!! Great preset sounds choice, this is exactly the synth wave spirit ...Perfect moment !
Wow
véry impressed
Classic

Wow! what are you, Tangerine Dream? 👍 👍 👍
Do you mind explaining how you got 4 devices working with only 3 tracks on the Beatstep? Looking to get into a similar setup.
great work! sorry if this is stupid but what is the one on the top right?
very nice! and Keys has very good sound! how did you programmed it?
any effect added?
Thanks! I used the filter with some resonance controlled by the envelope. I also added a chorus effect to it
great jam! just a question: how do you connect keys+sample+fm+bass to the Beatstep? the Beatstep has 3 sequencer rights?
Yes. I use the midi solutions quadra thru to split the midi out. I use the internal sequencer of the FM, but it follows the clock of the BSP so it all stays in sync

@@substlesse I used the adapter included with the BSP to connect it via a regular midi cable to the quadra thru
You'll probably receive an offer from Korg to work as a Volca rep. ;o)
That would be incredible, haha
Are that stock drums of the volca sampler?
What is the name of track? Good intro.
How do you get your drums sounding so beefy? They sound so good lol
I googled "free synthwave drum sounds" and used some free samples!

@@MouthTrumpetOrchestra too bad it's not polyphonic, but with a keystep sequencing a volca + the BSP it could be a fun live setup!
@@defbones5597 Agreed!
Sounds very good but as usual no played melodies among youtubers? That will divide the proffesional musician from the amateur!
It is DAWless? How do you connect them? I have similar setup and hope to know how to connect the Volcas to BSP.
yes, I use the midi solutions quadra thru to split the midi out to each volca

The recording seems a bit hot, but that's perhaps on purpose?

too much noise on the bass sounded too harsh but the melody was certainly there good attempt

wow
Where are the sounds coming from?? How are you controlling the first sound from the Volca? I thought that was only for samples?
