I haven't had to deal with that before. But maybe you can pry the plastic ring off and then slip a bent wire (coat hanger) in the hole next to your broken knob and pull it up. Or you may have to remove the fabric off the back to see inside...
GREAT BUT how do I fold the seat down if the pull knob is missing? How to unlatch the seat to fold down to open the back to replace the missing release system? Mike
Good question, can you reach a needle nose or extended needle nose into the hole? Is the knob broken or missing? If its missing can you screw a new one in?
Really helpful- Two questions: 1) I’m washing the seat cushions on mine because of a spoiled milk smell and I’m noticing the passengers side seat back is attached to the frame because the seatbelt is threaded through-how would you best take that out? 2) the star washer you showed was missing on mine. How significant is that safety-wise? I’m super concerned as we’re driving kids around in it with car seats
The inverted star clip helps holds the bushings in place during assembly. It's not a safety concernbut be careful not to pinch the bushings in the shoulder when putting it back together.
Is this process as easy as you made it look on touring models that have heated rear seats and the quick drop button in the trunk to drop the back seats? I noticed there are some wires going into the upper seats so I’m guessing it’s more complex.
Excellent and clear in terms of: verbal communication and instructions, video and video angles, and pacing (not too fast or too slow). Thanks much!
Best instructions! Will never be able to remove mine without your help. Thank you so much.
Good calm and professional. Thanks

Very helpful ty
Excellent help
Super Dooper helpful! THANKS
Great video. Question: for me, the pull knob on the wider seat back is broken and can’t release. Know any way to unlatch it from the strike mechanism?

So the clips for the bottom seats aren’t there, the white plastic is there but not the clips, how do I proceed?

Can you remove just the bench seat and leave the seat back in?
You can but the seat back may fold different. With
out having the bottom to lean on.

I have not looked at that model so I could not tell you.
What year is this Forester? Thank you
2014, works on any 14-18 year model.
