Like it was an air pressure subway and it was fancy, all tiled up, had restaurants and shops down there. Can't remember why they closed it up, I think because the electric subway was coming and was cheaper? 🤷 I also looked into the line about the ghost train that passes through Winston. I think the information is inaccurate, but there was a train accident. Makes me think Dan wrote those lines. 😉😉
After this are Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. There are also two animated shows and multiple videogames. Viggo is played by one actor while dubbed over by Max Von Sydow. The car is called ECTO-1
Hello Jen!😊 The Ghostbusters means of travel is Echto-1. Yes, it was smart to take a break between films to appreciate this film more. "Ghostbusters" made $296 Million at the box office and "Ghostbusters II" made $215 Million. Yeah, "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" (2015) is technically considered Ghostbusters III. It is pretty good.
I sympathise with Egon about straightening a slinky. The first time I saw one come down the stairs, I thought it was a monster coming to eat me, so it got straightened! This doesn't match the first Ghostbusters for me, but it's more fun! Very underrated sequel. What are your favourite dog breeds Jen, if you were to get a puppy? The hair extensions look great!
Actually straightening a slinky is pretty impressive. You know, straightening it, not just pulling it to make it go sort of one direction. Taking a multiply-bent steel wire and actually making it straight again is hard enough but taking a - what is it like form-cast and hardened - spring steel coil wound multiple times wanting to hold that form and getting it to stay flat against a table top or a floor any which way you rotate it takes some talent.
@@davidlopes-dias641 - ah, a Pom-Pom! Easy to keep, and doesn't eat you out of house and home! I'm torn between adopting an ex-racing greyhound or a Saluki.
Afterlife and Frozen Empire are definitely worth watching. They were directed by Jason Reitman (son of Ivan, the late director of the first two as well as the mouthy kid during the birthday party scene) and are direct continuations of the film series that expand the lore.
So fun fact, the wiseass kid at the birthday party is Jason Reitman, son of the director, Ivan Reitman. Jason and Gil Kenan wrote & directed the two most recent Ghostbusters films.
You know the cartoon was like a bridge, or Ghostbusters 2 took inspiration from the cartoon, with the inclusion of Slimer and some themes I thought. I love both movies and the cartoon was great as a kid watching, the cast and adventures were super fun, and the toys. Thanks Jen! 😊❤️🙏🏽
I remember seeing this movie opening weekend with my parents, and have loved it ever since. And I literally just watched it a week ago with my dad. I think it’s funny how they edited out Ivan Reitman’s son calling the Ghostbusters frauds at the birthday party, but they left in his daughter playing with the puppy at Egon’s lab. 13:17 It’s always the quiet ones.
7:34 - The voice of Vigo was provided by Max von Sydow, who played the king who wanted his daughter back in Conan The Barbarian. However, many people know him best as Ming, The Merciless in Flash Gordon (1980). Which is absolutely REQUIRED viewing for any fan of 80s movies. 25:10 - "Well, better late than never." - Cheech Marin, one half of the Cheech and Chong comedy duo. 25:43 - "I am 100% blanking on the name of the Ghostbusters mobile. There's gotta be a name for it. I can not remember." - Ecto-1
The Ghostbusters car is "Ecto-1" The goop is made from the same stuff as Armus from "S.T.:T.N.G." The lady who got slimed in the restaurant us played by the actress who played the salesperson in "Back to the Future, Part II"
Fun Facts: 1) I met Bill Murray in person and had no idea it was him. It wasn’t until much later that I realized the guy I was talking to was Bill Murray. 2) The actor who played the main villain, Vigo, was very upset and emotionally hurt when he found out after the movie premiere that all his spoken lines had been removed and dubbed over by a voice actor. That hurt him so bad, he fell into depression and later ended up homeless until his death.
The actor that played Vigo was, very much, a horrible person in real life. His dad was a Nazi that worked a concentration camp. He had a step mother that he r@ped and his step sister may be the product of that act. He was a wrestler and boxer before acting and was unprofessional to the point that he was a risk to be in a match with. He got arrested dealing drugs to a cop. He got typecast with villain roles with acting which isn't terrible but it's not like he got the "complex" villain roles. Wasted his money on alcohol, drugs, women. He got cancer and he'd been so awful to anyone that was close to him that they basically said "well,... he's dying now... oh well." They even waited years to tell his living relatives back in Europe that he died because they thought it would be a relief for them to know he was already gone. Getting his dialogue dubbed over the least of this guys problems.
@@jessecortez9449 Oh wow. Oh yeah, I had briefly heard he was a guy with no personal boundaries, but I never really dug deeper into his background. Everything you described is actually typical male behavior in the eastern part of Europe, which is now rapidly fading into the past as the old ways are no longer acceptable. Back in those days, that type of behavior was actually encouraged as a way to be a 'real man'-rape, alcoholism, and being an a-hole to everyone.
I spent five seasons of Ally McBeal waiting… just waiting… for Biscuit to stand up in court and go, “Your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury… HE’S VIIIIIGO!!! THE RULER OF CARPATHIA!!! YOU ARE ALL LIKE ANTS TO HIM!!!” 😂

"The law does not recognize the existence of ghosts." Two years later, Stombovsky v. Ackley, in New York State civil court: "As a matter of law, the house is haunted." Granted, it was because the previous owners of a home had played up the idea that a house in Nyack, NY, was haunted but the fact remains that New York State law now recognizes a house in the state as being haunted, from a legal standpoint... and it's _not_ in Amityville on Long Island, which is what really shocks this former resident of Islip Terrace (about 20 minutes down the road from the Horror house).
About Bill Murray's Elephant Man mention - There was a great SNL skit with Murray and Steve Martin called "The Elephant Guy". Also, there was a brief flash of a movie billboard : Cannibal Girls, also directed by Ivan Reitman, and starring Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin, who were cast members of SCTV along with Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis and with Dan Aykroyd of Second City in Toronto.
The first movie was a big hit and then there was a cartoon series set after the first film that actually was incredibly successful... So they commissioned a second movie but the second movie ignored what happened in the cartoon as if it never happened. So after this movie came out they redid the cartoon to follow the events of the second movie!
Peter MacNicol is also great in Dragonslayer (1981) and really funny in Addams Family Values (1993) with Christine Baranski as Camp Chippewa counselors!
Ghost Buster 2016 was a reboot, because Harold Ramis (Egon Spengler) died in 2014, they try with an all female characters, but the chemistry wasn't there.
Had they made some other connection to the franchise using female characters it might have been ok, though I know Ackroyd did a cameo, but he probably needed the money for his distillery. The whole "girl power" marketing just cast it all in a bad light. The original is such a high bar any kind of reboot would be hard pressed to succeed, as it still holds up today effects wise and not too outdated culturally.
The reboots actually okay. You have to make allowances for the humour shift. But once it just becomes a superhero type movie, it's an alright time. Sucks that something's from the reboot will never return. If kate mccrimmon could show up in a future one with a proton gloves to help the guys, I'd be down for that...
@@Cheepchipsable So you didn't bother to watch it before making up your mind about the kind of movie it is. I'm not saying it's a good movie but did you bother to watch any of it or are you going off what other people said? I'm asking because it wasn't just Dan Aykroyd. Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts and Sigourney Weaver all made cameos in the 2016 movie.
I remember when this came out when I was a kid, it was a huge event since sequels really weren't that common in Hollywood. It scared the hell out of me, but I love it now. Btw, Jen, your hair has been looking amazing the past several videos!
Always great to see you wear your Froot Loops t-shirt. It blew me away that you were familiar with "Ally McBeal", sure didn't think you're not old enough to remember it. LOL IMHO, this was not as good as the first, but it is much better than most sequels of big hit movies, still a lot of fun. It was surprising to see 'Dana' with a baby, which at first thought it was 'Peter's', but finding she had married someone else definitely makes you wonder what happened. Bill Murray sure did look like he was having fun with baby 'Oscar' while filming.
😆🤣😂 I had this video running in the background and was just listening while i was working on something else. The scene where Janine was starting to make her moves on Louis came up. Jen was like: "Can he handle Janine?"..."Oh my!"...."Go for it, buddyyyyy SLIMED!!!" 😂😂😂😂😂
I love this one and never got the hate it gets. I also quote it all the time. "Beautiful" "No one listens to me." "Poisoned, stabbed, shot, hung, stretched, disembowled drawn and quartered" "Ouch" (I don't usually list the execution but it is memorized) "Death is but a door, time is but a window, I'll be back" (don't get to use it as much as I'd like). As a kid it was a movie I had memorized.
As a kid I was very frustrated by the fact that this movie ignored the Saturday morning cartoon (which had the ghostbusters resume their busting immediately after the first movie), but in retrospect that was understandable.
This was #7 at the box office for 1989. Very many people saw it. And the reason you didn't hear the theme for most of the film was because they were trying to push the single from Bobby Brown, "On Our Own", that was made for the movie. Bobby was fresh out of New Edition and later married Whitney Houston and... well, that went poorly for all involved. You can see him in a cameo just after the GB get out of the asylum.
Jen, I really loved your reaction to this one! I also think part 2 is underrated. Personally I have such great memories of it. Together with Batman it was my highlight that I watched in the theater in 89. Jen, you might want to look into the animated series that went from 1986-1991. In 1986, after seeing how well Ghostbusters was doing, the studio had DiC animation studio (which mad classics like Inspector Gadget, Heathcliff, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, etc) make an animated series of the movie. There was some noticable changes: Peter now looks like a GQ model. And is voice by Lorenzo Music, the OG Garfield. Egon has Ruby Rod's hair style. Ray looks like someone's dad, and voiced by Frank Welker. Winston loses the 'stache, and is voiced by Arsenio Hall. Slimer, the green ghost the boys captured in the first movie, now is part of the group. (though they give HIM more spot light in the later years of of the series...aka the studio pulled a Steve Urkel). The series was pretty good and quite scary, lots of stuff like Lovecraft, zombies, demonic possession was in it. The real is was called "The Real Ghostbusters" was because when the first movie came out, Filmation, a company that made many classic animated shows like Fat Albert and Masters of the Universe, in fact had their own series called "The Ghost Busters", which was a comedic series on 2 middle ages guys, and their gorilla side kick, solving mysteries and getting rid of ghosts, sued. That's why the movie was simply "Ghostbusters". And in '86, Filmation, seeing how ghost hunting seems to be popular, made their own animated series, "Ghost Busters", which focused on the sons of the 2 aforementioned middles aged guys, now retired, and the gorilla joined up with the sons. "The Real Ghoustbusters" was the title for the animated series based on the movie to differentiate. Both series are fine in their own ways. Jenn, be cool if you could react to the animated series, I don't think anyone else has, so far. Here is one episode of the animated series, one I liked a lot growing up: th-cam.com/video/bpuci75L-to/w-d-xo.html

I was excited since I loved the first one, but he was even more excited, which is why he was so disappointed when I chickened out and ran out the theater when Viggo came alive the first time in the museum. My cousin was cool about it, though. We went to the next room and saw Honey, I Shrunk The Kids inside. We still had a good time. I do love this movie, though.

After this are Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. There are also two animated shows and multiple videogames. Viggo is played by one actor while dubbed over by Max Von Sydow. The car is called ECTO-1
Afterlife was very good. I had mixed feelings about Frozen Empire though.
@@robbob5302 I feel the same way. I do have to say that Ghostbusters: The Videogame is my favorite follow-up to the first two films
You're forgetting the 2016 reboot with the female 'busters.
@@mtank30 what reboot?
I saw this in theatres in 1989 when I was eight. Loved it!!!!
That Wiinstoooon scared the bajezus out of me when I was a kid!
Jen reacting to ‘80’s flicks is the cutest shit ever lol 🫶🏼😅👻
I have seen on a few of Jen's videos, she has a pomeranian, which is also mine and my wife's favourite breed 😊
@@davidlopes-dias641 - ah, a Pom-Pom! Easy to keep, and doesn't eat you out of house and home! I'm torn between adopting an ex-racing greyhound or a Saluki.
@@blechtic - I was only little, it was the first project I really dedicated myself to. I was determined that it wouldn't be able to eat me...
Afterlife and Frozen Empire are definitely worth watching. They were directed by Jason Reitman (son of Ivan, the late director of the first two as well as the mouthy kid during the birthday party scene) and are direct continuations of the film series that expand the lore.
FROZEN EMPIRE was directed by Gil Keenan.
Please watch "Harry and the Hendersons" (1987). It's one of my favorite childhood movies.
Is a fine movie to watch with all the family 👍👍
It’s one of my favorite childhood movies as well, so I wholeheartedly endorse, and second, your recommendation.
I agree. Watched that classic at the pines drive-in Prince Albert Saskatchewan
Brilliant film!
The movie's reputation is hurt by the fact that Bill Murray very vocally says he hates it and hated making it.
People hated this movie, I never understood that and I bet now with the current trend in movies they have a new appreciation for this one.
Thanks Jen! 😊❤️🙏🏽
This is definitely underrated and is getting the love now! It hits all the right notes but different, which works and some fun period music to boot :)
“Who ah you going to cwool?”
Jen: That's the guy from Ally McBeal!
Me when Ally McBeal became a thing on TV: That's the guy from Ghostbusters 2.
Getting old is starting to suck.
EXTREMELY underrated sequel. I never understood why everyone hated on it.
Jen, you'd appreciate the horror-comedy House (1985). It would never win a poll, though. 😔 Most people haven't even heard of it. 😄
I love the 1985 House!!! 👏👏👏👏 Great movie!!! 👏👏👏👏
I know Von Sydow best as playing Jesus.
The Ghostbusters car is "Ecto-1"
The goop is made from the same stuff as Armus from "S.T.:T.N.G."
The lady who got slimed in the restaurant us played by the actress who played the salesperson in "Back to the Future, Part II"
I saw this in the theater, still get all emotional when they animate Lady Liberty. Great reaction Jen!
Fun Facts:
1) I met Bill Murray in person and had no idea it was him.
Are either of those really fun?
A really fun movie. Jen, react of the Movie Ghostbusters:Afterlife (2021) too,
Great new first time watching Ghostbusters 2. Jen. I equally enjoy this one as much as the original. :)
I spent five seasons of Ally McBeal waiting… just waiting… for Biscuit to stand up in court and go, “Your honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury… HE’S VIIIIIGO!!! THE RULER OF CARPATHIA!!! YOU ARE ALL LIKE ANTS TO HIM!!!” 😂
The subway scene and the voice “Wiiiiiinnnnnnnstoooooon” sacred the 💩 out of me as a kid, and probably for longer than it should have.
Fun fact, only in the comic adaptation of this movie, the statue of liberty was returned with the torch in the wrong hand.
My theory is that there was still residual energy from the portal being opened. That's why Vigo was able to get through.
I saw the patron at the end named there-is-no-gary-only-zuul and had to laugh.
5:56 "It was when you started introducing me as 'the old ball and chain.'"
"Yeah. I don't like that phrase either, really. I mean, I get it is a joke, but you could say 'This is my hot babe.'"
I once knew a guy who referred to his wife as "the old lady." The big joke was that she was twenty years (no exaggeration) his junior.
Yes, called irony, and is a can be a term of endearment in many areas.
Usually goes both ways.
Happy that you liked this one. I first saw this when my mother bought it on VHS in '89. I would have been five, close to six, and my sisters and I loved it but found it scarier than the original. I still think it a fun and underrated entry.
can remember seeing this at the cinema people said it was not good as the first one and poor but I loved it. the little kid at the kids party saying ghostbusters were full of s**t was the directors Ivan Reitman's son Jason, who went on to directed ghostbusters 3 afterlife
And it doesn’t help when your entire add campaign is focused around calling have you market sexists if they don’t like the film
@@shawnmiller4781 Doesn't help when the movie isn't that good, either
The guy with the accent is Peter McNicol who was in "Dragonslayer" 1981, & the "Chicago Hope" and "Ally McBeal" TV series.
Yep, I say 'hey that's the guy from Ally McBeal' in the reaction
@@jenmurrayxo You should react to "Dragonslayer"
My lowkey favourite joke in the film is when Venkman as Janosz where he's from and he says "upper west side".
I remember when this came out when I was a kid, it was a huge event since sequels really weren't that common in Hollywood. It scared the hell out of me, but I love it now.
Btw, Jen, your hair has been looking amazing the past several videos!
Every now and then I can’t help but throw out an “Eez Viggo!” in public.
😆🤣😂
I had this video running in the background and was just listening while i was working on something else.
The scene where Janine was starting to make her moves on Louis came up.
Jen was like: "Can he handle Janine?"..."Oh my!"...."Go for it, buddyyyyy SLIMED!!!"
😂😂😂😂😂
I love the Froot Loops t-shirt!
She just followed her nose!
This film was a lot of fun. I remember the hype around it!
As a kid I was very frustrated by the fact that this movie ignored the Saturday morning cartoon (which had the ghostbusters resume their busting immediately after the first movie), but in retrospect that was understandable.
Great thumbnail Jen. I think this movie is underrated too 🤘🏻🇺🇸
This was #7 at the box office for 1989.
Got all kinds of merchandise and the video games of these movies and the soundtracks of course.😎 It was great to remember all that and to enjoy your reaction! Thanks!
The vehicle is the ECTO-1..im upstate NY for 51yrs.. you see (a few actually)driving around once in awhile.. sirens lights n the whole bit😅...makes a great "alarm clock" notification 😄
There was some noticable changes:
Peter now looks like a GQ model.
Peter MacNicol the actor who played Janosz Poha in Ghostbusters 2 also voiced a couple of DC comic villains and they are Man-Bat and Chronos.

I was 5 when my big cousin took me to see this in the theater.
Hey, Jen Murray!👋🏾 It’s nice to see you and I how is Tara doing btw? I know you two have done reactions together and she has her own channel. Anyway I hope she is doing well! Much love❤
Fun Fact: When the car is pulling up to the restaurant at 18:07 you can see the plate number is Ecto 2. I believe these scenes were filmed earlier as the car was supposed to be Ecto-2.
'You're short, you smell funny, and you're a terrible burden on your poor mother...'
Something I've said to my kids more than once. Even bad movies have great quotes sometimes.
I really enjoyed this one when I watched it in cinema in 1989. Jeez, has it been that long?. Maybe not a big a classic like the first. But lots of memorable scenes. Some pretty scary stuff for a comedy. And a great soundtrack. I still got a soft spot for this one. And I really enjoy this line from it: "Mayor, it's a great pleasure to see you again, and you'll be happy to know that almost fifty percent of us voted for you in the last election."
Ecto-1 of course
I never understood why this film was so disliked by so many. I always loved it. It scared the crap out of me when I was little! The fur coat coming back to life? Nightmarish! And Peter MacNicol? Amazing!
22:54 Brian Doyle-Murray as the doctor.
24:50 Cannibal Girls was a 1973 film with Eugene Levy and Andrea Martin, directed by Ivan Reitman, who produced and directed the two Ghostbusters movies.
I don't think this film was nearly as good as the first one, but I'm always happy to watch one of your reactions, Jen, especially when it's of a movie starring your cousin Bill 😂
So the thing about old school photography, you could absolutely mis-mix the chemicals to cause a fire. Not that the science boys would be likely to make that type of mistake.
I've always liked this sequel. Saw it upon release as a child. It scared us, made us laugh, and the effects were a big upgrade from the original.
In Ghostbusters 1 the car was called Ecto-1, in Ghostbusters 2 it got upgraded and became Ecto-1A.
