Offshore Fishing w/ HOMEMADE Lures in Panama (CATCH & COOK BARRACUDA)

  • In this episode we're kayak and panga fishing an uninhabited coastline in remote southern Panama, 20 miles down the coast from Los Buzos Resort. We're catching giant roosterfish, Pacific sailfish, cubera snapper, yellowfin tuna and much more. Then I start throwing a homemade popper lure made out of a recycled 2x4, and the big fish are loving it! After that, we're cleaning the biggest barracuda I've ever seen here and giving it a shot in the kitchen.

    Hey Robert, Love your channel! I live in Arkansas in the Ouachita mountains. I fish a lot mainly saltwater in Florida and Louisiana. I introduced my parents to your channel and they Love it to and then they’re 80 years young. I started them with the Mississippi trips and they absolutely loved it. My Dad has hunted and fished his whole life and hoop net fished the Arkansas river and other local rivers and was very successful at it. One thing I and others wanted to know is how you did what you do? We hear all the time that people quit the corporate grind and decided to travel and pursue they’re passion, but most don’t ever share how they were able to do it! We’re you that successful in the corporate world,investments etc. ? Keep up what you’re doing, it’s awesome.

      I love Arkansas man, fished the White River this past fall. Incredible brown trout. I don't have a secret formula brother. But I quit the corporate grind with like 3 grand in the bank. Many ramen noodles lost their lives the first couple years, but I grinded until I start making money. Just takes persistence and a lot of hard work.

    Another awsome video sir... pretty sure that fish you were calling a needle fish is actually a hound fish and they get alot bigger. On some islands in the Pacific they actually make lures from spider webs and paddle troll for them to eat...

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, it is a houndfish and I'm always correcting the clients. But people on TH-cam don't know that so I just call them needlefish to keep it simple. But actually they're also called crocodile needlefish. It's the "regular" needlefish's big brother

    • @itsaboutTime2revolt
      @itsaboutTime2revolt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@YakFishField Hound fish, Needle fish...same same. I've also actually heard my Australian fishing brothers call them "Flats Marlin". Lol. I'm thinking it's because of the acrobatic shows they do a lot.
      The differing names is kind of a common occurrence...with so many fish species, referred to by different names all over the countries, continents, and the globe.
      For instance, my silly friends from Texas call any and every sunfish...a perch. Lol. Even though there's already a completely different species called a perch. Silly Texans! Lol. They definitely march to the beat of their own drum. They also call small bodies of water, "a tank", or "tanks"... instead of ponds, or small lakes.

      When you book a trip we asked for dietary restrictions. No problem. We do have people get seasick sometimes. We’ve found that taking Dramamine right before bed and again first thing when you wake up has a 100% success rate of preventing it, even for people who got sick the first day.

    That’s one big barracuda. When you killed It I thought you can’t be eating that due to sickness I was told about in the Caribbean islands when catching them. Then at the end you explained it. Pacific barracuda all good. How odd

      I work with TackleDirect so that'd probably be a conflict unfortunately. They make an exception for my little brother's lures.

      Since it looks like you fish the Atlantic, I think you're confused. These are not the same barracuda you catch in the Gulf or in Florida. Totally different fish
