    as a layperson, is it helpful to report estimated GCS on a 911 (or other first responder) call? Or does it not make much difference?

      As a medical student, I would say it is much better to describe the individual components e.g. how the patient is responding to you. GCS is oversimplified and it has specific uses, and so is likely to confuse everyone more than it would help. In describing the patient's condition, it gives clues to the diagnosis as well as the specific needs the patient has. Also, most medical professionals are not well versed in GCS! so just keep it simple :)
