It's been 30 plus years since i was in the EMS industry and this video is very, very good it breaks down and briefly explains what the EMT is doing and even at one point ? Pointed if you missed a step procedure then he suggests to go back a step and reasess the situtation . Very good video. If i was to become an EMT again? I certainly would use this as a good reference guide. Great work in this step by step video.
I just passed my medical and trauma assessments, it wasnt that bad. Make sure you memorize the steps really well. When they start throwing numbers and scenarios at you- you need to be prepared to act on them. You cannot be trying to remember what step you're on. That should come naturally.

Ou God simulation is killing me and am on my last week of my ECP-B so far my OSCE is okay. Than today am lucky that I come across this video I learned alot . Thank you .
I went to a Registry exam with a GSW. Most found the entrance wound almost every one failed to look for an exit wound coming out the back. The person that was acting as a dummy had a plastic wound attached to his chest AND his back. Strip the person....don't be afraid...and log roll and check the back.
I don’t understand why you didn’t demonstrate palpating the cervical spine and checking csms before securing a c collar, verbalizing If JVD or tracheal deviation was present, sternal step off. Listening to lung sounds anteriorly. Then posteriorly while rolling the pt. Plus checking for exit wounds Especially with a sucking chest gsw. And then checking quickly for deformities, tenderness, or crepitus along the thoracic and lumbar region before securing to a long board. I thought it would be a good idea to quickly verbalize if csf was leaking from the nose/ ears and if battle signs were present even during your chunk check. Since it’s a lot harder when they’re already strapped down.

@@GiggityCrabbityGiggity he is bleeding from his femoral artery, therefore u can assume hypotensive shock will ensue if u don't apply a tourniquet , yes people u can assume some situations but don't 'box' yourselves in a particular Dx , keep your mind open for possible other causes, if you see white powder on an unconscious person's face, u can start assuming drug overdose but u leave your mind open to possible pesticide poisoning as well
If the proctor asks for GCS for a mannequin, do you just assume 3, or ask specifically about eye opening, verbal and motor responses to calculate a score?
based on the patient being unresponsive in this scenario, you would have no eye movement, verbal response, or motor response so they would have a GCS of 3

I'm enrolled in accelerated EMT BLS course and the instructor is passive aggressive and has students tense; hard to study and or keep up. Rush rush rush & money money money is all they're about. i.e. When a question is asked, by whomever, there is an immediate doubt/ belittling comment by instructor regarding question, before asked, pertaining to skills/ physiology, toward student who asks question, is incompetent and has not studied. Students self depreciating all the time; self doubt; etc.

Oddly so much has changed in 4yrs; first-time NREMT civilian, second-time NREMT/ 68W Combat Medic TCCC via Military, third-time NREMT civilian University of MD Volunteer Fire Squad; Now in Cali this will (if I graduate) will be my forth-time successfully earning NREMT.
Right on! The TCCC/TECC and 68W materials are much more trauma heavy. Sounds like you have a good background, just have to freshen up a bit. Lots of changes to medical related stuff and some CPR changes. Once you he the streets the game is played the same. Lived out in LA myself for sometime. I can only imagine how it is running ems. If they respond to pain stimuli but you suspect a brain injury you would try an OPA. If the patient does not tolerate it immediately pull it out. Do NOT try a NPA because it can cause further brain damage. You will have to hold the airway open manually.
I'm confused, are you supposed to load the patient up onto the stretcher and into the ambulance going on your way to the hospital after the ABC? and then in the ambulance do the 2nd assessment? Or do you still stay where you're at to finish 2nd assessment because that's when you put them on a spinal board. Also do both 1st and 2nd assessment need to be done under 10 minutes? Or just the primary with the ABC's?
