Who still comes back to this absolute masterpiece of a song?. Year 2021 The lyrics, The vocalist, The bass guitar, The guitars , the Drumming . The visuals, the fuckin feels, man.
2024 and still fat as fuck Really believe you guys had some special shit going on. Unique sound, great production, distinct performances by each member. No generic ass chugs or ultra-tempo'd wank. Truly a rare effort in heavy music.
It's clear Jerry Grannan was the genius behind this song. He did the atmospherics and also much of the guitar writing, when he left they never reached this same pinnacle. I can't express just how amazing this song is.
i love how Ambient and open-ended the first 3minutes of the track are, you almost lose focus and drift off into a beautiful sea of metal heaviness. then around 3min in, it picks up the pace with an incredibly dark and aggressive tempo, yet keeps it's hypnotizing quality. what am i talking about? God dammit, this band makes me love metal more each and every day. \m/ rock on Aegaeon. Rock on .
Yeah. Aegaeon's old stuff was great. And the album Dissension was great to put on full stream because it all flowed, but the songs kind of sounded similar and kept the same tempo. But THIS. This is a MASSIVE change. It's much more progressive and more technical. Good job Aegaeon!
Listenning this song since 3 years, anyone will be able to do a song like this ... Really hope i’m wrong. So much inventivity, drums insane, ambiance who make me shiver, guitars perfect, voice heavy, visuals perfect, the respiratory diver sound when you close your eye, where are the mistakes ? I will come back again and again to hear probably one of the or maybe the best death technical / atmospheric death metal music ever made.
That's just my feelings about this song, each time i come back to this song, it's always the same : Why this song so underated ? How is it possible to do a song which fit perfectly with the video ? And where could i find some song with this high atmospheric part?
This is by far one of the best songs I have ever heard. I listen to nonstop death metal and deathcore and no one has came close to touching you guys. Been a fan since dimensions. Thought that album couldn't touch anything else, but THIS BLEW MY MIND!
The way they progressively texture and build this song with the passages and the unusual depth of the structure.. ahhh artists this is definition of art
Dude, i remember when this came out. I was a fan since late 2012 thanks to Dimensions of Reality, and was stoked when they dropped this song, blew my mind like no other stuff at the time. Also downloaded it to my iPod and heard this song in mid class on my high school days haha. Still is one of the best atmospheric pieces in the genre to this day. Even Age was another different experience, which I really liked a lot. Hands down to Aegaeon, underrated band ever.
Terryn Mock think about the metal factor of it. if he sounds good and brutal. who gives a fuck? I can get down to anything as long they know what theyre doing
I think they need highs because the lows alone begin to sound monotone due to the fact that there isn't anything to contrast it. I mean shit even some mids would be great. It's just annoying to see a vocalist do one specific kind of vocals. Still an amazing band though.
For all its heaviness, this song has that wonderful atmospheric undercurrent running underneath it. Parts like 5:50 really give this an edge over the vast majority of heavy shit around today. Plus the amount of absolutely boss solos is to be credited. AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY HEAR THE BASS. That's a rarity in death metal production these days, it's a good thing because this guy sure can SLAPPA DE BASS MON.
So I dont know if any of you have seen aegaeon live but, Julian is a perfect fit for this band, strong vocals, amazing stage presence, and probably one of the coolest guys iv ever met. I guess haters just like to hate.
I’ve always been curious how Norman Leto did the visual sequences in this video. It looks like nothing I’ve ever seen before and it’s stunning. If anyone knows of some references for me to look into please let me know
God I wish there was a full album of this sound....I've still never heard anything that achieves what this song achieves. I feel like I'm standing at the edge of a calm ocean yet somehow waves are still crashing into me at the same time. Every time I revisit this video it's bittersweet.
Age is definitely really good, and definitely sounds like an Aegaeon creation but in my opinion is missing the signature sound that Jerry added with his atmospheric compositions. "Void" and "Metamorphosis" are the only 2 tracks on there that have a sliver of that atmosphere, and consequently are the only ones that continue to give me goosebumps upon each listen. "Neural Union" is just goosebump insanity. It happens to be Anthony Barone's magnum opus before he left as well.... the technical complexity of the drum parts is unreal. I feel you, an album of just this kind of sound would be incredible.
veil of maya scratched a similar itch on ID, nothing anywhere near the technicality and masterful rhythm manipulation going on here though. this is more progressive than actual progressive bands get, people can shit on deathcore all they want it's still fuckin FRESSH
Fuck, I can't wrap my head around 1:24, how do you even make a squealie sound like that?! their music is so hauntingly beautiful and crushing at the same time, it's like being sung to sleep before dropping a 50 ton anvil on my head. 11/10.
one of the most well written songs musically hard to beat this. these guys poured there souls into this fine masterpiece. its timeless. and sadly im not surprised that it only has this amount of views insted of 150 million like all these new groups w no talent
The amount of times I forget this masterpiece and always end up finding it again. The atmosphere and lead work is unreal reminds me the contortionist oscillator just huge.
we just played with these dudes in August, and believe you me, they are not boring live at all!!! VERY HEAVY, and definitely will keep you non stop Head banging and moshing!
I went to school with Julian. The dude can sing and shred the shit out of a guitar. I'm happy for him with all his success and hope for nothing kick-ass metal in the future.
I really hope once they release another full length, that they at least have this song on the album and make the album as lengthy, as technical, and as atmospheric as this song. I'm not even tired of this song after over a year, but I want mooooooooore.
I second that for sure. I really hope they can put out a new album soon. I still listen to this song pretty regularly. Get some merchandise off their website to help fund them, people! And of course buy their music.
Jordan and tate- was just on big cartel not long ago and got 2 albums and a shirt and email to check on the order dood from the band emailed me back said thay are in the studio creating another album

8 1/2 minutes of "Where the fuck am I?" This masterpiece just pulls you right into a void that you don't want to get out of. Can't wait for the album. Julian is a monster and the instruments are just a step up. Great work guys.
This is really good, dudes. Beautiful riffs, great musicianship, powerful vocals and thoughtful lyrics. The whole package. I like the mix too, the way the vocals are a bit "underneath" so that you can clearly hear the guitar work going on. Great work, for real.
If the whole album is like that ,itll probably be my favorite album ever. This song alone makes me feel that time is distorting.A whole album like that will seem like a lifetime, probably a very beatiful one.
Powerful song! Nice breaks, awesome melody in some parts, great riffs and drums, nice progressive touch... 5:50 ~ 8:10 Man, that was unique! More like this please!
I still maintain that this is the greatest composition of atmospheric metal ever created (and by the way, I don't get too concerned with exact genre specification). There is nothing that sounds like this song, and I don't think anything will for a long time. I would be happy to play this at my funeral but most people wouldn't appreciate it anywhere near the same level as I do........ which is too bad.
Obviously this whole song is incredible but 1:15 to 1:32 has been one of the most epic things I've experienced in metal since I started listening to it.
I honestly think that the "monotone" style of his vocals drive home the overall vibe of the song way more than if there was range. Overall, throughout the song, except for in very specific parts, there's a constant droning chugging that's just going along with the double bass, and there's this ambient sound going on in the background except for during solos and what not. I think the monotone vibe of the endless chugging, and growling just conveys this kind of solemn/pensive atmosphere. It's not meant to be crazy or demonic, it's very introspective. I love the vocals in this song. This song is just a masterpiece period.
Almost like how the vocalist of Fallujah is mostly monotone. Every once in a while he breaks out of it, but for the most part, very monotone. Didn't like the style at first, but at this point it's very much grown on me.
These guys have been the most interesting development in music in our area in decades . I am not a fan of death core , or death metal in general . But these players are somthing entirely different . I've been listening to this song since it came out. Now I'm here in 2022
2022 still here
Literally. They'll never make anything like this again, especially the first to mid part of the song.
This song was released 9 years ago and still feels as fresh, heavy and creative as anything out today.
Fucking underrated.
this not a song, it's an experience
i realize it is kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good place to stream newly released tv shows online?
@Harley Jordan I would suggest Flixzone. Just google for it =)
