    Lyrics:
Faraway from that life so young
that's when you used to know
Many dreams since then you've had,
have come and gone that might show
But stress don't you let it
    Don't you forget,
trust you'll find your way to love
hope is what your heart is made of
    And don't you forget it
don't you forget your way home
    For that little girl
    Hold on to your world
    you're worlds apart
From first where life would start
understanding what it means to have got
nothing but your heavy broken heart
the memory of what used to be
    with change comes responsibility

This was the Neo-Soul era of the late 90s-early 2000’s. Glen Lewis, Dwele, and others. So smooth and melodic. And the love songs had a deeper meaning. Loved this type of music and shame that these artists didn’t get more shine. You can listen to this 20 years later and it still sounds fresh and better than anything they play on the radio today. Growing up being able to experience the music of the late 80’s-early 2000’s was a gift from God. They don’t make music like they used to back then.

unfortunately it didn't sell (not like winehouse or adele, lol smh) but it never disappeared! i'm here, you're here and countless others still listen to it. at that time, r&b needed an injection of soul. tony rich & d'angelo kicked it off in 1995-96. and the music was the best of the past & present, minus the stupidity & misogyny. and it was NEW music!!!! keyboards, REAL... bass, REAL playing!!! neo-soul will never die!!!!!!
*side note: musiq's album, soulstar, was one of the best of the last! if you haven't listened to it, do..., it's a banger!!!**

There were a lot of really good RnB artists and songs during the 90's and early 2k's. I think autotune came along and a lot of less gifted singers over used it. It was hot for a while, but when it faded it exposed the not so talented. By then guys like Glenn, Musiq and others got older and RnB was less popular to the younger generation. If you're as old as me (48) 70's and 80's kids grew up on RnB and made 90's and early 2k's RnB. We heard RnB in the clubs in that era. Kids these days aren't hearing that now in clubs. There used to be a wide range of black music on your favorite radio station then. Now it's mainly all hip hop. A genre I also grew up on but I appreciated both. I got a little long winded but that's only my opinion. I was young, in the air force, in Georgia 93-2000. It was a beautiful time to be in and see Atlanta becoming what it is. I got to this song through Jimmy Cozier She's all I Got mix. Great RnB TH-cam mix.

The Neo Soul music era was full of talented artist/writers who sang with such raw emotion and I miss it!! Today’s R&B is definitely not the same. As a bassist/keyboardist, this era, especially since this was considered the new Philly sound, Neo Soul, this was my prime era. Philly was Poppin. Had the luxury of playing in backing bands for Glenn Lewis, Jill Scott, Floetry, Bilal, Donnie (not Donnie Hathaway for those who don't know), Kindred The Family Soul, Jimmy Cozier, and a few others.
For a young black man who was a musician that loved chord progressions and theory, this era was pinnacle.

After watching them perform as the main event as I went back to the room, my wife and I saw them at the elevator and complimented them on their music. I miss Neo Soul and real soul and R&B too. Classy music. Mint Condition, Musiq Soulchild, Donell Jones. Much better than that crap like Future, Lil Pump, Lil Baby, Migos, Quavo, Lil Wayne and Drake that dominate African-American charts nowadays.

When I realized it was by this young, up-and -coming Canadian R&B singer, I ran out and bought the CD. I was not disappointed, as all of the tracks on the album are well written and inspired. I wonder why Glenn Lewis didn’t make it even bigger, as he seems to have fallen off the fast track.

I heard this song when I was with my ex. We was riding in the car together. It was an emotionally abusive relationship. I was so hurt and broken. The lyrics moved me. They really speak to me today. God knows I needed to hear this. That's why I love Him so much. He never gives up on us, and He is always trying to show Himself to us. Even when we are so far away from Him.

This song became my life anchor when I was on my way to the hospital to give birth to my daughter. I was anxious and afraid, and the lyrics took me to a place of peace. Years later, I met Glenn Lewis at The Apollo, and I got to share my story with him. He was touched, and he autographed a pic for my little girl. This song continues to speak to me to this day.

I really appreciate all the hard hitters and brilliant minds, from the producers and videographers of this video and the genius who wrote the song! I just love it! The lyrics are empowering, encouraging, uplifting and down right amazing! It speaks nothing of a woman needing a man to be complete and handle her biz and reminding her that “YES SHE CAN”! Glenn Lewis your voice is out of this world and you fine as all get out! Thank you all for creating this song 22 years ago, it’s golden! Every time I play it sounds brand new ❤❤❤❤❤❤

However, I'm now seeing that if guys like Glen Lewis truly musically talented with a gift like music, you honestly wouldn't want to be famous like most of the mainstream artist who came, saw and got conquered by the music industry. I rather see him be more happy with his gift then him being famous.

Believe it or not Glen Lewis was project. He was amazing and should've gotten a signing deal with the record company. But, NEO SOUL wasn't the main focus in the music industry. So he was a project. Just like a lot of those one hit wonders in the NEO SOUL AND R&B category. Names like Tony Rich, Craig David, Mystic, Jerzee Monet the list goes on. But all them artists was projects for record companies. That means they give them $800,000 to do they thang and put out a album. Your one hit strikes the billboard you get a million to atlease 3 million. But they also release you with YOUR MASTER COPY and when your song gets played on radios and feature on soundtrack you get 25% while the label gets 75% or it depends on how much they agree with you on. PRIME EXAMPLE LOOK AT BAD BOY RECORDS. That's what happened to DA BAND, DIRTY MONEY, CARL THOMAS, LOON, CRAIG MAC, DIANTY KANE, YOUNG JOC ESPECIALLY. YOUNG JOC was a project for the SOUTH. Remember at one time the DIRTY SOUTH was taking over in the rap and JOC was DIDDY'S new project for the south. BAD BOY SOUTH. JOC got screwed so bad that he stooped to LOVE AND HIP HOP.

Please don’t you ever forget how happy we were together. Don’t you ever forget how much I always told you I loved you everyday. Don’t forget the deep talks we had about our future. I think of you everyday Clarissa. It still hurts but we have to move forward. I tried and tried but everything just didn’t work. So I gotta let go forever which hurts more than anything. This feels like a dream. This is a new beginning for the both of us. I love you to death wifey. You mean the world to me as I grab you and pull you close and look you in your eyes every time. Don’t you ever forget it. I love you. Take care wifey. 💔
