Malefic deck? Interesting! And in rankeds!? Awesome indeed!!! I always thought it was just an anime archetype. Placing it in the place of meme decks or even worse... I don't want to sound picky but vaguely reminiscent. Didn't Malefic have a "more powerful" boss monster? Sure at least what yet isn't released in Master Duel or worthy/playable. Anyways! Malefic BEWD is really bad but it can be an allure of darkness target, a way for parallel gear to get into lvl 10 Synchros, and can be summoned by banishing Paradox gear from the GY. It's definitely not an ideal choice but Malefic is pretty short on playable monsters. Malefic Red Eyes could be run in the same spot to enable lvl9 synchros, but is otherwise exactly the same as Blue-eyes. The deck can definitely function without it.
Yup, same for the raidraptor falcon or full armor master blackwing, they need to touch the floor to activate their "unaffected" property, if skill drain was on the floor before they reach it, they get drained and become normal monster like any other, but monster that have effect of tributing themselve leave the floor and so are no longer drained and can play their effect through skill drain if they don't get called by the grave.
What confuses me in these videos is no matter how bad or inconsistent the deck is, I dont think I've ever seen anything below 3 stars out of 5 for competitive lol. Anything that takes 13 turns to beat a Ra deck WHILE Skill Drain is up is clearly a trash tier deck xD.
He has had 2 star comp decks -- Ra is one, in fact. And I think Ojamas hit that 2 star as well, but I haven't seen a one star yet. He said that lower than 3 is for gimmick decks like burn and "only otk" decks.
