Yay🎉🎉🎉it's time! It's always fun to see someone else so excited about these flowers. I got alpenglow and precious metals from floret on top of my usual faves and I can't wait to watch them grow ❤❤❤
I think you are going to have another beautiful garden this year. I really love that you showing the world that you do not need an huge yard to have a beautiful cottage garden. I live in the suburbs we have a small backyard, the majority of my flowers and veggies are planted in pots and they have done well. My favorite pot last year had Vermillionaire and Rockin Blue Salvia from Proven Winners not for the flowers, but because hummingbirds loved it and they literally moved into my backyard.
From another zinnia fan, thank you! I started a few of the same ones you're starting! Can you share in a future video your method for spacing in containers? I don't want to overcrowd things but I like a full look!
Omg it’s so hard not to overcrowd 🤣 I usually shave off about 2 inches of what’s recommended. I am going to try to give zinnias more space this year to see if that helps with powdery mildew
This was so fun to watch!☺️ I just sowed my zinnia seeds too and very much looking forward to transplanting them all outdoors in May. I went ahead and ordered a Queeny Lime mix that hopefully comes this week! I think they’ll look amazing in your center raised bed🌼.
Hi! How are you planning to put them in grow bags? Are you direct sowing a bunch and then thinning to one main plant? And are you using the 7 gal ones you used for dahlias?
Hi There, Thanks for your video. I too bought 2 packets each of a few zinnia variety but am a bit confused on whether to sow all in ground or half in pots and half in ground later in May. I do not lack space but I know that I have only few months in zone 5 B. Also I heard that Zinnia do not transplant well . Any advice from experts will be highly appreciated.
I’ve always transplanted the majority of my zinnias and they’ve done fine! I think half in pots and half in the ground would be a fun experiment to see how they do.
@@ChicagoGardenerone very basic question, should the zinnia seed tray need to be kept away of direct sun until seeds germinate or it’s good to have them under direct sun . Now that the weather is getting warmer and sunny I am placing my seed pots directly outside in sun . Is that going to adversely affect germination ?
Hi! How often do you water your seeds after planting? I'm starting seeds inside for the first time with the Jiffy Peat pellets. I'm just putting mine in a sunny window...hoping that will be okay. Thank you so much for your videos:)
I usually don’t have to water after the initial soak to plump up the pellets until after the dome is off. For new seedlings right now I’m doing every 3 days but for the seedlings I started a few weeks ago the larger ones are every day. It depends though, so I just check for when the pellet feels almost dry.

Sounds great
You can never have too many zinnias lol! This year I'm growing the State Fair Mix and Queen Lime Orange!
I agree!!
Have you started carrots? I have 3 weeks ago. I have hundreds of sprouts coming out in the raised bed covered.
Hi! How are you planning to put them in grow bags? Are you direct sowing a bunch and then thinning to one main plant? And are you using the 7 gal ones you used for dahlias?
I’m going to grow the giant zinnias in the 7 gallon bags, one plant per bag! Those I started inside and will transplant.

How many Zinnia's do you wait to sprout before you take the humidity dome off?
I’d say maybe about 1/3 to 1/2 unless some are starting to get leggy.
