There are several factors to consider when choosing a flooring solution for areas exposed to high foot traffic and the movement of heavy objects. One should consider these factors in order to select the best option and avoid future repairs and expenses.
1. Traffic and Load Capacity
An epoxy floor is recommended for areas exposed to high foot traffic and the movement of heavy machinery and equipment. On the other hand, tiles tend to break under such conditions.
2. Areas of Application
A floor coating epoxy is highly recommended for warehouses, garages, showrooms, storerooms, manufacturing plants, and other areas with similar functions. Tiled flooring, on the other hand, should not be used in these areas.
3. Properties
The flooring material should possess abrasion resistance and high compressive strength in order to withstand heavy traffic and loads. For this, and epoxy flooring is much more recommended compared to tiles

I would like to DIY my granolithic floor. It is 45 years old and yellow but still smooth. Do I have to sand it first before applying the primer? I saw your video but can you list down the proper steps? What chemicals do I need to achieve a smooth finish? Finally, if I do not want a smooth finish, can I apply flakes to achieve a a false granolithic finish?
Before you apply epoxy floor paint better to sand it to remove previous sealer for possible chemical reaction and for better adhesion. You can use Epocoat MB for moisture barrier primer and Epocoat FCH with your desired color then topcoat with Epocoat FCH Clear added with flakes to achieve a false granolithic floor.

What is the difference of Epocoat FCH (light gray) and Epocoat FC (dark gray)?
Hi thank you for your inquiry. Epocoat FC is an epoxy-based floor coating. It is used for low to medium traffic. While Epocoat FCH is a self-leveling epoxy floor coating with excellent resistance to oil, solvents, alkalis and most acids, It is best used in medium to heavy traffic.

You have to smoothen out your flooring first prior to the application of Epocoat MB and FC. Epocoat will only follow the form of your flooring.

What is the specific product po for the outdoor Garage?
For outdoor garage you use Polycoat Flex. Polycoat flex is made of polyurethane rubberized coating. Its film is flexible and can withstand vibration or movements. It is UV resistant that is why it is good for exterior application such as outdoor basketball courts and the likes. It is also not slippery even when wet. It has excellent scratch and abrasion resistant and can last longer than chlorinated rubberized flooring.

There are many pros to vinyl flooring, one being it has 100% waterproof surface, but there are also a few cons you may want to consider depending on your needs. Some of the cons are:
1. Difficult to remove if glued down
2. Can be punctured with very sharp objects
3. Some vinyls can dent with heavy objects on top of them
4. Not biodegradable
5. Can show fading and discoloration with excessive UV exposure.
The quality of the rubberized floor coating will depends on what brand and method of application you are using. We recommend Buildrite's Polycoat Flex. You can use Epocoat TW as your primer then Polycoat Flex as your top coat instead, but first you have to check if your tiles and grout are still intact and not debonded prior to its application.
