I really appreciate both of you, as someone who is mentally disabled, it makes me so happy to see two people who are mentally disabled doing well in life and finding a way to be happy. Appreciate you.
Thank you for the reaction (the young lady has a beautiful smile). Love the song; really pushes the boundaries of a typical song in the genre. So colorful.
Great reaction guys, this is one of my favorites off their new album "Epic Narratives" that released on Sept.26th of this year. The other standout song off the album is "The One" - all the new songs are posted on their YT channel in the "Releases" tab. Thanks for reacting to Band-Maid - you're helping spread the word about this wonderful band.
Great react! So interesting about this - lyrics are done by Saiki, not Miku. Saiki explained she was reading about the history of story telling and songs. And she learned about how some cultures had banned stories and songs, and made them forbidden, but now historians and scientists can help discover those and bring them to light. So this song is about learning about them later on, and being enriched by them, and in the process connecting with the artists from long past, and that gives them their due. That's the hands there - the shadow meeting the human - we found you, your art mattered! At the same time - that later breakdown, is them saying - they will be there, 'singing for hundreds of years', for anyone in the future that needs to hear them. And that they can only do that with their fans - that second 'let me hear your voice', and then you get the crowd noise. It's such a beautiful and powerful sentiment throughout. And Saiki hasn't been writing lyrics long - only since Hate?, so this is pretty amazing stuff! (I believe the jazz part is the story being told, from the past) On top of the cool lyrics, the music was composed ofc by Kanami, who had lost someone close to her when she was writing it, so she originally was thinking 'what is it to live, what is existence', and then Saiki brought her idea about people's long lost forbidden tales - and they saw how well it matched up. And it so did.
I had read that Kanami had lost someone "important" in her life when she was putting this song together. So, I took the hand shadow part as someone, who is reaching out to somebody who isn't there anymore.
The songs already released earlier in the year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. But I already love Forbidden Tale, and especially The One. 😉🤘 btw - We should all wish a "Good Luck" to Band-Maid's new self-run management company: Maidit, Co., LTD! Will they managing other bands, boost Cluppo and Maiko projects, or tour more internationally? Or maybe they will expand their business interest to other sectors of the music biz outside of Band-Maid. I believe Kanami wants to get more into composing, scoring and production. And as for Miku and Saiki, the sky's the limit for what they'll want to do in merch, fashion and art, etc.. Thx, Dave & Ash!
Nice reaction guys) Just so you know, the subtitles are not TH-cam - they are specifically created and affirmed by the band. Therefore it is the most accurate translation of their creative work and the performance of that work. Band Maid has you covered! 🎴
The English translations are accurate. For example, where you stopped the video, the lines, "Even if you are alone in the dark, Because I alway call your name here, When this voice turns to light, hold my hand" is an accurate, word-for-word translation of, "Tatoe kurai yami de hitori ni nattemo, itusmo koko de namae o yobu kara, Kono koe ga hikari ni kaeru koro, te o tsunaide." , If the English translations sound funny, it's usually because the Japanese langue is often used in ways that are difficult to comprehend in other languages. Japanese also includes many idiomatic expressions, similar to English, where the meaning extends beyond the actual words used. Often accurate translation requires two or three additional passes beyond the literaal translation to turn into a natural English expression, and fitting a translation into the flow of the song provides additional challenges. So,although BAND-MAID's lyric translations are accurate, there are cases where I might choose different words or phrases to more effectively/concisely express a meaning/sentiment in the manner of a native English speaker. The screachy guitar notes are part of KANAMI's signature style.
Nice reaction to this song.....my favourite moment is the break in the middle of the song right after the lyric "Let me hear your voice" I guarantee that the fans in a live concert will ROAR in response to that lyric! Thanks, keep going thru their catalogue of music its will worth the listen...Regards, Peace & Respect from Canada!
The music was written as a what is life, what does it all mean? As Kanami I think was pondering on a recently passed relative. The lyrics by mostly Saiki on this occasion. Were written without any idea what was going through Kanami's mind. But they do strangely come together. There are so many ideas and you can put your own meaning to the song. But it is a very nicely put together , multiple musical changes and atmospheres to the song. A song with depth as really few can do as well as Band Maid.
Great reaction and thank you for coming back to the Maids, Master Dave and Princess Ash. Perfecting timing, with their newly released album "Epic Narratives". And epic is the is a fantastic description for this album and this particular song. As for the subtitles. For me, I usually don't look at the lyrics on the first run through and just marvel at the sounds, vocals and instrumentals. Then I'll go back to listen to it again and pick up on the lyrics. That's just me though...and I can understand people wanting to hear it while understanding what the song is about. Continue to rock with the Maids. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘

Great reaction guys to a fantastic song. When Saiki sings "I hold you tight ......." I get a shiver and my eyes get a bit more moist

Typical Band-Maid. Because you don't have any idea where they're going. I love it.
No guitar solo- Trust Kanami, she knows what she is doing. Jazz/prog?
Great reaction both of you, thanks! Can't wait to see your next Band-Maid reaction!
