  • Step by Step share with you how to crimp one LAN Ethernet cable split to two and sharing with two laptop system.
These only apply to cat5 and cat5e LAN Ethernet network cable only.
Actually cat5 and cat5e network cable just used 4 wires only. (Transmit+, Transmit-, Receive+ and Receive-) just using crimping tools crimp 4 wires only to RJ45 connector.
    This Idea is good:-
    1. Save Money for wiring many Ethernet cables in the house or office.
    2. Use these method to repair your existing broken LAN Cable, rather than re-wire whole cable.
    3. Less Wiring environment look more neatly.

Good Question. The usage mostly for Office use, especially for long distance cable. they can save cost rather than laying two CAT5E cables they just laying one LAN cable for two computers. It is no points for short distance cable. Another usage is that the existing cable found that one or two CAT5E internal wire broken. IT guys can fix it without re-laying the new CAT5E cable. Hope that answer your question.

I had the same idea. Had a lan cable insalled long time ago inside the floor travesing a hallway and cemented over and with granite tiles. There are no good wall routings possible as the hallway extends quite far. Now insted of carving walls and ceiling or granite tiles to install a second cable, I've repurposed the old cable packing two connections on the same 8wire cable.

Same scheme to make two female wall jacks from one cable? So I don't have to run two cables to connect smart tv and Firestick. When hardwired my transmission speed to my laptop is over 300 mbps. Speed will not be affected?

    • @AndrewSME

Because cat6 for 1 GPS speed need 8 wires.
unless you just want to run 100mps speed. 4 wires will do.

I live in the basement, and have run 1 cable from the router upstairs, and it goes to a wallpluck with ethernet output. The wallpluck has to ethernet holes, but only 1 works because the cable goes to that one. With your method, can I split one end into 2, but leave the other end as it is, without splitting up that end?

    • @AndrewSME
      @AndrewSME  4 ปีที่แล้ว

You also must split up at the other end. If your basement only got 1 Ethernet hole. and you don't to split, Another alternative is , you can buy another 5 Ports Switch hub for your basement. then you got 4 Ethernet port to use. Thanks for watching. 💗

@@AndrewSME okay Thank you, I do have a switch, but it can only run 100/100 and my internet is 1000/100
So it would have been a cheaper solution for me to just split the cable in two, and the 1 of the cable direkt to my pc so I can download with 1000 mps :D
And yea I need to but the tool you have for the ethernet headers :D

    • @AndrewSME

@@milichris1393 WAIT ! Split Ethernet Cable to Two is for Cat5e (10/100) only. Cat5e just needs 4 wires only to running 100 mbps. But Cat6 is 1000 mbps need 8 wires. Once you split it. you are running 100 mbps only. If you want 1000 mbps then you got no choice to buy gigabit switch hub.

@@AndrewSME No cat 6 can run 10 gigabyt, and 5 e can run 1000mps/1 gigabyt
So I should be able to split up my 5e, when it is only using 4 out of 8 wires, and still achieve 1000 mps?
