Thanks for the real talk about so many boots. I can barely afford a single pair, so I need to be as informed as possible when I make a purchase. So many "review" videos are sales pitches in disguise; or the reviewer doesn't really know the products. 👍

German army surplus, if available but a few years ago around £20-30. For last few years Altberg made in Yorkshire. Lace ups. For summer riding British made genuine army desert boots, suede. Acquired while working, in middle east, ammunition boot style.
The Rokker Urban Racers have been the best boots for me by far. I had some TCX Heros that I liked, looked cool and were super comfy but the waterproof membrane made my feet sweat too much. The Rokkers have no waterproof membrane but with some leather wax they don't let a drop of rain in. And they get comfier with age. Great film again and love how you're mixing up your content.
I was lucky with my boots! About a year ago I found some TCX Rook boots that were reduced because they were discontinued. Reduced from around £165 to about £42. I bought a black and a brown pair!

At your recommendation I've gone with the falco Aviators and they are by far the best motorcycle boots I've ever owned, I've even warn them out a few times without any intention of riding a motorcycle and they've been complemented by a number of my wife's friend's. Great review keep up the good work, but please buy some polish even some neutral (so you keep the patina) and look after that leather. It'll make them more comfortable and more waterproof.
In my size (42) I often find the malleolus protection nowhere near where my ankle is. It's also worth noting a boot like the Rocker can be resoled many times where often the cheaper boots have a glued on sole with fake stitching. I have a pair of Forma Legacy boots and they are so good I'm planning on touring in them.

I've never owned any of these but I think the Falco Aviators look the best from a style perspective. I have the Indie Ridge Comanche in brown, they look pretty good but they're a cross between a brown leather boot and a sneaker. I paid $175 which is about 150 pounds?
Nice to see the RX-7 , I had an L plate RX-3 in the late 80's only car I regret moving on , only one I didn't think of as an appliance . Look it up great little coupe. Great video .
I thought I had a lot of boots😲 I can't bring myself to buy these jeans. I do have adventure type pants for long rides but otherwise I wear ripstop tactical cargo pants. $50. Fortnine did a video on the topic that made me think twice about spending so much on jeans.
well, first things first - great vid Freddie, I have also discovered your podcasts recently and found them enjoyable as well. Let me share some personal experience regarding Broger Alaska boots. Due to limited budget, they were my only pair of riding shoes for a season and a half. I ride daily, mostly commuting, in pretty much every conditions you may come across in Warsaw, nearby which I live. In general, I recognize them a very well made ones with a bit bulky design in the toes section, and IMO they suffer from three faults: - they do not come in halves of size and the fitment is on the generous side, so you may quite easily get unlucky to be stuck in the middle between of sizes, as I did - they take a certain amount of time to break in, which I will remember as a literally painful period for my feet, I believe it was mostly due to the sizing issue - after about a year of daily riding (ca. 10k miles) the side zippers tended to break apart if I was less careful about lacing tension per my socks thickness never the less, these are decent boots if you are on a budget and lucky to pop spot on with their sizing ride safe, cheers!

I’m surprised that good motorcycle boots are relatively inexpensive. I wear Vibergs daily to the office, and their quality is so superb that I can stand on concrete with them for 10 hours with no soreness. Of course they cost well over $700 but they’re well worth it. As a new rider, I’m looking forward to exploring this boot market.
Loooove my Urban Racers. Had been considering X-Blends and similar but the Rokkers just feel and look "proper", mine are the oxbloods and they shine up very well with some Saphir Renovateur.

i own Stylmartin Yu rock and Rokker racer...both amazing. The only problem with the Rokker's are their lack of waterproofing. They are useless in a downpour

I’ve been riding since 2012 and absolutely love it though unfortunately 95% of my riding is commuting into London from herts. Question I have for you is how does this retro/lifestyle gear hold out across the seasons/weather? I typically ride all year round and have only ever used big goretex dainese boots and thick textile clothing with lots of armour but frankly it is a pain having to either change or wear my normal clothes underneath. Would appreciate your thoughts thanks 😊

Hi Ashwin, I love them! They're the toughest boots of the lot- they could be worn as safety boots they're that tough. I highly recommend them- you will love them. Oh and they come up bang on size, so just order them in your normal size🙂👌

Went for the Falcon Aviators in Brown after seeing on your channel Freddie, I had the Dianese Street armour ankle Converse style boots (great summer boot I’ve had for 4 years) but wanted a more robust boot out for gravel etc, as found my ones slippy and when shoving about a 300kg Rocket can be a bit sketch… will go with my new awesome 😎 green JohnDoe bomber jacket and green Resurgence combats (make great jeans), Falcos seem like a great boot for the money? Had a hip replacement a little while ago so the double zipper is great.
A Rocket owner- AMAZING!!🖤 The Aviators are the only boots that genuinely don't need the laces undoing, which is very nice! That's a very nice selection you have (John Doe and Resurgence)- they're two brands I've never tried, but I really want to, so it's good to get your feedback. The

I noticed they are all lace up boots, do you not like Classic slip on engineer boots? The jeans look great, do they come with special washing instructions or can they just be put in the machine and dried as normal?
It’s purely personal preference that I just happen to like the aesthetics of lace up boots🙂👌🏻 The jeans can just be washed normally with normal clothes and don’t need any special care. I’ve even tested washing them on a hot wash and they don’t shrink. They’re very tough🙂
Freddie I could not make a decision between the TCX and the Falco, which one would you recommend, I am more keen on the Falco's zip but the TCX is a bit higher.
Falco are by far the easiest to take on and off (five seconds!), but the TCXs a little cheaper. If I could only own one pair, I'd say TCX, but it is very nearly 50/50- they are both superb!
Great video, I've bought the rev'it in brown a couple years back and they are not that comfortable. I've got thin feet that may explain why. Keep up the good work with your channel!
I think basically all of these other than the Rokkers have a waterproof membrane, the Rokkers instead rely on being greased/waxed to stay water resistant like more traditional boots.
Glad I found this, I’m wanting a pair of boots, the falco ones, are they easy to get on and off with the zips? Or is it a case of undoing the laces too.
A great "rainy day video" although here in Sweden it´s sunny... for now. Love biking gear that doesn´t necessarily look like it. When going over to friends or a movie going about looking lika a Batman wannabe doesn´t fly always. Interesting to note that the most expensive pair of boots doesn´t have any armor. Any experience with these kind of bikejeans regarding the armor, I mean how do they work in a accident? The might be abrasion resistant but not much more. I saw a FortNine video regarding the resistance of riding jeans and in a few cases they disappoint. I suppose it is a tradeoff. Great video as always, keep up the good work mate!!! Oh, and look at that Mazda....

I’ve had a pair of TCX Hero waterproof boots for two or three years, similar to the tcx you’ve shown there. They wear in well.

I just started riding, and my first pair of boots is the yurok stylmartin. A little bit expensive, but I was attracted to how tall they are. 😊

I’ve been riding since 2012 and absolutely love it though unfortunately 95% of my riding is commuting into London from herts. Question I have for you is how does this retro/lifestyle gear hold out across the seasons/weather? I typically ride all year round and have only ever used big goretex dainese boots and thick textile clothing with lots of armour but frankly it is a pain having to either change or wear my normal clothes underneath. Would appreciate your thoughts thanks 😊

I love them! They're the toughest boots of the lot- they could be worn as safety boots they're that tough.
I highly recommend them- you will love them.
Oh and they come up bang on size, so just order them in your normal size🙂👌

Went for the Falcon Aviators in Brown after seeing on your channel Freddie, I had the Dianese Street armour ankle Converse style boots (great summer boot I’ve had for 4 years) but wanted a more robust boot out for gravel etc, as found my ones slippy and when shoving about a 300kg Rocket can be a bit sketch… will go with my new awesome 😎 green JohnDoe bomber jacket and green Resurgence combats (make great jeans), Falcos seem like a great boot for the money? Had a hip replacement a little while ago so the double zipper is great.

The Aviators are the only boots that genuinely don't need the laces undoing, which is very nice!

I noticed they are all lace up boots, do you not like Classic slip on engineer boots?
The jeans look great, do they come with special washing instructions or can they just be put in the machine and dried as normal?
It’s purely personal preference that I just happen to like the aesthetics of lace up boots🙂👌🏻
The jeans can just be washed normally with normal clothes and don’t need any special care. I’ve even tested washing them on a hot wash and they don’t shrink. They’re very tough🙂
Freddie I could not make a decision between the TCX and the Falco, which one would you recommend, I am more keen on the Falco's zip but the TCX is a bit higher.
Falco are by far the easiest to take on and off (five seconds!), but the TCXs a little cheaper.
If I could only own one pair, I'd say TCX, but it is very nearly 50/50- they are both superb!
Great video, I've bought the rev'it in brown a couple years back and they are not that comfortable.
I've got thin feet that may explain why.

Great review but you didn't mention one thing which is very important for motorcycle boots - are they waterproof / water resistant etc?
I think basically all of these other than the Rokkers have a waterproof membrane, the Rokkers instead rely on being greased/waxed to stay water resistant like more traditional boots.
Did you ever show the solenoid screwdriver trick anywhere ?

Glad I found this, I’m wanting a pair of boots, the falco ones, are they easy to get on and off with the zips? Or is it a case of undoing the laces too.
Really glad you found it useful Chris! The Falco boots are the only ones that you don't have to undo the laces on- super super easy to live with!

A great "rainy day video" although here in Sweden it´s sunny... for now. Love biking gear that doesn´t necessarily look like it. When going over to friends or a movie going about looking lika a Batman wannabe doesn´t fly always. Interesting to note that the most expensive pair of boots doesn´t have any armor.
Any experience with these kind of bikejeans regarding the armor, I mean how do they work in a accident? The might be abrasion resistant but not much more. I saw a FortNine video regarding the resistance of riding jeans and in a few cases they disappoint. I suppose it is a tradeoff.

I have a pair brown leather boot and a pair of hiking boot as my go to for riding and all others. I haven't really been on long rides, but an concerned whether leather ones are comfortable for long rides.

I can very happily confirm the leather boots are very comfortable for all day riding (and also walking!)🙂
