Its all about my parents being from anatolia. A province called sivas and a village where they from called sızır. Its the journey every year from amsterdam to kayseri airport ( most nearby airport ). Always landing at dark. Every year my uncle comes to pick is up with his car. And every year his car smells like hard work/fields. It an familliar smell. Its an hour driving, around 70km if i remember well. When leaving the city of kayseri the mountains and the villages are coming in sight while the sun is coming up behind the mountains. You start to see the people working on their fields. The yellow and green fields, the reddish mountains and the smell of the earth gives me a smile. Im here. Im almost at my parents village where they been born. In poverty, hard life but with a big familly. There is a super small village called burhan. When i see the sign burhan i always need to laugh. It means we are almost home and because its so small i always joked with my brother we could hold up our breath and pass the village without losing it. So we are almost there. Almost arrived. From the distance i can see the first building before entering the village. A sugar factory that never opened. Caves in the mountains where they say armenians have lived in the past. So we enter the village and my heart keeps bumping like crazy. Looking left, looking right. But not much driving to go because my fathers familly lives directly at the beginning. Arriving at my uncles home, my aunt waits outside. Fresh made bread, olives cheeses etc. Mostly from their garden. We go inside and also there is the familliar smell. I feel at home. I hear the birds, the insects and the call for prayer what we ofcourse dont have in the netherlands. After the breakfast i rest a bit. I go outside and watch the mountains. A different view than the canals of amsterdam :). So i start to walk around to see other familly members. There is 1 main road to goes to the centre. Before i take a right at the intersection i go left. There is a hidden gem. Before arriving the smell of the fields turns in the freshness. The completely green scene and the waterfalls. I go there and just admire it. A beautiful contrast while everything is greenin fron of you, everything is yellowish/red of the mountains in the distance. Now i go back to where i started. First i need to pass my grandfathers house. They are not alive anymore. I remember my childhood and just stare the house for a couple of minutes. So i walk and there is the weekly bazaar. The whole village is there. Its crowded. I hope to see some people i know. I do. People are welcoming me. I thank them and i just walk to my aunts house. A lot of big dogs on the street that i need to avoid! Haha. When i arrive and suprise my aunt she is always happy to see me. And yes, she also smells like that. The hard work, the sweat, fields and cows that she is milking. But i dont care. I hug her and i kiss her. I take my tea and go on the roof of the house. Its starting to get dark. I watch the sun dissapear behind the great mountains in the distance. Its getting cold and i end my day after observing everything and everyone. From young to old. From the sheppards to the field workers. They wake up with the sun, they sleep with the sun. They are pure people, big hearted and take enough with less. They are Anatolia.
@@MR-vj8dn don't get me wrong please. Iove the netherlands. Here is my home and i can never leave it. Im proud of both of my countries. It made me who i am today. It gave me 2 lifes. But the only rest i can have after the big city life is in my parents village. To restore energy, to be free of mind. My because im 33. My age can be a factor in this. Seeking rest for adults is something everyone needs i guess. In my younger ages i never wanted to stay there longer than a week. Now i only want to go there. I dont need places like istanbul izmir antalya. Everything i seek is there. This masterpiece, the mimicking of the saz in the beginning and end. What i wrote above is exactly what i feel and see in the piece of art. I hope you can understand me. And i think you will do. I think everyone has something where they can find peace and love. For me its anatolia. This music reminds me of that. For you it can be something different but with the same outcome. Different feelings maybe, but the same peace. Same love. Btw, now i think about it. You said you experienced as a journey of life. I experience this as a journey of the time i am there. So probably in a way we both experience it somehow in the same way. I also hope i could have give you the answer you were seeking for. It is mostly my day spending day while this art is the bubble where the people are living in. Thats why the connection between anatolia, the people and and this art. Btw its said black earth comes from the song kara toprak by asik veysel. Asik veysel is also from the same province. I would advice you to listen to kara toprak what also means dark earth. He was a blind guy. A poor guy. Not only financially but also as a soul... there should be videos in english about who asik veysel is aswell his song with subtitle. If not i would recommend asik veysel kendi kendimi. That one has subtitles. Asik means in love. There are many asiks. Is like a poetry of love and life. Update: i found a video about him. Video is called asik veysel english uploaded by sarkisla tv.

Translated lyrics of the original song by Aşık Veysel:
"I hugged/embraced many, thinking they were friends
Black earth (death), my faithful beloved
I wandered in vain, tired for nothing
Black Earth (death)(is), my faithful beloved
I devoted myself to many beautiful ones
I neither saw faithfulness (in them) nor found any use
I took everything I wished for from the Earth
Black Earth (death)(is), my faithful beloved
She gave me sheep, gave me lamb, gave milk
Gave food, gave bread, gave meat
When I didn't beat her up with pickaxe, she gave short
Black Earth (death)(is), my faithful beloved
She sheltered me since Adam
She fed me all sorts of fruits
She carried me on her surface everyday
Black Earth (is), my faithful beloved
I ripped her belly with pickaxe
I tore her face with my hands and nails
Yet, she greeted me with rose of hers
Black Earth (is), my faithful beloved
She laughed at me as I tortured her
There's no lie in this, everyone saw it
I gave her a single seed, she gave me four orchards
Black Earth (is), my faithful beloved
If I look up in the air, I take air
if I look down to the Earth, I take prayer
Where would i stay if I leave the Earth
Black Earth (is), my faithful beloved
If you have a wish, ask it to the God
To collect it, go no farther away from the Earth
The Earth has been blessed with generousity by the God
Black Earth (is), my faithful beloved
If you seek truth, here's a clear point:
The God is close to man, and man to the God
God's secret treasure is within the Earth
Black Earth (is), my faithful beloved
The Earth covers all of our faults
It recovers me, salving my wounds
It is waiting for my arrival with arms open wide
Black Earth (is), my faithful beloved
Whoever is honored with this secret
She (or he) leaves an unfading legacy to this world
One day, she takes Veysel to her bosom
Black Earth (is), my faithful beloved.

Something was not sounding 100% here.
Maybe the piano or I don't know but the feeling was not there in a perfect manner.
Still a masterpiece🔥
Very much impressed and moved!!!
Superbe. Incroyable de beauté.
Dünyada parmakla sayılacak kadar nitelikli sanatçılardan biri... Gurur duyuyorum.
this is wonderful!
Fazıl Say.muhteşem bir sanatçı. sonsuzluğa götürüyor dinlerken.
Fazıl Bey olağanüstü bir yeteneğe sahip gercekten, 2 ayrı enstrüman çalmaktan farkı yok stilinin. Acaba böyle çalınca piyano garanti dışı kalıyor mu ? 😀
